I attended Auchinleck Talbot v Cumnock Juniors in the West of Scotland League. This Ayrshire derby is one of the most famous in Scottish football! #football #soccer #scotland

Thank you for the coverage on these Lower League teams in Scotland 😮 The Montrose match ended 4 - 3 to Montrose today 😅 Hopefully you have time to go Hanwell town in April time and any other stadium tours down near London such as afc Wimbledon. David is now a subscriber of your work as you met him in this village. :)

From Killie On Wednesday, to Auchinleck on the Saturday... You get around Sam 😊 I was brought up in Ayrshire so Junior football was a huge part of that, especially as the mines were still thriving and each village had their own huge local identities, which pretty much summed up why the rivalry between Auchinleck and Cumnock was so keen. I remember crowds of thousands for Scottish cup ties etc, and 'Talbot were very much THE team to beat for many years... I was a Hurlford lad so my allegiances still hold dear there along with Killie... loved this one AGAIN... following on from Rugby Park against Rangers... Thank you for all of your videos 😊

Great video. It certainly isn’t as bad as it used to be. I remember in the 90s and early 00s used to be lots of police about and bricks and bottles being thrown over the wee stand. Talbot won that day also.

Another brilliant vid Sam. Delighted with Talbot's win today. With all the games in hand - still in contention to win the league I think, despite being in 7th for now. Kello Rovers managed a draw as well, so not too bad by this season's standards. Still bottom of the 3rd division though unfortunately.

@RABONICS3 ай бұрын
I would also say that the Kilbirnie Ladeside V Beith Juniors Derby would be 2nd after the Cumnock V Auchenleck derby. I don't know if it's still the same but I remember when I stayed in Kilbirnie and they both played they also had the police horses and Xtra police mini buses etc. Years ago a game between the both sides was abandoned due to crowd trouble that the played the game behind closed doors at Firhill in Glasgow.

Do they still eat each other in rural Ayrshire??
@eugcrum86373 ай бұрын
The derby has evolved into something a lot more tame than it once was. The way the game is played now is more slick and less blood and thunder. Couple that with the fact that Talbot almost always win it and with the mines all closed results in it quietened a bit. Still a tremendous derby. Tell me anywhere outside the two top tiers where you will get a turnout like that?
@Michael-kt6gi3 ай бұрын
Falkirk, Hamilton
@eugcrum86373 ай бұрын
Perhaps, but Hamilton are not famed for having a great support. But yes, that fixture probably could attract a good crowd. But those two teams should really be in tier two anyway.
@jamesrowe36063 ай бұрын
Matt Busby and Jock Stein were both Lanarkshire men, but Bill Shankly was born just a few miles from the Ayrshire/Lanarkshire border, so they were geographically close to each other as the crow flies. It was really coal mining that they had in common more than the geography and in the pits there was true comradeship. As Bill Shankly put it, "The socialism I believe in isn't really politics. It is a way of living. It is humanity. I believe the only way to live and to be truly successful is by collective effort, with everyone working for each other, everyone helping each other, and everyone having a share of the rewards at the end of the day. That might be asking a lot, but it's the way I see football and the way I see life."
