I seem to have committed a cardinal sin and forgot to include her best voice line: "Ελα μαλάκα" (ela malaka): Come on, fucker! I think this happens when she gets guardbroken. (Could also be idiot or dumbass depending on how vulgar you wanna be.)

I suddenly like Varangian Guard a lot more now 😂 No, but really, hearing Greek words from the Varangian really surprised me watching the video. I simply thought that the whole cultural expansion bit only existed as a lore bit, and I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the translations. A little input on my end though: The word μαλάκα a bit loosely translated. It in its most literal form means “wanker”, but overall is just a strong insult word. I only know this as someone of Greek descent and am not an actual citizen, so I could be wrong however.

Embros (Έμπρός) in Greek actually translates directly to "Onward", it makes sense since it's after spawn. Yes, I will fistfight the person who helped you.

@@danestambaugh255 They tried, it was hated as it necessitated new VAs, and then you run into the issue of a character sounding like 2 different people, or dropping old voicelines. Heck there's still that issue iirc with some added voicelines. And unless youre able to track down and convince to work and pay, and for some bring back dead people, you can't get all of the original VA's.

@@Xrysoulos of course greek but did u forgot mate that varangians created the rus's of kiev and novgorog at the 9th century thanks to riourik and Oleg and that means that they mixed up with slavic people so varangian guards that intervened under the bizantine crown between the 10th and 11th century spoke slavic aswell

Εμπρός (embros) is actually more of a calling or greeting, like telling someone "Proceed" or asking them what they mean to say. Usually used when answering a phone/door

Quick correction 2:15 she says "εμπρός" which means forwards, similar to "Afram". The accent for the island name is on the first syllable in contrast to εμπρός having it on the second and it wouldn't fit in the context she is in either (source: I'm Greek). Not sure why she says that though, unless restaurants are a thing in Valkenheim. (She could've been to a restaurant in the Byzantine empire, however, since we have proof that Greco-Roman and their influenced cultures had restaurants.)

Honestly, a bit disappointed the only Greek we hear is one word in a sentence during respawn or revival given what they said about her during the reveal stream. I guess they slightly make it up with Afreea's THUNDER THIGHS voiceline and...oh. She says ela malaka? Okay, ubi you get a yellow card not red card now. Was wondering how long until you'd make this, heh. You're quite punctual with this stuff - appreciate the videos. Its always cool to learn these voicelines; I actually use them for some tabletop games I run :D

Does she have more lines on average than the other heroes? Only her full guard counters seem to have a huge amount of variety. Ubisoft does not disappoint here once again - love it!

oke im greek and i just want to be the first to say this. I have to little corrections. First is the first respawn line. pretty sure it says εμπρός as in like "onward" and second the fifth respawn line says αδελφές as in sisters not brethren

"Send me the bill" is most likely because she's a mercenary. Although weird to say it to the opponent in a 1v1, I guess you could imagine in 2v2/4v4 she's telling an ally that recruited her to send the payment. Idk just a thought

I genuinely think the new heroes talk too much lmao Older heroes usually have like one line for specific moves (Isagiyoku shine, miserum, eg rif ykkur i bita, etc.) but geez these characters just FLOOD the match with their voices and it genuinely gets on my nerves after a while lol

So weird that she’s got so many voicelines but they’re confined to such few circumstances. They could have taken a few of the lines for her FB heavy or her dodge attack and added them to her finisher heavy since that’s her primary mixup. Also woulda been cool if she mixed Greek into some of her normal voicelines and not just her respawn and revive lines.
