Focus on YOU! Focusing on yourself isn’t selfish. It’s an act of self-love. But when you’ve been in the habit of focusing on others, it can be hard to shift gears. The idea of focusing on yourself isn’t as self-centered as it sounds. In fact, it’s one of the best things you can do for your well-being.

Humans are the only creatures on earth that will spend an entire lifetime running away from who they are in order to find themselves, only to circle back around and realize they wouldn't have wasted so much time if they 'd lived authentically and chosen what made them happy to begin with. One of the biggest gifts you can give yourself while you're still young is self-honesty.

Listen here, someone can enjoy killing and by your advice should they continue killing since that’s what make them happy? It’s easier to say live authentic but people don’t even know their true authentic selves to begin with. Could our true selves be authenticity evil ?

Jordan Peterson has taught me the same thing Frederich Nietzsche taught me but with a modern spin. As humans, we can be better and we are required to strive to be better than the previous generations of humans that came before us. If we can not surpass the last man and become the super man we will drive ourselves into a nihilistic hell that our children, and each generation after will have to endure. We can be better, but it starts by becoming better at an individual level. We must drop our pride and develop an ability to be critical of ourselves. Then we must have the courage to accept the faults that lie within and we must change. We can do it, we can change the world by changing ourselves. I believe in everyone who reads this comment, lead your life with love, compassion, truth and a well integrated monster at the helm.

I had been “good” almost my entire life. All the way up to 18 when I first decided to push limits a little, break rules, and do little things I knew weren’t right. I got away with those small things (sex, weed, some laws broken, sneaking out, lying some) but at least I wasn’t lying to myself. I had stayed on the right path until about a year ago when I started doing something I should’ve never done and then I started lying to myself. That’s rock bottom. Lying to yourself if the worst things you can do. At the end of the day the one person you can count on is yourself. And now I can’t even really trust or count on myself. I started putting my trust in a loved one and they let me down. Then I started opening up more to friends thinking if they knew all my secrets and flaws and stayed that I would learn to love myself again but wow… that doesn’t work either. THE POINT IM TRYING TO MAKE IS… NEVER LIE TO YOURSELF. You shouldn’t lie at all but always be truthful to yourself.

If one is not going to be ‘All in,’ one might as well get all the way out. There’s simply no better way to live than to apply 100% of one’s effort to the pursuits and relationships one values most. In my experience, employing that formula is choosing to live deliberately, and life becomes joyous, even through suffering. Love and All Good Things, Jesse.🌹

Well, as always JP's speache sounds inspiring and motivating. But from the experience gained during the past ten years I can tell you: you can have your goals and plans and putting a lot effort into it, but you may have to accept that a lot depends on the circumstances and the right timing whether you will reach your goals or not. It's frustrating to realise that sometimes hard work is not going to get you closer to your goals. Knowing that I can fully understand people's faith in god i.e. you do what you can, but if you gonna make it is not only in your hands. ☝🏿

What Jordan needed and wanted as a boy was parents that could focus conscious attention on the needs and wants of a human being. Jordan's parents however were conflating the needs and wants of a human being with their childhoods of severe trauma and despair. Beverly and Walt were/are emotionally committed to keeping their actual experience of their childhood unconscious. Subsequent to these impossible social conditions Jordan learned he had to hide his actual conscious experience, and rather pretend that reality is unconscious disconnected language. Metaphorically, Jordan learned that the feedback from the gauges on his car about its internal processes was being interpreted by his parents as upsetting, nonexistent, wrong, inappropriate etc. Metaphorically speaking, Jordan learned to speak about his car in a way that would not upset his parents as opposed to speaking about it the way that it is. Jordan became obsessed with trying to contrive the right ideas (lies) that would satiate or somehow magically transcend his family's perpetual imbalances and conflict. Jordan learned that enabling the immaturity, irresponsibility and poor mental health of others was the best strategy for him to be enabled and liked by others. While Jordan's linguistic contrivances have had success, his disconnection from the actual inner processing of a human being has him trapped in a perpetual state of anxiety, depression, autoimmunity, obsessive behaviors, irritability, inability to relax, etc. Jordan's disconnection from the inner processing of a human being showed up in Mikhaila as relentless internal feedback loops (vicious circles of negative emotions such as guilt) and severe autoimmune diseases.

I have practically exhausted my options; Attended college up to 41 years of age that placed me nowhere significant in the workforce, some of my childhood talents were returned to me back in 2007/08; poetry, song lyric development, piano, new; screenplay writings, but is no longer in use, have been doing food courier service for now 10 months and that is sucking up my profit in gas expense, searching for a home based job but many job websites here in Vegas are SCAMS. And having been outed and perceived as an 'outsider' hearing the Grass is Greener (????) complain about people like myself who continue to label our (what is left of our life) as trolls. There are truths which the INNER FOLD are 100% in denial about. I write in my journals about those who are PROGRAMMED to say that they RULE....really? How?

The problem with all of these trains of thought is they don't factor in chance. Yes, I have decided on who and what I would like to be. So I agree that aiming at something is better. You can do all the right things, but with out some good luck involved, you probably won't get there. I guess faith can help in this arena. However, if you set the bar really high, you are setting yourself up for a devastating low. Not everyone snaps right back. I would know, trust me. There is just so much we don't control. We live in an unfair world. The sad reality is, it's just way too easy to fall into nihilism. Im not talking about a few dissapointments either. Im talking about MANY! People burn you, betray you, leave you or whatever. Sure, the whole "what is the alternative" spiel is good and all but none of this gives you a fair chance. The reality is, most of us only know what we have to do, not what we want to do. Im in my ultra realist, somewhat cynical mood, i admit, but every hour we are alive trying to figure it out we are burning through cash. How many people have the luxury of trying things out until we find what works. It's all about controlling the masses. Always has been and always will be. I think I made my point. The end.

Very well said Jeremy. Like all young people, I had high hopes and dreams for my future. Now in my 50s, I'm not quite where I thought I'd be but thankful for what I have. Being a caregiver and dealing with the unexpected hardships that arise have prevented me reaching my full potential and I often feel guilty for that. I think the internet promotes unrealistic expectations of success, focussing on monetary wealth and possessions, but success and satisfaction in life come in many forms.

Good advice from Mr. Peterson. Unfortunately too late. I'm telling you - if you're in your mid to late 20s and you think it might be time to get married and get a family going - this is the day you're personal life ends. From this day forward you'll always worry about them , work your ass off to provide (of course unnoticed and unappreciated) and nothing you did previously to treat yourself , unwind or just having a little of a good time.... not gonna happen. Well , at least not in real life anymore. Instead you go on KZfaq in the evening when they're all in bed and watch other people do it , wishing you could turn back time. Life sucks.
