The hunt for wonderkids in FM takes different forms. The regional scouting to hunt for the regen or newgen of your dreams. The watching Zealand videos to see how Football Manager has rated the world’s best young footballers. Then there’s the state of the art youth facilities that might just give you a wonderkid for free. I have a more direct approach to help concentrate your scouting. The best youth facilities in the world you don’t know exist, in areas where you’ll be able to afford their transfer fee in Football Manager.
Good young players are worth their weight in gold in FM because they cancel out any other mistake you make, as long as you can scout well enough to find them. My global hunt to identify the world’s best unknown youth academies in FM can save you time, save you scouting resources, or even let you find wonderkids on no budget at all. Football Manager has its secrets, but knowing which youth intakes to check based off their reputation is a real way to identify hot prospects that I feel could help all of y’all enjoy FM that little bit more. Exactly what I came to say - that's about as close to the centre of the country that you can get, hence the England facilities being there, and seeing as England only use it a few times a season, why let it go to waste when one of the Midlands could use it on a 3 year deal at a time.

@@hulbertosolano1378 possibly - I'm not sure on that, but I do know that they were using their own canteen, changing rooms and showers then then driving to and from SGP to train. But in 2018 they moved all of their teams on a 3 year deal, then in 2020 they moved to SGP fully, to be able to use all of the facilities. Maybe they have a 100 year deal on the pitches alone? But there have been multiple negotiations to change how much of the site is used and how many of their teams use them

I'm from Burton and having seen these facilities in person... wow. It's a recent training complex built for all of England's national teams of all ages. Any decent local talent would play for Leicester, Derby, Nottingham Forest, Birmingham, Aston Villa, though.... so I dunno how accurate FM would be to show this haha

Fm uses youth recruitment and reputation as factors which also affect whether you get the best youth talents, the higher youth facilities just mean they will come into your club with a higher current ability closer to their potential

@@addisontruscott8220 Same issue as Portugalete in Spain using the satellite campus for Athletic Bilbao. The issue is until the team gets to Segunda Division, that team is fighting about 20 other Basque clubs and is 6th best until hitting La Liga or Osasuna/Alaves/Eibar get relegated. Once in La Liga, then Eibar is likely behind on facilities and Portugalete would be equal with Osasuna.

Hi, Zealand. South African here. Just wanted to shed more light on why Cape Town Spurs has exceptional facilities. Athlone Stadium is/was the stadium used by Ajax Cape Town, which is affiliated to the well known Ajax Amsterdam - they even wear the same home kit! Cape Town Spurs though plays in the 2nd tier of South African football and, in real life, does not produce many wonderkids. Those would come from the likes of Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates which are the two biggest clubs in the country. Hope this helps.

The CT Spurs/Ajax facilities have produced the most PSL players. The players are sold to Orlando Pirates, Chiefs and Sundowns. Such players: King George Maluleka Khama Billiat, Clayton Daniel's, Sameegh Doutie and Thulani Serero my favourite player ♥ to mention a drop in the ocean.

Red Star Belgrade have the absolute max youth recruitment and excellent youth facilities, with Serbia as a nation only being fractionally behind Belgium in terms of youth rating. A scout there is essential.

After all these years playing FM with Red Star, I don't think I've ever got a world beater from youth intake, even though I upgraded youth facilities as far as they could go and employed the best HoYD I could find. From my experience, Partizan got better wonderkids every single save, and I had them a lot; then again, FM could be nerfing player's youth intake.

@@J_Vermillion if I had to speculate I think they have nerfed it. I remember years ago after 10 years in the game all the top league teams would have world class players because so many of them came through. I think they’ve tuned it down, been playing as Dresden In my multiplayer game with a friend and I to have max everything after many years and still not great regens. That said I’ve had maybe 4-5 who are good enough to play, either squad or otherwise. Just keep trucking and you’ll get those players who will be of use to you

(in reality) from Romania ,the best wonderkid factory is at Viitorul Constanta - the club managed by Gheorghe Hagi himself Ianis Hagi (Glasgow Rangers) ,Dennis Man (Parma), Florinel Coman (FCSB) , Razvan Marin (Cagliari) are few examples by youngs trained here in their beginning of career so , in the game of FM ,always keep a look at the players coming from this club

Burton Albion train at St George's Park which is owned by the English FA. England train here for when they have home fixtures or just before tournaments so you can imagine how state of the art it is.

Oh boy, as a Belgian and a mega fan of Standard de Liège, it's nice to see the club in a YT video and for a good reason! Hoping to see someone do a save with them one day as they have been garbage the last few seasons. A "fallen baby tall person club" (can't really call them Giant) challenge maybe?

Another club at roughly the Ajax level is Viitorul Constanța in Romania (Gheorghe Hagi's academy). I built like half of my first team out of their rejects after I got promoted to Liga I and they pump out like a dozen great regens every year.

I always liked going after the failed wonderkids from PSG, Real & Barça. You pick them up at about 22 on a Bosman and your scouts still give them 4 1/2 star potential.

Club Brugge was very good in my save: they have the best wonderkid for gk, df(i) , cm and st, while having also some other good regens. Very impresive

Not any more. Their badge is now a Spartan's helmet (best description I can give). But Google still have the Ajax badge because the affiliation has only just ended

What peeps need to remember, is if a team has top Youth setups its still relevant to their country, IE: Man City with a 20 Youth setup are going to produce far better players than if Melb Victory of Australia had 20 Youth setup, because it heavily takes into account the Countries & Leagues reputation along with a few other things.

SI did Ajax dirty. They have one of the finest youth academies in the World. By every quantifiable metric Ajax' youth academy is better than PSGs, Bayerns, and Manchester Citys. Only Partizan Belgrade have produced more professional footballers in European top leagues than Ajax. Both of them should have 19 or 20 Youth Intake and Youth Training.

@@pedrofontes7932 they would probably be amongst the top clubs developing young adults, but they actually don't produce those players themselves, they have good scouting networks, especially in S. America and bring players from there. While Partizan, for example, does similar thing to Barca's LA Masia where they bring local kids when they're 7 or so, provide everything for them, and develop them through the academy. I might be wrong, that's just my perspective. I'm also Partizan fan, so I'm not objective 🤣

For exemple lool até Benfica: João Félix, Cancelo, Ruben dias, Bernardo Silva, Ederson, Gonçalo Guedes, André Gomes, Nelson Semedo...and we have many more to come... I would like to add another team on your list of good academies, FC Viitorul(now Farul Constanta) which is the second best youth academy in Eastern Europe after Red Star from Serbia. Half of the players that are in the Romanian national team come from Viitorul. Viitorul developed players like Ianis Hagi(Rangers), Razvan Marin(Cagliari), Alexandru Mitrita(New York City FC, now loaned to Al-Ahli), and in the game they have excelent youth facilities and exceptional youth recruitment. There are a lot of gems there, it's a team to watch in FM21.

I am still playing in the older version but i love finding those good old gems that you buy for 2 million and sell for 55 million :). Many times i find them at clubs like Basel or sjachtar but also Zenit quite a few. Countries i like, aside from the obvious, are like ukraine Russia Croatia serbia and czech. During every international break i go and scout the Countries under 21 and 18 and the main squad players under the age of 20.n

Something to remember on this topic is that the youth rating of the country the club is located in also makes a big difference in terms of the quality of regens produced. For instance for his Belarussian example, though the club has excellent facilities and youth recruitment/academy coaching, the youth rating for Belarus is only mediocre at 62 (highest is Brazil at 163). So while you can sometimes find a hidden gem of a wonderkid produced in Belarus, you're not going to regularly get top tier wonderkids there due to the mediocre youth rating. You'll have more consistent luck with the clubs located in nations with a fairly high youth rating, like Colombia, which has a youth rating of 117 (which for reference is higher than Portugal and only slightly below England in game).

maybe they are too well known for your list but the best youth facilities in Belgium are in Anderlecht. the club club has produced some top players like Kompany, Lukaku adn Adnan Januzaj and in recent years Yoeri Thielemans, Dennis Praet and Jeremy Doku. their 1st team is also a very young team. think of Yari Verschaeren. Marco Kana and Sambi Lokonga

The world class Aussie in my journeyman save actually came through Dortmund's academy. He ended up going full Declan Rice and later declared for Germany. It was a sad day when that happened.

Have my Wigan City save and I probably 5-6 youngsters from Burton and my top striker who is now valued at 120 million at 20 years old is signed from them who I swooped right away right after the regen intake.

Krasnodar is OP, my last save I bought 3 world class potential players from them, after I was done with the save I used the editor to see the potential ability of my players, those 3 dudes from Krasnodar were 178, 184 and 192 PA.

Escola de varsovia 7 (or 8?) tier in poland have the top facilites in game. They start only whit junior teams until they reach reach the age of 1st team now they have a senior team whit that players, The academy is from Barcelona same logo same kits. To play with them you need a poland database but is a fun save to try a youth challenge .

Another Ajax level youth facilities team that's super under the radar is IMG academy. The players are all under 18 and on amateur contracts meaning you can sign them on a free as well.

Don’t know if anyone’s mentioned this, but Cape Town Spurs not so long ago were known as Ajax Cape Town, had the same badge just with Cape Town instead of Amsterdam and the same kits. They were just sold off or abandoned from the Ajax group for producing anything commercially or talent wise since Steven Pienaar

The reason Burton Albion have state of the art facility is because they train at st Georges park which was created by the English FA to develop the English national players. This is the place where the England team meet up to train when they are on international duty, and because the FA wanted it in the middle of the country. Burton albion are lucky boys

Just a note on Cape Town Spurs... they did do it with an affiliate as they used to be called Ajax Cape Town and were a feeder club for Ajax that recently had their ties cut because they weren't producing good enough players to turn a profit

I started a new game as Villa. It's January and I'm top by 4 points without reloading. Brad Young who is a youth player and has 1 star can't stop scoring.. I haven't even been reloading when getting bad results, I am genuinely in that position. I'll play one last game and throw the kids on intending to reload if I do get a bad result but they have been holding their own and winning games. I'm just waiting for it to all go pear shaped but Villa's youth players are insane.

I forget the name of the team, but there was a team in São Tomé and Príncipe that had the highest grade youth recruitment/coaching in FM20. They were an affiliate club for Porto, I believe. I’m sure someone could find the name.

Genk has produced a couple of the best Belgian national team players with De Bruyne en Courtois. There something else for keepers with delivering 2 of the 3 Belgian national keepers with courtois en kasteels. Vandevoord is already called the new courtois in genk

Boreham Wood in the Vanarama National League starts FM21 as a affiliate of Arsenal in which they share youth facilities/coaching & recruitment. quite a surprise when I stated unemployed and wound up as their manager.

Just found out. Kozakken Boys from 3rd tier of the Netherlands has exceptional Junior Coaching and Recruitment and State of the art facilities. And just won 3-0 against the youth team of PSV.

Cape Town Spurs used to be Ajax Cape Town, they kept the facilities from their Ajax affiliation which is why their facilities are so good.

also one more question sorry - do all clubs share the same youth intake day? i.e. if youth intake day hits my inbox on may 1st (random date) will youth intake day also hit at the same time as say krasnodar's? in that case theoretically your best option is to scout all of krasnodar's 15-16 year olds on may 2nd. if it's different, will you need to check krasnodar's teams every day, or is there a better way to know? sorry for my inexperience.

Dont know if they are to reach world class levels but other clubs in Colombia are really good too. Such as Deportes Tolima and Independiente Santa Fe. I play mainly in South America and those clubs produce many really good players that go for good money to Europe. Good money for South American clubs that is, very cheap for European clubs.

Was just going to say st georges Park is England national training and development centre.... hence the high training facilities. Burton must utilise those facilities.

Burton have the best coz they use the national team training facilities.... which I legit didn’t know until i saw this, and googled it. Also... was looking for a new team to develop and take to the top. Burton might be that team

How do you add obscure countries leagues though? there's no option to manage the mali league or the algerian league where the JMG academies are.

Yeah some teams are wonderkid factories but I can't fight any regen in these teams (I can't add Belarusian League for Rguor Minsk) but I want some west african, east asian regens in my save. What should I do?

Biased, but my favourite team for young players is Western Suburbs in New Zealand. They 'only' have good youth and training facilities, but have the best youth recruitment in the country, and it's amateur so all players can be signed for free - the top newgens can easily reach EPL level. They're the senior representative side of the Ole Football Academy, who's produced some of the most promising players in New Zealand football history. They also popped out Tyler Boyd, so that's cool

I tend to try and upgrade training and youth facilities. Until the team decide its 1 or the other. Great, scout good youth players but cant do much with them OR I make players good but gotta spend the money for it.
