It's the 40th anniversary of Talking Heads' masterpiece concert film, "Stop Making Sense." A24 remastered and rereleased the movie, bringing it to new audiences and longtime fans. Talking Heads frontman David Byrne returns to Fresh Air to speak with Terry Gross about songwriting, dancing, and yes, the big suit.

I had no idea the "Like Human's do" guy was the same as the "Once in a lifetime" music video guy! I just found this out today and had to look up this guy in an interview!!! Love his music!!

Hi...incredible interview. I was a senior medical student at Ucla in Westwood and was introduced to this band in 1984 just before my graduation..I saw this concert live at the pantages theater in Los Angeles..and was blown away...how did David bryne find and incorporate Bernie worriel of parliament funkadelic and the other black musicians and create this incredible sound..! Absolutely one of the best concerts I have seen and I have seen them all...@@

My personal interpretation of the big suit is that it makes the body huge and makes the head smaller, much like what happens when you dance or perform music. Suddenly all the stuff you’re worried about goes away and you’re just there in your body, feeling and being alive.

In 1984 I was riding my BMX breaking bones on jumps and burms. Among other things, I would visit my lazy mate to wake him up by lunchtime. Paul would play Talking Heads cds, hearing these weird jumpy lyrics - worked on my ears. I read New Scientist, enjoying a music tech article Burn contributed in the mid 2000s. Stop making sense was a perfect segway to our time of fake news and political talking heads of not making sense! Leon Zembekis, Australia.

There is an episode of the TV show Ben Casey MD titled Suffer the Little Children (1963) with several passages of dialogue remarkably similar to the lyrics of Psycho Killer. I’ve long wondered if there was a connection, intentionally or unconsciously, or if anyone else on earth has noticed…
