Welcome to Kalami Cebu Food Wars!
In our pilot episode, we are featuring Cebu's most famous dish, The Lechon! We pit the lechon of two of Cebu's most popular Lechon Restaurants. See what Cebuanos prefer. ;) Please support my local food initiative, be a patron: / karenderiaexplorer .
#LechonWar has been trending among Cebuanos in social in the past week triggered by a "controversial" ABS-CBN article about Zubuchon. People were fighting over lechon and some even bashed the featured brand.
Instead of just voicing out an opinion, we decided to let the people decide. Zubuchon has expanded to several branches all over Cebu from just being a lechon stall at the BTC a few years back. They somewhat revolutionized the industry by opening restaurants with Lechon as the centerpiece. Zubuchon is so successful in their venture that they operate 9 restaurants and soon they will bring their brand of Lechon to Manila. In this episode, we are pitting their lechon against Rico's Lechon.
Rico's Lechon is famous for their spicy lechon. In 2016, they opened up two classy restaurants headlining their lechon. Rico's Lechon is more of the traditional lechon. They did not tweak much ingredients and methods on how to make the delicious Lechon Cebu.

Hmmm... Rico's jud the best! :) There was one time when I go back to Manila, I was the only one carrying Rico's lechon box and the rest were Zubuchon. Clearly mas convenient kasi nasa loob ung store nila sa boarding gates. :)

Zubuchon is just overrated. The best in cebu are Alejo's, Rico's and CNT.

Did you try LECHARON IN CEBU? Delicious sad. A different way of cooking lechon. I think Jeffrey is the owner. Located at Foda Rama talisay and new open in Mactan. I don't know where exactly mall in mactan cebu.

Rico's lechon is amazing.., Zubuchon however is not good, ordinary para sakin mas panalo pa elars lechon ..Kaya nag tataka ako sa nag sasabe na best yung zubuchon both i tried ng nasa cebu ako

Although the same lechon but different part which crunchy is belly.. It should be same part so it can be determine.. Much better is the taste not the crunchy skin, try it again.

Well, we are going to have a grand #lechonwar this coming September. The best lechon from all parts of Cebu will converge in one venue. I will keep you all posted and I hope to see you there.

we'll wait for that day, try to use the whole Pig or just Belly part... cooking belly is easy to make it crunchy not unlike the whole pig.

Jerome Ferrer the lechon wars festival will be inviting some of the best lechon from all around Cebu and even out of town. There will even be live lechon cook off. I will let you know once everything is finalized.

First time ko kumain sa Zubuchon sa new branch nila sa Centris. Although ubos na ung original lechon nila so offer nila sa akin spic lechon. I bought P930 or large, hindi ko naubos so inuwi ko sa bahay, nilagay sa ref pero the following day panis kaagad.. sayang ung pera ko..

mak hines trademark na ng cebu lechon ang pagiging salty. Diyan sila nakilala. If you prefer less salty dun ka sa manila

zubuchon has the best tasting sauce, Im talking about the the crispi pata style sauce , It has an unkown ingriedient that makes different from other crispi pata sauces , i dont like lechon sauce , there all too sweet. .

Rico's lechon jud sa? Way pabor pabor. Maskin ako wa pa pud ko katilaw ug Zubuchon. Pero hinuon maayo nalang ang lechon de Cebu naabot na sa Manila through Zubuchon's efforts. Pero ang mga Bisaya, lahi ra jud ilang passion sa lechon.

Really? Rico's better than zubuchon? Hmmm, haven't tried the latter but, the former was just okay when i visited Cebu. I still prefer Kapampangan's way of cooking lechon.

To be honest, when it comes to lechon, timing is important. If you get it hot and fresh, it is gonna be awesome wherever you eat it.

+Kalami Cebu!!! I believe that is one factor. Another one would be having different taste like Cebu's more on the salty side; Bicol like it spicy, etc. What matters is we all enjoy eating without waste. 👌
