Today we went from Auburn University (KAUO) down to Panama City (KECP) in the Cirrus SR22. I brought a friend Charlie along for his first airplane ride! We just finished 9 holes of golf and were on our way down to a country music festival called the Gulf Coast Jam. I hope you enjoy!

Love watching your videos. To answer your question about the power. I believe the naturally aspirated engines lose something like 2-3% of power for every 1,000' of elevation gain. I fly the 22T and it does make a difference at higher elevations. Love your professionalism man. Keep it up.

If the SR22 is normally aspirated, then the loss in power percentage would be related to the air density. Lower density means lower power.

Saying “for 4RL” can cause confusion. “For” can be interpreted as “4”. I’d suggest omitting “for” and saying just the call sign.

I found myself doing the same thing awhile ago and stopped using “for” in my calls.

To add to this, the correct phraseology for the altitude report is: “We are SEVEN THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED CLIMBING ONE ZERO THOUSAND 4RL”

Beautiful flight! It was a bit unsettling seeing the passenger having his hand on the stick while you piloted, though. Happy you made it safely.

should not bring the flaps up while on the runway. not a good habit especially later on when flying a retractable aircraft. In some cases its ok on a short field for improved braking
@golfcoastpilot
@golfcoastpilot 2 ай бұрын
It decreases landing distance and decreases break wear and tear! Definitely don't want to accidentally retract landing gear!

@@golfcoastpilot retracting the flaps after T/O looks pretty ok to me. Unless my memory is deteriorating i used to do it same way back in the day. Just wanna get onto my heading after clearing the runway. Maybe its my aging memory 😂

Congrats! Cirrus is a lot of fun. Try and remember what it feels like on takeoff when you give it full power for the first time. Landing will feel different… sight picture, speed, flair. Side stick is very easy to get used to, but avionics are certainly overwhelming at first. I learned all the avionics in a simulator and online before I ever flew it for the first time.

It’s going to be hard to stop saying “for,” because it is part of your subconscious response. Even though you made a mention of it during the video you still said it a couple of times. You’re just going to have to practice. You may want to place a 3”x5” with “OMIT FOR,” written on it and place in your sight line. Many pilots have a habit of looking at one point somewhere on the panel every time they key the mic. If you find yourself doing that, place the card there. Just a thought. May I also suggest practicing “Sterile cockpit,” during important phases of flight such as landing. You don’t want to be distracted during such a critical phase of flight.

You lose 1 inch of manifold pressure for every thousand feet you climb due to the air density that others have mentioned.
