Interesting that they made a big deal about the waxing part of the process as the company openly showed this process on an episode of Unwrapped. For anyone that isn't aware, the cheese rounds are suspended with a paper strip, which is looped through a machine that carries them in rows into a spout that douses them with a clear wax, and then a second coat that has that distinctive red color. The paper strips are then trimmed and become the little pull tab you use to peel back the wax coating.

Mom used to get these a lot when we lived in a couple motels for a while. We called them 'Babbeh chez' so it's kinda stuck onto me to call them that. I loved playing with the wax, we live somewhere else now and haven't gotten them in a while. I want them now.

@@mikey995- No clue why. Think it might've been that it's tiny cheese, so it's a baby cheese? My brother was very young at the time, so I think he pronounced it like that.

Finally bought babybel mini cheese and crackers to see what this hype was(plus the cheese being wrapped nicely made me want to buy it)...anyway I thought the cheese was colored because it was sitting in the wrapping paper..i figured I'll still try it...and omg didnt know that was wax 😂😂😂 pretty cool I guess..i came here to see how to properly eat it but I figured it out.

Hey there, eating a babybel cheese here, watching multiple videos on this site about how they are made and you know, the show "Unwrapped" did a much better job covering this cheese product. (Including how the wax is put on) "FYI" just made me question what I was eating. . . *Spoilers* The cheese is dipped in clear wax with the tag as the holder, then in red wax, then rinsed in cold water and packaged. ;p
