Learned lots in that thanks. Always wondered why they do the rows of brickettes. Also always wondered about saggy lines on long runs. It's an education.

Depending on how strict they are with lintels, if you leave 440-450 for your vents you don’t have to guess where the vents are going but as I say they tend to like a 100mm baring, on my site.. 150! Oh and Don’t worry about the measurements for the vents. As long as it’s not in a door or too close the the gas and they’re some what aesthetic it doesn’t mater

Would love to know how important it is for the concrete footings to be clean to lay on. Perhaps do a test some time and lay an isolated block on spare footing, one on clean concrete and the other on muddy water. Allow to set and then see how much force to smack off with a hammer, gentle taps the start with. If I was site I'd dig a drain hole and pump out for you to give somewhere to sweep into.
@smtsoftwaresolutions19662 жыл бұрын
I agree. I would have to sweep and clean the footings off. Can't see how the blocks stick to a muddy footing but I suppose with tons of weight on it does it matter. As a site roofer I know hips and ridge would fail in days if bedded on a mucky surface.
@johncoppock38232 жыл бұрын
@@smtsoftwaresolutions1966 Ridge tiles makes sense that needs to be clean. In the bottom of the trench it will have soil/hardcore on both(?) sides of the block when completed which will stop it moving. Have to be careful though with the JCB I guess. It just feels wrong though. A retaining wall might have a different requirement. I remember cleaning the top of the footings for that, and it repeatedly raining and getting covered in mud again 🤣

@markbutler8052 жыл бұрын
Considering sliders are small hamburgers no more than 5cm across and served in a bun I think he was well within his rights to reprimand you, imagine if everyone was allowed to drive with small patties typically served with pickles and onions on their feet instead of sturdy footwear!!

I gotcha. Yea same over here tbh. We do a house in about 2 weeks and I probably make like 3500 a month after taxes so we do 1 house a month if we’re lucky and we’re talking like high end homes by high end builders. All stone and ariscraft. And winter takes forever cause we have to tarp our work area up. Like a huge tent. Make a ton more work n take five times longer for the same pay. N more cost from us paying for propane to heat it all day n night.
