My receiver beeps at random even when I am nowhere near the correct height. Sometimes it gets so bad, it just beeps continuously at any height and I can't tell when I am in the beam or level. Kind of as if it gets interference even though I'm in the woods with nothing around. Has done it randomly since new. Any ideas?

Good question. Not sure on that. For us, if we reset the calibration it usually fixes that. Other than that I'd check the batteries or contact the manufacturer/ seller.

but what if you want to measure beneath the surface?

Not sure what the situation is, but that pole with the receiver can be adjusted quite a bit. You just have to be able to make visual contact with the laser.

Like ya said, that’s kinda how you use it. I was hoping you were going to tell us how to use it on a slope instead of what I figured out in 5 minutes on my own

Yep, we used it just a bit on a slope when we first started our septic field, but mostly for prepping this foundation.
