Thanks for the pep talk about not being embarrassed by your dog's behavior. That's one of the hardest parts of having a reactive dog.

I will never forget being at training class with my dog when asked by the instructor.......... "are you going to feed him his entire breakfast?" I responded with why, yes I am... that is my plan. It was high quality meat pieces that I was feeding him as he did things correctly. Dog training has come a long way since the late 80's and now I believe that I was just ahead of my time. I love your video's and your work...... much love from the USA

This guy is giving away great and accurate advice FREE of charge to change the lives of owners and their pets in a positive way. I have had miserable and frustrating walks in the past with my dog pulling my arms out of its socket. Since watching these videos all that is a thing of the past and we can both enjoy our walks together now without frustration on both parts. Please give a bit of encouragement by 'liking' and commenting on this guys channel. It's nice to give back!!!! (especially in these hard times)

Really loved this vid. Have been watching your vids for a while and they really have been so helpful. We're new 1st time puppy owners and our wee Australian Labradoodle pup has benefitted so much (as have we) from your advice. Thanks for this. We're getting on not too bad with loose leash walking when there's little distractions around, until the kids are out in front on their bikes/scooters etc and she just pulls pulls pulls...gonna work on some of the techniques in here for that. Thank you.

This is brilliant, thank you. We recently rehomed a 5 year-old cocker and she's currently a nightmare on the lead, pulling and barking at everything. We're now taking it right back to gaining control in our cul-de-sac before trying to go anywhere with her, getting her to focus on us more and more. Fantastic video, thank you.

Exactly! Good job! Consider doing some specific walks where you just drive somewhere different and then all you do is change direction work on focus and obedience etc! You don’t have to do an a to b walk every time :)

Thank you for this video! My rottie has become such a handful walking lately, has started becoming very pully and distracted... so will definitely be doing this. Do you think buying a clicker alongside using treats is a good way to train whilst walking?

My 5 month old rottie has become very reactive on our walks. When it’s just him and I and the streets are quiet, anyone lookin out their window would think I’ve got the perfect dog (thanks to your vids 😉) but as soon as he sees another person or dog or blowing leaf, he near enough pulls my arm out my socket! I can get his attention with a “look at me” and a treat but as soon as he eaten the treat he turns to follow the person or dog or leaf! And before I can finish saying “look at me” again, he’s pulling to get to the distraction! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I’m getting Nervous, as he’s gettin so strong and in a few months he really WILL pull my arm out the socket if I don’t kerb this behaviour! Thank you x

Hey Kay! so my answer is most definitely to do lots more obedience around distractions! like a lot more! the outside world needs to become boring and you need to become more engaging and motivating.. you are most definitely on the right tracks though so keep up the good work!

Great video! My 6 month old Rottie pup gets SO excited to meet other dogs it’s getting to the point he’ll just sit and watch them when I’m trying to walk off. Will the tension work for that and also work on his harness? ☺️
@TheCanineCoachDogTraining
@TheCanineCoachDogTraining 3 жыл бұрын
heyy! haha poor pup wants to make friends haha! but no.. I wouldn't use tension for this.. in this scenario you're describing tension could cause a reaction when the dog is a little older! in your scenario I would aim to get the dogs eye contact and focus! I would change direction, be more dynamic and aim to be my pups fun option! hope this helps!

@TheCanineCoachDogTraining
@TheCanineCoachDogTraining Жыл бұрын
Hey!! Haha ok so it doesn’t matter what clicker you use because at the moment the sound means nothing to them! What you need to do is repeatedly click and then drop a treat until the pup learns that the sound of a click means treat!! :)

If my 5 month old pup stops at every house, person or dog and just sits, how do I proceed?! I use my "let's go" command and sometimes he moves and sometimes not. Is this a focus issue or just him being a pup?
@TheCanineCoachDogTraining
@TheCanineCoachDogTraining 3 жыл бұрын
So i Love that youre using the lets go command i think thats very good but you also need to add tension at the same time and almost make the decision for the pup! i would highly recommend watching my lead walking video because my answer to this question is use the 5 steps in that video, its a real combination of things you can do rather than just one! if i had to give just one tip though.. be more fun and dynamic and less predictable, change direction randomly and use foood rewards to create better engagement and motivation!
