I see why someone would get into this. Not me personally, but I almost envy someone who could believe this. Out of all the different people who start a cult because they are Jesus, this guy at least acts the most like Jesus. Based on the stories we have (whether fact of fiction), Jesus is supposed to be down to Earth and acted like a regular man. Yeah, his daddy is kind of famous and passed on a lot of cool things for him, but he didn't really use all of that just to impress people. He was more of a just come hang out with me for a while type of guy. This is pretty much how I always thought of Jesus during all of my Christian upbringing. Jesus would be the cool intellectual that hung out at a small local bar and could talk about anything from the latest reality tv show to the estimated number of planets that contain life in the universe. All while drinking whatever is the local cheap beer of choice. (Friendly reminder, just comparing him to the Jesus character, not the rest of his ideas and practices.)

I have an ex who now believes he is second only to Jesus. Much of what these people are saying in regards to memories of torture and remembering all their past lives are the same as my ex.
