Brilliant video Emily!!! Grocery shopping used to be such a thing for me and I’d been in the stores for hours looking at labels. It’s such freedom to be able to go shopping now and be able to get what I need or want and leave without obsessing. I definitely made lists in the beginning and I also tried to buy things I used to have as a kid and that was helpful. I also went to the grocery store several times a week, or day, at first, and that’s okay too! Sending lots of love and big hugs to you from Hollywood!!! xoxo 😘🥰🫶❤️💕💕💕💕

Loved this video, Emily! I had a couple of anxiety attacks early on in recovery while food shopping and grounding techniques came in so helpful to minimize them. Eating something before shopping definitely helped, as well. Standing back while shopping and then choosing quickly, moving on - Yes! and Yes! Thank you for sharing your experiences! I always feel more empowered after watching.😊

As a support person, your videos are an incredibly important part of my daily learning curve and understanding of what 'works' and what definitely doesn't in living with and caring for a loved one with ED. In a support group I attend I tell other parents just how valuable these are. My person and I don't always watch them together, but we often tell each other to watch such and such....and what it was that was helpful in it. Thank you Emily for the enormous help you give to those whose vital role is frequently overlooked by the medical profession. Long years of experience in caring shows me how important this knowledge is for my ability to support but also to keep going/sane whilst doing so.

So practical and super helpful. Music is so helpful to me, but I never thought to use it while shopping. I'm definitely going to try that. I also loved the idea of picking the more challenging item when comparing. Of course it's great to not compare, but while I'm breaking that habit, you've given an excellent way to turn this into a pro recovery tool. Awesome. I've found creating as much "numbers-free" space in my fridge and pantry has been SUPER helpful to me too (I use camouflage duct tape as well ☺️). So cool to hear you share that one too. And so important to remove the "ED approved" options in the house. That's been very helpful to me too. I really loved ALL of your suggestions. Thank you again for this video, and I look forward to more in this series! ❤️💙

Loved this, as food shopping has been my nemesis in recovery . I am lucky because although I live alone I have a support worker who is allocated to support me with food shopping. However they're not specifically trained in Eating disorders, so the Ed CAN still creep in sometimes!!!..... Also there are things in this video that I struggle with but haven't been able to mention to them and get support with, so thank you..... All of these tactics will be helpful for me to use in the future or even show to the support worker so they understand better how they can support with any issues that might crop up. Great series and look forward to the next one! It's one thing buying the food but then eating it is obviously the problem!!

Hi Emily This is a bit old video, but I thought this video was the most suitable for my question:) Do you have any tips on what to do with price obsessions when grocery shopping? I’ve tried telling myself to not look at the price but it’s very difficult to not see it. I make a time restrict for how long I can spend there, and it’s helpful, but the prices is difficult for me:) also because I make a list, and always get home with what’s on that list, but I see so many other things when going there and can’t decide quick when it’s not on my list, and then the prices really pops up….. This is a weird question but I hope you have some tips:)
