Thanks again Alicia some great tips for after care, I have a note book now lol, the last loop that you did with your stirrup that's a game changer I'm going to do that now and where did the get that rug I love it, I have a thing for rugs lol. I've learnt more from you that any instructor I had at pony club 30+ years ago ie safety understanding and not feeling stupid to ask questions. Alicia could you do video on saddle fittings ie where the flap should be to your leg, the best place for the girth to sit etc as horses and riders come in all shapes and sizes and what to look for when buy non custom made new and second hand saddle. I am very short 5'11" and in the thigh am finding very hard to find a dressage saddle to fit me and my has a very large scar across her ribcage and is slightly down hill will this effect a saddle fitting as well? Aww, such a shame with the audio. This video is so worth a 'voice over' where your audio cuts out completely. That way you wouldn't have to re-do the whole thing. I watched to see what similarities we had, as I too had an OTTB. I'm so glad you dried off his legs - horses HATE rivulets of water trickling down their legs. It feels like flies nibbling, to them. I always wiped down his face too, because of that same feeling. I was surprised that you used such a nice, fleece-y halter for bath time!?? It would get so dirty after a few times & who wants to sit in a wet, cold halter? The other part I liked esp. is when you took his bridle off. I did the same w/ the ears, but then grabbed the snaffle ring so that when he opened his mouth, the bit didn't ever drop down on his teeth. I helped it gently get out. I noticed when I first got him that he was sensitive there & I imagine he got a few smacks to his teeth prior to me. He seemed to really appreciate that. Again, this was a great video - SOOOO many people just drag the saddle off, not really caring if a girth buckle smacks their horse on a boney part of their leg. 😡🤬 You're such a great teacher & if you have students, they're really lucky to have you. Mr. Mowgley is a lucky, lucky boy. His fate as an OTTB could've been so much worse! He is stunning & I hope he becomes your best partner & your ♥️ horse. PS: no, he does not like the drain in the wash stall!!! 😖😁

How do you teach a horse to accept water at face. My horse struggles with water on her head. She doesn't like much handling on the head/face area. I try to respect her, but she needs to be properly groomed and cared for. Your video is so educational and I've learned a lot just watching the first two Mowgley films

I would love to have Walker like yours. Such a awesome piece of Equipment to cool down and exercise your horses. The important tip of making sure your horse is dry so the horse won't roll. Fantastic advice. I spend at least 45 minutes tacking up & cooling down my horses after their training session. I do alot of bonding during the grooming part. Thank you again for all your hard work. Also what brand is your helmut?

Great video. With water restrictions in Australia especially in summer hosing each leg for 5 minutes is not possible so ice boots are a good investment and poultice. I've also invested in an Equissage to help in recovery after work. There is certainly alot more to looking after our horses than just riding😀😀

I don’t have my own horse at the moment, but I always want to care for any I ride or one day own the best I can:) I would love a video on how you care for your horses in the dead of winter. Is there a certain temperature you stop riding them at and if so are there other things you can do to help them stay fit?

I noticed the dry patch under his withers. I know that is a super sensitive place and am always worried about too much pressure there. How did you fit your saddle, half pad etc so that there was no pressure on that triangle patch on the side of the withers?

I have a question. Am I doing something wrong, when I put on a rope halter, and lounge my horse in it? He seems to like it, and puts his head wery low. I am thinking this stretches his upper body. But some says this work can do harm. I am not a fan of extra gear that force them to be on the bit. I do this work with Equiband.

H I Alicia! Could you do a video on how to keep your geldings special parts clean? I've noticed mine has a lot of smegma build up and I'm not sure what the best way is to keep it clean. Right now we use some lukewarm water to rinse it out a bit but it keeps coming back.

Just a comment in relation to your stirrup recommendation. I know an older lady that always put her hand on the neck(just like you do), her horse put his head down & she ended up tumbling down his neck.

So sad about the audio. 😢 What is the rug you used on him? I use a wool cooler but it has a lot more fabric than that lovely one.

My horse is 16’3 and I ride western. I’m still struggling to be strong enough to lift my saddle up and over so I don’t pull it across his withers. Tall horse problems.

I always take the boots off before the saddle thinking that I need to let his legs cool. Is that incorrect?

What should we do if we notice our horse is sore in their back? Are there things we can do at home to help in addition to calling a vet or maybe a Chiro? Assuming the saddle has been checked and fits correctly?

My ottb would just let me pamper him all day long, he always wants to be with me 😂 we ride bitless and it made such a difference to my boy , is that something you would try? Xx

I have to slide down due to a dodgy knee but my Boy knows this

When I ask my thoroughbred to canter, he charges into it. I am able to slow him down to an ok speed but he still charges into it. He also refuses to pick up the left lead. I can and have worked with him on his left lead for two or three hours and just keep asking for the canter and bringing him down when he gets the wrong lead he just won't do it. I've tried tilting his head a little and a lot, I've tried asking with the the other leg, I've even tried asking with no leg at all and just kissing at him, He just doesn't get it. I've talked with my riding instructor and we both think it might be because he was a race horse, but we can't figure out how to fix it. Any suggestions?? A video would be very helpful to if your willing to make one. Edit: He also won't keep his head down. Once again probably because he was a race horse. We did not buy him straight off the track he was a trail horse for a few years for the people we bought him from.
