What's The Best Sounding Speaker Ever?

Danny is so accurate and honest that it blows me away. I once did DIY speaker with 4" peerless full range and 6.5" midbass driver. It wasn't perfect because the cross over was only first order. I had 400Hz crossover point. It was floorstander with low tuned cabinet for the 6.5" midbass and separate small enclosure for the full range. I got quite good idea what full range driver can do. Sadly crossover was unfinished and needed way more work to make than natural. And now I am seeing Danny coming up with the same design. Dannys design is absolutely fantastic!

Very interesting. You can hear, exactly as you point out, that the bottom end differs, but the rest is very faithful to the recording. I can't really hear much anything over 15k, so I'm not sure I can hear the peak on the top. It did sound a bit more "airy". What I could hear well was spot on. Interesting way to demo these speakers. Thanks!

That's definitely true, their is no "best" speaker, there's only a best speaker for that individuals tastes or that individuals room and sources, it's all dependent on those factors, everybody has their own best, but really thats what it comes down to after years of learning how big of a part that plays in the hobby, room, genre preferences, sources, all kinds of stuff.

The best speaker reproduces the exact input signal with no distortion in an anechoic listening room.😁 However, those of us with more modest budgets have to make do with living rooms and a speaker system that broadcasts the original signal in such a way that our ears/brain can decipher what the signal was meant to sound like. I really like Danny's common sense advice because it allows mere mortals to enjoy what I like to call "Fi". That's my little joke because I don't want High Fidelity to the signal, I just wants Fidelity. 🙃

@@martingarrish4082 Like the contemporary reviews [circa. 1970s] of the ADS L710 and L810. This is despite the fact that in the 1970s audiophile capacitors were not used. In fact, they used NP electrolytics. Still, reviewers said that there was no room for improvement. I am puzzled.

Your loudspeaker recording sounds nice. Still discernible from the original file which is superior. More open, smoother, more transparent. I used Sennheiser HD-600 headphones on a studio grade DAC / HP amp.

That's an interesting idea to rerecord a recording, for making things really bad of coarse. But something for sure will be jumping out on the 2nd or 3rd time. The hardest part of recording any speaker is of coarse recording the speaker and not the room. Near field is about the only feasible option. Cheers 🍻

I mounted the songs in my DAW. “Audio editing software “ and I was curious, I been following GRs videos and he does brings up good info and to his ears what can be enhanced to each of his mod kits. I would say; this isn’t scientific evaluation and I think he is very clear on his approach and I like it. You can hear something you can relate in your own environment. Is like the perfume samples that comes in the mail. But different. If you combine his tech data with the audio samples you can make a good assessment, but still the factor of room and to what is your needs is still the biggest factor in buying speakers. Most people will just end up buying everything but to try and fix room problems, often because is not attractive to invest hundreds of dollars for stuff that hangs and sits behind speakers. I get it… but there’s so much performance hidden just because room acoustics or poor choice of speakers. Yes. You’ll hear a difference, and even Danny points this out “not to be ignored “ have fun listening to music and your journey to have synergy in your system!

Time Arrival on and off Axis is the very reason Uni Q Speakers were invented! But they never fully reach Full Range! The only reasonable way to get an orchestra into your living room is to put in Klipshorns. These miniature speakers will never be able to reproduce the reality of a concert, all you'll get is the sound of the concert, but from the broom wardrobe... The wavelength is an immutable parameter, it is impossible to miniaturise it without sacrificing the bandwidth.

New fr30 are far below the nx otica and nx tremes. They are closed box and the crossovers are full of mid grade parts, nothing of actual value. The cabinets are HDF with minimal insulation. Their tweeter is almost identical to the neo3. The mid range planar is the old bg neo10, but the otica and nx treme mid drivers can hold up to these. Overall way over priced. Remember they take parts cost and multiply it by 7....30k speakers might cost $4200 for parts, labor to build, cabinet construction, price for all shipping box and the foam inserts for shipping, shipping from China to USA AND shipping from Colorado to your house. Just think about that for a minute, you have $1000-1500 ish worth of driver and part cost in that 30k speaker...

If 5 or 6 young youtubers give the same speaker very good reviews, despite their modest systems, their imperfect listening rooms and lack of experience and knowledge, chances are I would like the same speaker when hooked up to my own modest system - in my own imperfect listing room. Now should I take the same leap of confidence if you say your speaker sounds very good in your perfect system and optimized listening room, or do I risk ending up with a speaker that simply will reveal that my modest system is just that - a very modest system with many flaws and shortcomings, so that your very good speaker will just leave me in despair? :)

Look at it this way. A great speaker may sound fine with budget gear and in an imperfect room, and when placed properly in a treated room and with good gear it will really show you what it can do. I poor speaker may sound fair with budget gear and in an imperfect room, then when set up properly in a treated room with good gear it may sound no better because it is the bottleneck.

@@dannyrichie9743 Sure, but from my point of view you are the only one saying "great speaker", while in my stated example I have 5-6 young ones saying the same about another speaker. As I have understood it you do not consider others competent enough to review your speakers? If so then I feel safer listening to the judgment of the 5 or 6 young ones who,in my thought experiment agree on a given speaker . Of course nothing is certain in life, but if it is given that in both cases I am not able to listen/test the speakers my self... well.

@@HUZ9k3s5w a lie told by 5 or 6 people doesn't make it the truth... KZfaq is full of self proclaimed experts, some know what they are talking about, some wouldn't know their ass from their elbow. I have experienced this time and time again with popular KZfaq channels. They have millions of subscriber therefore they must know what they are talking about right? Wrong, subscribers are an indicator of popularity nothing more. Sometimes you need to use your ears and your brain to sort fact from fiction and not what is popular opinion. Look at the body of work on the whole, not just one or two videos with click bait titles. Don't be swayed by subscriber numbers, listen carefully to everything they say. Does Danny paint his speakers in their best possible light? Of course he does he is in business to sell speakers, but I believe the majority of what he says because he has "consistent" information. He isn't using the typical salesman pitch, using superlatives to seduce you into buying speakers like other online manufacturers. Danny is telling you exactly what is in the kit, he isn't trying to hide what he is selling behind the veneer of a glossy white cabinet, and talking up his speakers without providing data. Same goes for reviews. Some are all razzmatazz with little quality information, or testing all desired conditions. You get things like I like this one because it is prettier, or some other completely personal taste item. I don't care if a dozen people give that review, it still remains the same amount of useless.
