When we say mansion, we mean MANSION! Built between 1860 and 1864 this stunning late example of Greek Revival architecture has been lovingly and meticulously restored, and is an outstanding example of the type.
Located in the charming and vivid historic city of Natchez, Mississippi this exquisitely appointed home sits only blocks from the best shopping and dining in the city, yet it's grounds of 1.10 acres make it feel delightfully excluded.
This remarkable home was built by the owner of Natchez first foundry, who employed 30+ workers who created some of the cities most recognizable iron works. As gas lighting came into use the foundry transitioned into pipe works which would supply the new gas service to the homes of the city.
The yard is a glorious courtyard centered by a fountain, and flanked by the original schoolhouse for the property on one side, and the original owners office on the other. Each building has been transformed into an efficiency apartments which can be rented monthly.
Also included in the sale are two separate cottages which are rented monthly.
The home is magnificently decorated in Federal and Georgian furnishing, art and objects d'art which have been meticulously and intentionally curated and are museum worthy. While the price of the furnishings in not included in the sales price they are available separately.

This is my 1st time visiting this channel. I recently bought my 1st house, the deed goes back to 1886, and I’ve been working on fixing all of the shortcuts, finding treasures in the walls and floors, things I’d never find if I hired someone to do the work. I brought them into the historical society today & found out my house was originally built in 1860, Greek revival, with a Queen Anne porch. I’ve been collecting furniture, and most of my stuff is Georgian style, to see someone as excited as you are-as I feel-I just really really hope you have an opportunity to sleep in that princess bed. I’d binge watch you give a tour about the furnishings in this house for hours. I love how excited you are about this home and paused this video many many times. Thank you to the people who did the work to restore this stunning home, & for allowing it to be shared.

This is one of the BEST houses you’ve ever visited. Everything about it says “understated elegance”-the beautiful bannister, the lovely mantelpieces, the plasterwork, the natural light courtesy of the windows and especially the beautiful furniture. Less is definitely more in this case. The Georgian/Federal style never goes out of style and elevates any room. How on earth did we go from this beautiful style of architecture and furnishings to the dark, heavy, overly decorated (an understatement), oppressive Victorian style that was the antithesis of good taste?

I love the old floorplans we see in this style of home. I miss having walls to place furniture and artwork and family photos. The rooms flow easily from one to another but there is a sense of function to each. I am done with my "open concept" floorplan where my living-room-is-my-kitchen-is-my-dining-room. I remember going out to my great-grandfather's farmhouse (rural Louisiana) and the floorplan was exactly as this home and as a child absolutely loving the wide center hallway with the wide wood planks where we would "skate" in our socks (except it wasn't nearly as opulent as this of course!).

I live in a 2001 open floor plan house and love the house, but there are cons to the openness. My dream is to live in a historical home with somewhat more separated rooms. Even the house I grew up in built in 1980 had separate rooms all throughout!

I also love Chippendale furniture along with Adams and Sheridan styles. They have clean, elegant lines and never go out of style. Victorian styles of furniture are so dark, heavy and are decorated to the hilt. They oppress me.

This property is nothing short of spectacular. I wish I had the cash on hand to buy this amazing property and ALL of the exquisite furnishings. I think It could be better served as a bed and breakfast than the extra rooms used as rental space. The back courtyard and garden would be amazing for small informal weddings. The two cottages for rent on the property, still provide income, but look out of place to me.

And, all the extra touches that make this home sing. " A chef's kiss!" is exactly right. If I had 1.5 million, I would purchase this property and keep the first floor exactly as Ms.Perkin's vision. Thank you thank you thank you for all your preservation work. OMG my great aunt had that beautiful pink marble with gold veins running through all throughout her master bath in BelAire, California. She purchased the home from the Astor estate in the 70’s. She kept all the original features, original murals and had her decorator create wonderful comfortable furniture pieces that fit beautifully in with the architecture of the home. As is customary now to So. Cal. developers came in and demolished the entire house, without any regard to historical value. Several of my aunts houses had been featured in Architectural Digest in the 50’s 60’s and 70’s. She passed in the 80’s and the Astor house was sold. It went into disrepair was sold a few more times until it was torn down. I have often wondered what they did with all that pink marble.

First of all, I love your blouse, Laine! We are so fortunate that you are spending enough time in Natchez to uncover these special gems that one might overlook on a quick visit. It's so interesting to learn about the architectural features of homes in different parts of the country. The ceiling medallions are terrific in this one. I'm curious about what appear to be closed transoms above the double doors...do they open too? The decor style is indeed classic and restful. Nothing out of place, nothing too ornate or heavy. Charming! Thank you.
