Train fair season has begun, and for the first haul of the year I was actually not disappointed at all! So, what did I find? And does it fry the layout? All of this and more in today's episode of "Poor Financial Decisions".

It has been brought to my attention that the NE Toad was packaged in a "Departmental" wagon packaging, hence why it wouldn't fit!

That Pullman is R.229/R.223 First Class Pullman Parlor "Lucille" Sold from 74-'01 according to Hornby Guide. I'd say you have an earlier/70s one based on that coloring.

I really enjoy your videos and presentation style. I have a NL-livered loco: a Bachmann 2-8-0 Austerity, numbered NS 4310 in some sort of drab WD livery. It was a nice runner until it crashed to the floor as I was moving one of my display shelves on which it was perched... But OOBill came to my rescue. It's all back in 1 piece, and he's made a 4-part mini-series of the restoration, which is due to be shown on his channel imminently. BR blue coaches can also be used for modelling 1970s/80s steam excursion trains.

I have a bog van as well, was worried it said something rude, so thanks for clearing that up Scott 😂

14:38 The reason why they couple closer together is because the Bachmann wagons are fitted with the tension lock couplings that they inherited from Mainline. They continued to use these couplings on most of their rolling stock up until the end of the 90's. They are still used to this day by Bachmann for its Thomas and Friends line. They are the best type of tension lock coupling imo because the scale distance between each wagon is accurate to the real thing.

The folwer with the Tender is called a Fowler 4F, whilst Jinties are 3F’s.
@FlyingScott
@FlyingScott 4 ай бұрын
No they're not. The Midland Railway had 2F and 3F tender engines long before the 3F "Jocko", "Humpy" or "Jinty" tank came along in 1924. These 3Fs, designed by Samuel Johnson, first came about (as 2Fs, with smaller boilers) in 1875 and with their total of 935 vastly outnumbered the Fowler (more like Anderson...!) 4Fs at just 575 class members.

I'm pretty sure that says M/C on the van, but I'm not entirely sure lol Edit: Ok checking back through the footage and zooming in, it does say M/C Also those bachmann items are both ex-mainline toolings btw!

Sadly German stuff just have a greater reach than British stuff. It's also the case in China and Japan. 😔
