wow...amazing work on the spines !! but using scotch tape is NOT recommended !

This is some bad advice. I spend hours sometimes surgically removing tape from records, so I can fix them properly. Never put tape on an album cover!!!!

Using Scotch Tape is my last resort. Some album sleeves can be glued depending on what is inside. Some have an inner fold that can be glued. I use Packing tape on album spines. It sticks better , it's sturdier and lasts longer.

Do not put tape on your sleeve that will wear down and ruin your sleeve and trying to take it off will ruin it even more.. get cardstock and make a proper spine with real adhesive.. you will regret putting tape on your record sleeve

Once you have it clean... let totally dry and spray a very light coat ...you don't want to saturate the cover in any way...of wax furniture polish (Pledge)on a paper towel and give it a quick polish. Makes a BIG difference.

WRONG! You should have used the tape from the INSIDE, doubled over so the tape won't show!

Thumbs down for using tape. Don't follow this, this guy knows nothing, this is wrong. And the spine "repair" is a bad joke, I look first for the release date, maybe an April 1st fools day video.....

To sort album covers that have come undone just re stick with a glue stick never tape that is just a no no i do not want tape on my covers i got a rare album on eBay the bottom had come undone all i did was get a bit of thick card cover it with the glue stick and gently go away the way along the bottom of the cover ( inside ) once done gently hold it firmly until it was re stuck no tape no nasty tape showing and no one will ever know its been re stick the glue stick i use is called prit stick its easy and fast .. for cleaning covers i use baby wipes as they have no additives in them gets all the dirt off not to wet just enough to remove the dirt and to dry or buff up i use a cotton face pad. using tape on vintage albums is just grim no matter if it is photo tape. the spine tip was ok but if my album was that damaged i would have to replace :) all the best though .

Excellent video! Good methods for quick fixes and to make VG and less covers shine again! Although these methods may not suit all, these are solid tips for those looking to spruce up otherwise dead vinyl album covers.

All you need is a simple glue stick I would never use tape it is never even and it yellows with age

A touch of water can be great for getting price tags off. Dampen a cloth, wipe the tag, leave for 30 seconds & Peel/scrat it off. Done it loads of times.

I think you could categorize album covers as ephemera, like old newspapers, vintage cards, letters, any kind of paper item. So I would not use tape on the outside of album covers. Personally I wouldn't use tape, glue or anything on the spine or outside. I think cleaning them is fine but I would leave them as is. The only time I would use tape would be double sided tape to the sleeve if it has come apart, and the tape would be on inside on the brown unprinted side of the sleeve along the flap edges.

I suggest using Seamzeazy to repair those edges instead of the photo tape.

Photoshop can get the job done, just like you can use a screwdriver for a hammer. There are just better tools for the job. But what baffles me the most is why not rotate the document 90 degrees, to much easier read what you write?

Oh heck no on the tape usage, why not use double sided tape on the inside on the jacket at the seams? And for the cleaning the outside of the jackets I go a bit gentler, how about baby wipes and dry it off with the microfiber towel? Just the same thank you for sharing your tips!! And Please stop using the tape on the outside of the jacket, you’re hurting my eyes lol

I never use normal sellotape,I use double sided tape. It does a lot better job.

If only I had a woman with this type of commitment.

hmm, if use diagonal of the paper, it could probably cover whole spine length.

....hey Brian - I'm noticing "textured" paper album covers (Eagles "on the border", one of these nights etc...)....seems like anything "liquid" would immediately be a TERRIBLE IDEA.... trying to use anything to clean them (right?). however, the majority of albums have what appears to be a waxed-like coating on them? Can you speak to this in little more detail? Thanks for the video!

Why can't the new spines fit the entire length of the record? They make longer paper and the short "fake" spines just look amateurish. If you are going to go to the trouble of making them, make them fit.
