I am all for being gentle on the finish of beautiful cars. And if you elect to avoid using a pressure washer to blast your paint, I understand your thinking. However, next time you’re driving down the highway in the rain, stick your hand out of the window doing 70 miles an hour. You will find that those rain drop hurt much more than a pressure washer holding it 18-24” away from your hand. If you were using a 3,000 PSI plus unit, I would tend to agree with you. But, using a 1,500-2,000 PSI washer is not going to cause any damage, in my opinion. I would be more concerned of installing swirls on your beautiful black paint by not removing as many contaminants during the prewash stage. You’re Vette is beautiful! You’re definitely doing something right! If your method works for you, go with it.
