Teloh is a traditional Javanese dish and it's oh so delicious ;) The recipe that I present to you in this video is my sister-in-law's, whom happens to be Javanese ;) This, by the way, is the TRADITIONAL way of making teloh, but the anchovies are often replaced by salted fish, which is also good, but not as good as this recipe ;)

In my opinion in the indonesian cuisine the best method is crush the ingredients, garlic, onion and pepper in a stone mortar called ulekan and tjobek and then fry it in oil. In a blender it gets very soggy. The rest of the recipe, great! Thanks.

OMG!!!!! Now that my son and daughter -in-law has finally move to their own place I have the kitchen to myself. I texted him last evening that I will now start cooking the Surinamese food that I liked, I did give him fair warning that I will be making dishes with the shrimp paste that is very potent. Amaru. you should let your fans know that you have a guaranteed way to make their 30 years old children leave your home. Just suggest that they make the Nasi and Bami Goreng to people who want their children to move out. One cook of the shrimp pastes and they will be out of their parents' home in no time,

LOOOOOOOOLLLLLLL!! This is the best thing I've heard today!! But I hear ya... my sister-in-law in Brazil reacted the same way when I first cooked with it... she ran out of the house, BUT: when the dish was ready, she ate twice, lol lol!

Ik heb je pas ontdekt. You are incredible, echt waar. Unusually good. Ik had toevallig trie in huis en geprobeerd volgens jouw recept. Het was perfect. Bedankt. Ik heb ook jouw recept van ala kondre soep geprobeerd. Was ook heerlijk.

Hi Amaru: New Subscriber here, so glad I found out about your channel. Have ever thought of renaming and relaunching your Suriname recipes as a "How to cook Suriname Food" series? I'm sure there would be a broader audience that would click on this video if it was named Suriname Terie& Teloh recipe. Either a relaunch of the old videos renamed or a new launch as I have seen you've grown over the years. I love learning how to cook from different cultures . Looking forward to checking out the rest of the videos when time permits. Originally from South America, sending love from New York!

I will try this recipe. This is what I miss the most about Suriname. I am just having the hardest time to find terie here in Perry, Georgia. I found some javanese stores in Atlanta so hopefully they will have it

Gerville Harlequin I can imagine... But check the Korean and Chinese supermarkets too and look for dried anchovies, it's the same thing... And make sure you get the larger ones and not the teeny tiny ones ;) Let me know if you were able to find them ;)

Hey, Ik ben een 22 jarige student en ik volg al jaren je kanaal om het 1 en ander te leren wat betreft de surinaamse keuken. Wat mij bij deze op valt is dat je niet in de beschrijving zet wat de ingrediënten zijn, en hoeveel je er nou precies in moet zetten. Zou wel handig zijn. Want bijvoorbeeld nu geef je aan voeg wat red peppers toe, maarja is dat 1, 2, 3, 4? En ik weet dat het per persoon verschilt wat hun smaak is, maar als je gewoon een algemene aanduiding zou geven zou het handig zijn. Voor de rest vind ik het een top kanaal, ik heb veel van je recepten al gemaakt, keep them video's coming! Gr. Angelo

Nou, met de juiste kruiden natuurlijk ;) Je kan naast zout en knoflook ook een bouillonblokje gebruiken, gullah Jawa (palmsuiker), laos, tamarinde... alles naar je eigen smaak ;)

Love all of your videos. I was born in suriname but my family and I moved to Canada when I was 9. Just wondering if you could tell me what kantur is not sure if I spelled it correctly.

Hi there and thank you for stopping by. Kentjor (also spelled "kencur", a.k.a. aromatic ginger) is used mostly in Asian cooking, either dried or as a powder. Check out this link for more info: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaempferia_galanga ;)

Another one of my favs. I love teloh!!! Especialy when the terie and the casava are nice and crispy. This is crispy salty spicy goodnes....it looks soooo yummy. I know what I'm eating this weekend ;).

FOODANDTHESINGLEGUY My mom made some for me because she already had all the ingredients at home. I went over and I watched her cook and when it was ready I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into those crispy casava and terie...yummmm ahahah ;). She made the teloh with bacalao and terie and let me tell you ......it was to die for.

@@foodandthesingleguy het is mij aardig gelukt. De smaak is perfect. Alleen hebt ik het te bruin gebakken.maaaar trust me het is lekker krokant. Ander keer zal k wel erop letten dat ik het niet zolang bakt. Wat ik wel hebt gedaan ipv gember in blokjes snijden... Hebt ik het gechoppert 😊. Thanks you
