Simple Empanada Recipe while on Quarantine
Good morning💕As expected we are still on quarantine.Enough time to try new recipes💖
Ingredients:
3 cups of All purpose flour (350gms)
Extra flour for dusting
2 1/2 tbsp white sugar
1/2 tsp baking soda & 1/2 tsp vinegar (OR 1/2 tsp baking powder)
1/4 cup butter (1/4 cup margarine or 1/4 cup vegetable shortening)
1 whole egg
1/2 cup cold water

I'm currious; if I make savory empanada, can I leave the sugar out or does it have another purpose?

Yes you can leave the sugar out or minimize it as well. Actually this is savory but we Filipinos like it with a tinge of sweetness 💕

Is there a difference between using the mixer or doing it with bare hands?

If you are doing a big batch I recommend using a mixer for ease. But it doesn’t matter with a small batch because we are going for a flaky crust.
