In our first vlog of the year, we're flying to Japan & there are some things you may need to know if you fly to Japan in 2024.
The flight to Japan from Dallas with American Airlines should be straight forward, right? We knew flying to Japan would be a long journey, but little did we know it'd be far more difficult than we could've ever expected. Come along as we fly American Airlines from Dallas to Tokyo, with a short flight from Trey's hometown of Huntsville, Alabama to begin the long day!

The 4th time my flight was delayed or outright cancelled to Japan. It was the last straw and I booked with ANA one of Japan's carrier and I can safely say I will now always use ANA for my trips to Japan

That's a great point!!! We've heard amazing things about both ANA & Japan Airlines. Our friends Haley & Zach flew to Tokyo with Japan Airlines on the same day we did & they couldn't speak highly enough about their experience. Ours was...a little different lol. We're just glad we finally ended up making it🤣 Thank you so much for watching our video!!!!

Thank y'all so much!!! These can be really difficult (as I'm sure you guys know as well!) but they're always worth it in the end. I don't think we've traveled anywhere that we couldn't find something that we liked. Tokyo's so worth the journey. We can't wait to watch your videos from Thailand & hopefully we're there around the same time!!!!

It was such a grind of a travel day but it's been so worth it. Tokyo's unlike anything we've ever experienced!! & I know...😭 My sister came down with COVID two days after we arrived so Hannah & I really never left home until the day before we flew. Christmas was definitely a lot different than we imagined it would be but we're glad we got to be there at least. We're planning to be home in early June for a bit so we're going to try & catch you then!!!❤️❤️

We honestly went into this stay with pretty low expectations because we'd heard about how expensive Japan was but honestly, we couldn't have been more shocked. Everything's SO clean & it can be expensive if you have expensive taste, but it's so easy to stick to a budget here! Our biggest regret is not staying longer to see more of this place, but we'll certainly be back at some point to venture more outside of Tokyo. You have to come over here at some point & experience it for yourself. You will LOVE IT!!! Thank you so much for watching our video!!!😊

It was QUITE the journey to get here🤣 It was absolutely worth the trouble though. We've LOVED Japan. As far as Okinawa, unfortunately we aren't making it there this time. BUT, I will say we've already started trying to figure out if we can come back here for a couple of months in June in order to see more of it. We booked this flight as kind of a stop before heading to SE Asia & we've been filled with so much regret for not leaving Tokyo & seeing more. So stay tuned because we're DEFINITELY going to be back!!!😊 Thank you so much for taking the time to watch our crazy video!! LOL

Oh for sure!!! We're definitely glad that everything turned out well in the end. It was just frustrating because of how significant the delay was, how a lot of other travelers were treated (at the time, there were still significant travel restrictions in Japan for people even traveling through the airport), & we were pretty frustrated at American for not at least compensating us with points or something for a 7+ hour delay which caused us to get into Narita after the train system shut down (taxis are UNBELIEVABLY expensive from there). But we were definitely thankful to arrive safely at the end of the day. Thank you for taking the time to watch our video!

SERGIO🤣 You're honestly onto something there though LOL. We at least would've gotten a bit more daylight that way. We basically spent around 27 hours in total darkness & we were not loving it. Not sure how people who live in the far north are able to handle the darkness all the time. Next time we fly here we're making sure to set our expectations LOWWWW if we fly with American. Were there no buses/ shuttles going to any tokyo hotels? I heard people will do that if they couldn't take the train, also cheaper than taking a taxi the whole way
@ProbablyLost
@ProbablyLost Жыл бұрын
There weren't any buses that we could find going anywhere near where we were staying unfortunately! We were a bit outside of the city center in an area of Urayasu, so unfortunately the only option we had in the end was the taxi. We even looked at booking a hotel last minute at the airport hoping that would be cheaper than the taxis but it wasn't 😅. Thank you so much for watching our video!

Did you you guys fly over the Atlantic Ocean? Didn’t look like it on the screen on the back of the seat, showing the flight path… either way flying over an ocean is inevitable and that really terrifies me. Planning a trip to Japan within the next two years and the ocean is stressing me out 😰🫣
@ProbablyLost
@ProbablyLost Жыл бұрын
Hi!! So we flew over the Pacific, BUT I promise it isn’t as bad as you think! There’s a website called FlightAware which can show you the exact route on the map that a flight takes from takeoff to landing. For ours, we flew out of Dallas, through Canada and into Alaska, before flying over the Alaskan islands in the Bering Strait. After that we were over the ocean but it really was only for a few hours. So believe it or not, the majority of the flight is actually over land!! I totally understand your nerves though. But once you do it, I PROMISE you’ll think it’s worth it. Japan’s such an incredible place and we loved it so much that we’re going back for a month this summer!!! You got this❤️❤️ I hope this helps a bit & thank you so much for watching our video!!😊
@CoasterLoverJackie
@CoasterLoverJackie Жыл бұрын
@@ProbablyLost thank you so much for replying!! It is a relief to know there is a route that involves less time over the water. I know that airports don’t fly directly over the Pacific because is it so massive and could run out of fuel. I can’t wait to see Japan. We are going to Tokyo and then to Fujiyoshida to go to Fuji Q Highland (I’m a coaster enthusiast in the making lol) I can’t wait to ride Eejanaika and to see Mt Fuji in person. Thank you for encouraging words too. Have a blessed and joyous day 😉😍

@ProbablyLost
@ProbablyLost Жыл бұрын
You're DEFINITELY right about that LOL. I think the worst part for us wasn't even the delay really. It was primarily the fact that it got dark in Dallas about 30 minutes before we took off & stayed dark for the ENTIRE flight, & then we landed in Tokyo & had about 7 more hours of darkness. Just a brutal day of travel🤣 Hopefully our flight back to Tokyo this summer is a little easier on us😅

Has Japan woken up yet about the Covid BS? I feel your pain on your trip. I feel airlines don't take care of their planes like they should the FAA does not have inspectors going through maintenance bases like they used to. I feel the airlines cut corners for the dollar bill. Not all of them just some.
