This is fantastic! I have the kit and have made several shoes. Most have turned out okay but I was guessing on some of the parts and certainly had issues with the heel and how to dry it. I love making these shoes and I will try all your tips. You are fantastic!

You can use either. I used gum paste (or fondant with tylose/cmc powder mixed in) because it dries harder and faster than fondant.

Those are a little trickier so that's why you don't see many of them. The easiest way would be to do the closed-toe sandal version and then extend the heel wrap to meet up with the toe portion.

You did a good job

Although gum paste is edible, it is usually on a decoration that is removed. It dries hard. While still soft, it is mory gummy than fondant.

It's probably the material you're using or it's dryingon you. You could use a different band, material, or work a little quicker. I try to avoid using powdered sugar or cornstarch also because that causes drying and cracking.

It's about 6-1/2" from the back of the heel to the toe.
