I'm a massive fan of the FlyingIron Mk IX Spitfire, so I was very eager to pick up their latest release - the iconic Bf 109 G-6.
Does it stack up to its traditional rival in the sim? Can I take off or land without stacking it into a hedge? Tune in and find out!

You are much less incompetent than I am. I haven't yet been able to successfully take off! 😂 I am here for your knowledge. Your lead-in music reminds me of my opa. He was a German sailor during WWII. He managed to immigrate to Canada with his family after the war with help from his in-laws.

Haha keep practicing, you’ll get there! It’s a great track isn’t it? It’s from the movie Battle of Britain originally, but this vocal cover with the German lyrics is so atmospheric. I’m sure your Opa had some amazing stories to share 😁

He was pretty quiet about his experiences, but he told me the last time I saw him. He was barely 18 when the war ended. He was lucky, because he never got the chance to actually serve aboard a U-boat. Instead, he was part of the U-boat base personnel on the island of Heligoland. That was a quiet posting until one night the RAF came over and totally obliterated it. He was lucky to survive. They hit them with nearly 1000 heavy bombers for an approximately 1 km square island. My other grandfather was an engineer serving with the Canadians in Italy. He was proud of the airfields and bridges he helped build along the way, but he didn't speak much of the war either. I know he landed at Sicily the day after the initial invasion and went to work. @@FlyFromHome

Really enjoyed watching you struggle with this beautiful aircraft! She's so alive and such a joy to hand fly and the first MSFS aircraft to give me that Accusim feeling! 'A lady's bra' you say? as opposed to a man's bra? Thanks for making this video and hope you get those pesky freezes fixed soon!

After a little ( more ) time - it's as usual for FI, it's very good aside from they don't seem to have worked out inertia ( not helped by the SDK telling you to use the wrong setting to simulate it ). They nearly got it right on the Hellcat - the Spit is some way off - and it wouldn't take much tweaking to get it right on this either, there's not an awful lot in the wings, the complicated part of the gear is in the roots. There is a general MSFS setup issue where I'm pretty sure the recommendations result in way too much control force for too little deflection too, but I'm less sure of that vs it being something deeper yet. Otherwise they did a good job I think and if you like these sort of aircraft I will stand by my recommendation. Not sure that plug fouling clearing mechanic is genuine, mind...

I get exactly the same freezing. It seems to be a bandwidth issue (even though I far exceed the recommendations), and can usually be lessened by using a VPN and experimenting with different locations for some reason. New York generally seems to work well for me.

The Tobii Eye tracker is very good,though not cheap and NEVER use eye tracking it will disorient you.Small easily correcable bug is looking too long in one direction will give a visual offset but pressing F12 resets it...................................................

I have an ancient TrackIR and a Tobii, and I'm still using the TrackIR - one of the major problems with the Tobii was it resetting the camera if it loses tracking ( either if you pause it, which is possibly fixable somewhere ,or it can't find your eyes ). TIR just stays put until it starts tracking again, which is extremely useful.
