I just used my first MF pad with a foam interface. Loved it! the paint was good, I just wanted to use it with wax. What I liked about the MF pad over the foam pad I have used before, the MF pad did a better job of removing the wax in the door and hood gaps. The fibers seemed to just get in the gaps where the foam didn't.

He Wilson ! How about Scholl S20 ? I have managed to remove pretty heavy swirl marks from careless washings in 3 passes. Used wool pad but with wool been as human straight thin hairs. Pad went dry in seconds. Every half of the pass had to reapply S20 and moisture pad with spray water. Loved the results but process and amount of product made me cry. Tried medium firm thick none flexi pad but for noob me it was jumping in my hands and i could not get to hard to reach , places and bends .... Could you please recommend some flexi pad for Scholl S20 1 step compound. I need flexy so can press on the edge and get it flexing over bends. Please Kind Sir

Luke, I've got a question/problem. My cars are in very good condition with exception of light swirl marks from hand washing and winter machine car washes. I used a suggestion from Scott Bly (Dallas Auto Detailing) and I'm using Meguiar's D300 with a light compound orange Lake Country CCS foam pad with a Harbor Freight DA polisher on speed 4-5 out of 6 max. This problem is on both my 2012 black Acura TL and my 2001 Speedway white Vette. Yesterday I washed, clayed, decontaminated, and cleaned with Duplicolor Grease and Wax Remover to remove clay residue. I followed the directions for D300 and the paint looked so smooth and glossy in my garage. Followed up on the Acura with more Duplicolor, two coats of Jescar Color Lock Carnauba Wax and Meguiar's Fast Finish. Then I parked it out in the sun and swirl marks were horrible! The paint is smooth as silk and glossy but the swirl marks are killing me. Today, I did the same prep work on the Vette. After pulling it out in the sun and before waxing, I have the same issue with it. All the swirl marks are still there yet the paint is smooth and glossy. Before polishing, I need to know what I am doing wrong and I've got to get rid of the swirl marks. The paint has light swirl marks and nothing is through the clear coat. Is my arm speed too fast? Too much or too little pressure on the polisher? Using the wrong products for my paint? I've watched Apex, Dallas Paint and your videos at length to get up the courage to try a DA polisher and all I have is a mess on my hands. Your thoughts or guidance would be appreciated very much. for a beginner like me should I stick with foam pads first? I actually have both microfiber and foam because I went into panic mode and thought just to get both because I will probably need to learn how to use them at some time. Also, how do you know what type of pad or amount of product for hard paint and soft paint. Thats where Im confused at right now. not sure if im suppose to use more product and go slower with the DA or faster and less for soft (im pulling my hair out slowly trying to understand) Haven't seen any videos that actually explain and show this part of detailing.

My advice for anyone looking to start a pad collection is without the air compressor I’d stick with foam.. I had to sell my beautiful 80 gallon compressor when I moved and cleaning pads without it has been a nightmare. Great video man!

Most of the content Luke produces is generally aimed at beginners, i would say. The guy is a teacher by trade as well.. and alot of people get on him and make fun for his talking alot or too much or with extreme enthusiasm. for any beginner such as myself looking for a free flowing fountain of neverending information into the intricacies of several facets of automotive detailing, i would take every word he says as a grant of valuable knowledge. I have a microfiber cutting pad for my orbital that can be used for compounding, cutting, polishing, and finishing. It's about 1/4" foam underneath and gives amazing results. I love it, can't complain at all... My boss and co-workers are a little jealous lol....#automagic

In the Chemical Guys range, there are two types of foams used. European foams: yellow orange white red American "filter" foams: green (60ppi) blue (70ppi) black (80ppi) The European foams more use density over porosity to dictate aggression levels. The American foams use ppi. In my experience, the green pad will out cut both the orange, and yellow because it's pores are larger. It's density sort of makes it "fiberous", almost like a "macrofiber" pad if one ever existed. An interesting note, is that Buff and Shine manufacturers both Chemical Guys and Griot's pad lines.

All microfiber cutting or finishing pad systems is a failure including the special compounds and polish. It does not cut fast like wool or effective like foam. I have tried all microfiber pads through the last few years without any positive results.
