Thanks to both of you! I continue to eat whole food-plant based almost 5 years now. I did it to fix my serum cholesterol and it dropped from 210 mg/dl (high) to 125 (ideal) very quickly and stayed down now for almost 5 years. Side effects of the diet include massive and sustained weight loss, much better blood pressure and off blood pressure med with doctor supervision, and good resting heart rate where before it was over 100. :-o I eat very similar food from day to day. A couple or three meals of whole wheat pasta, black beans, cayenne pepper, spinach and kale. I'll throw in an extra meal of whole wheat pasta sometimes, and I'll eat some fruit, and drink a lot of tea daily. I don't eat salt, oil or added sugar at this time and it has worked out well. I do take an iodine pill and B12 of course. I track all other nutrients and ensure sufficient calories, too.

I think it would have been worth mentioning, re the hair-loss question; that this can be a common symptom of iron deficiency. Iron deficiency needs to be talked about more, as more often than not, a full iron panel (including ferritin) is not done and a doctor will prescribe antidepressants much of the time, attributing the symptoms to stress or depression. It's an incredibly big problem that needs to stop being overlooked. So many people, especially women are needlessly suffering and un-diagnosed. And then when diagnosed are not given the correct treatment. Please, we need more awareness. I ask that perhaps in the future you might have a webinar with a plant-based hematologist or some such.

But what about healing gut issues? I’ve been trying to eat plant based, but vegetables seem hard on my body because of the fiber. This results in 5-6 BMS a day and I feel weak and fatigue afterwards and I am not enjoy the increase of energy everybody talks about with a vegan diet. It’s frustrating. I’m starting to take probiotics, but any other recommendations are welcome. I’m tempted to eat lower fiber foods for relief, but not sure if that’s a good idea.

Some people really do have an issue with certain vegetables and you sound like you might be one of them. It sounds like it would be a good idea to avoid those foods and try to concentrate on some others that your body tolerates better.
@panes840
@panes840 4 жыл бұрын
Having 5 to 6 BMS a day is very normal for some people in the beginning. Your gut needs several weeks to adjust. It will! With regards to fatigue it could well be that you are not eating enough food. This is a common problem for some on a vegan diet. So you are eating nutritious dense food but less dense. You also need to cut out all processed oils (to virtually nothing) and eat Fat from nuts, seeds avacados. Drink plenty of water otherwise that can contribute to gut issues. Look at your sleep. Are you sleeping correctly, are you getting enough of a certain vitamin? Are yiu getting enough vitamin D to make melatonin to help you sleep? Better sleep means better digestion and therefore better gut issues. It can take up to 4 or 5 months for your guts to really transform. My BMS went from 6 to 2 or 3 which is normal but it too 8 to 10 weeks. Don't forget sugar. From table sugar to white flour it all contributes to gut health. Follow Dr Bernard Follow Dr Gregor Dr Colin Campbell Dr Essysten Dr M Mills Dr P. Popper And the wonderful Dr Klappa There are more great plant based Dr's but start with these.

A number of functional medicine doctors I follow say that a high fat diet (healthy fats of course) is actually good for hormonal balance and for overall good health. It seems that you are advocating for a low-fat diet. Do you mean low fat as in all fats or healthy fats?
@robrangerguy
@robrangerguy 3 жыл бұрын
What he means processed oils. So, for example don’t eat grape seeds oil, olive oil, conola oil& flax and hemp seed oil or coconut oil, margarine and butter. These are all unhealthy fats. Instead eat healthy fats, such as, avocados, coconut, olives, nuts and seeds. These are all in its whole forms and not processed and are good for health. As for cooking, you can use some water or lemon juice for sautéing onions and veggies. The food still comes out delicious without using any oil. As for your salads, you don’t need to pour olive oil in it. Just add lemon or vinegar with some herbs and it becomes super yummy.

I could help you. This was my nightmare for years. I can still get pain with veganism, too, though it's a big part of dropping it when I do other things, too. However, it can still happen. High sugar, high fat, high salt, those can increase it. And physical exercise regularly, like running or something that moves your gut for weeks ahead of the period, can help immensely.**** There's also certain herbs and foods you can eat afterwards that make you less sensitive to the pain. Greens can help, raw dark greens. And getting enough water daily so that you're having bowel movements can help. Like he says in the video, cheese is not great for it. But that goes for yeast as well, with one exception as sort of solution after it starts: mushrooms. The greens act like a blood cleanser. If you do these, especially the exercise, water, greens, and food eliminations, I'd be surprised if you didn't see a result. But respond for more info if you need it. I'm not a doctor. But I've been vegan for around 12 years, raw began before that (I did that specifically because of the bad periods). I have IBS and SIBO, and have had painful periods with endometriosis symptoms since 11. It's been difficult with years of 80 mg ibuprofen and I've had plenty of opportunities to learn what other people don't know the difficult way.

Why are the comments on the video with Dr. Will Bulciewicz deactivated? There where a few things that puzzled me and I would`ve asked a few more questions. I see, why diversity of foods are beneficial to our gut, but then again we have Doctors who say, that we could live of potatoes alone because they were such a complete food and that simplicity was the key. Actually we had ancestors living of a smaller variety of foods in the past and they survied just fine. Another thing I do not believe is, that if a certain bacteria dies out, Dr. Will says, that it cannot be reactivated undless you have a fecal transplant!!! Come on! When a baby is born, it will slowly built up it`s bacteria from foods it eats. This means, the bacteria comes in with the food from the outside. If this is the case, we can allways rebuilt bacteria just by eating the right foods. If we start eating wild herbs from nature again, we will even get B12 in. Just pluck them in a safe area where there is no pollution and do not wash them. Just shake them and get ridd of any obvios dirt and or little critters and eat them as is. This is how we get our good bacteria in. In Germany we are very familiar with collecting herbs in nature and using them in our daily foods, teas and herbal remedies.
