I've been sitting on something I'd never spoken about before for nearly 9 years, and after watching Andy come forward and other players, specifically Yan, after reading the latter's article where he said he wished he'd told someone earlier so it might have prevented the trail of boys being abused by Bennell, I finally made the call to the police today. I realised if Andy and all these guys can put aside their fears in order to help and prevent others from being abused, than there's no reason I shouldn't either. Thankyou Andy and all the rest of you football players, if it wasn't for you I would have never found the courage to pick the phone and report the abuse.

Big hug for you friend, thank you for your courage. Don't try to handle the rest alone, it's time to share the burden now xxxx

I'm amazed this man has had the courage to come forward and raise awareness about this. So many people would be embarrassed or ashamed. Good for him, by doing this he is making it less likely that crimes like this will happen in the future.

Andy you really are a brave man what you're doing will help others, and your courage will act as a beacon to others and give them the strength to come forward. Well done Sir!

Yes, he showed incredible strength and bravery to go public with his utterly horrific story. I've just read his unbelievably moving and powerful book, Position of Trust. My heart goes out to him and his family who have suffered so much at the hands of this evil b@stard.

This man Andy Woodward deserves a medal for what he has done for us victims of abuse at the hands of animals who held trusted jobs and not only abused us but all so abused there positions by grooming us young boys but all so pulling the wool over our parents eyes and used threats to frighten the life out of us kids so that we felt we couldn't tell our parents or any body in authority because these dogs are very clever and we all believed the lies they told us about what would happen if any one ever found out what was happening. I personally owe everything to Andy and the other brave men who came forward and told there stories as i would never have summoned the courage to tell my own story and make my statement to the police. This man is my hero and deserves some recognition for the bravery and courage he has shown. Thank you andy.

They are clever aren't they, the sickos?! And so fucking pleased with themselves! I'm glad you feel supported and able to make your statement. I know that just because there are others, it still takes massive courage to go and do that. That great swimmy pit of cold in your guts feels like it will swallow you. But it won't , the world is here for you, the time is now. We are a community, or tribe, of sorts. We don't think less of you - we think more of you for your courage. Don't try to do it all alone ok? I wish you all the luck and good health in the world mate. xxxx

Incredible courage. This man in particular, to sit there alone describe these events, is unbelievably courageous. I've just watched his second interview, where he is *so* emotional - because others came forward to stand with him. Horrific story of a typical monster, standing between them and a beautiful dream about 'the beautiful game'. I wish I could hug every single one of them and tell them: you've carried this burden all these years and carried that monsters shame and it takes such courage to speak out. But there is a tomorrow beyond these days, there is support and we (women) will still love you - we will not think less of you now. Quite the opposite.

Respect to Andy Woodward. Makes me so angry. The hopes of young lads preyed on by a deviant who should be long gone.

They're not "child abuse allegations", his rapist was convicted.
@sexyhomeowner93457 жыл бұрын
But those convictions were for abusing other boys, not the man interviewed here. In fact one of them was in America, Bennell was then deported and carried on his perversion in England.
@IsThatEtchas7 жыл бұрын
Amaechi Jones No, he was also then convicted in England specifically for abusing this man.
@sexyhomeowner93457 жыл бұрын
IsThatEtchas He was convicted in England upon returning from the U.S. but for abusing Ian Ackley, who came forward after his shenanigans were revealed in the British documentary Dispatches. Bennell then pleaded to 22 other charges which were factored into his sentence but there were still 23 others left on file. Mr. Woodward's claim of abuse ( which I believe ) is a new one. The police is thankfully now investigating it.

How cruel and heartless are those who force their way on innocent children and all they get is 10 years for that? Also, this child abuser wasn't Asian by race was he? His 'origin' his 'culture' or 'football culture' didn't play a role to make him nasty and cruel?
@sexyhomeowner93457 жыл бұрын
Bennell is very much Caucasian.

I'm sick and tired of hearing about this story now. And I have suspicions that some of these guys are making these stories up, to get attention, sympathy, hugs, and compensation.
