Author and renowned trial attorney Vincent Bugliosi rejects any notion that Lee Harvey Oswald was acting as part of a conspiracy to assassinate President John F. Kennedy.
-----
Vincent Bugliosi speaks about "Reclaiming History:
The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy" at The Commonwealth Club in San Francisco, California.
The prosecutor of the infamous Charles Manson murder case turns a critical eye on one of history's most enduring sources of conspiracy theories: the murder of JFK. Bugliosi takes us back to the grassy knoll to uphold the "lone gunman" findings of the Warren Commission, saying the claims against it are based on flawed logic, deception and selective use of evidence. -- The Commonwealth Club
Vincent Bugliosi received his law degree in 1964 from U.C.L.A. law school, where he was president of his graduating class. In his career as a prosecutor for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office, he successfully prosecuted 105 out of 106 felony jury trials, including twenty-one murder convictions without a single loss. His most famous trial was the Charles Manson case, which became the basis of his true crime classic, Helter Skelter, the biggest-selling true crime book in publishing history.
Bugliosi has uncommonly attained success in two separate and distinct fields, as a lawyer and an author. Three of his true crime books, Helter Shelter, And The Sea Will Tell, and Outrage, The Five Reasons Why O.J. Simpson Got Away With Murder, reached number one on the New York Times hardcover bestseller list.

There is plenty of evidence that President Kennedy was killed by a homestate conspiracy in the homestate of the next President, a Vice President that wanted to be President if you read real history books. WC didn't tell you JFK was the 2nd Presidential homestate assassination after McKinley. Of course they wouldn't have known that Presidential candidate Robert Kennedy was the third.

note how many Kennedy supporters continued to vote for Ted K. after CHAPPAQUIDDICK - - - Late on the night of July 18, 1969, a black Oldsmobile driven by U.S. Senator Edward Kennedy plunged off the Dike Bridge on the tiny island of Chappaquiddick, off Martha’s Vineyard, landing upside down in the tidal Poucha Pond. The 37-year-old Kennedy survived the crash, but the young woman riding with him in the car didn’t. Though newspaper headlines at the time identified her simply as a “blonde,” she was 28-year-old Mary Jo Kopechne, a respected political operative who had worked on the presidential campaign of Senator Kennedy’s brother, Robert Kennedy. How long was Mary Jo Kopechne alive after the car flipped? Kopechne likely did not die instantaneously, but her final moments remain a mystery. When John Farrar, a diver for the local fire department, found Kopechne’s body the morning after the crash, its positioning suggested she had remained alive for an unknown period of time after the car went underwater. Her face was pressed into the footwell, and her hands gripped the back of the front seat, as if she had been trying to push her head into a pocket of air.

his work on ruby is pretty good, his work on oswald? he is selective about what he presents and what he omits. if your case is that good you can enter in some of the witnesses who contradict your position and you can include their statements that throw doubt on the case. for example wesley frazier claims the "curtain rods" package was not big enough to contain even a disasambled rifle. he was arrested and "pressured" into signing a confession which he refused to do and claims that if oswald did do it , it had to be a conspiracy as he needed he help to pull it off. again vince simply ignores testimony and eyewitnesses like this when they say things he doesnt like.

His entire ~1600 page tomb is based on the “argument from authority”… it is a truly impressive work, and after reading all the dizzying facts and testimonies, you’re left without a doubt, Oswald killed JFK.. until you begin to ask who the people were that he mentions who conduct these tests (he does in fact name them and their companies).. where do they get their funding? Did Bugliosi receive any funding? If so from whom? His entire life’s work is based off of reframing the proven incorrect conclusions the WC came to.. once your deconstruct his “science” on how there were 3 bullets, they matched Oswald, so on, literally the entire.. THE ENTIRE argument falls apart.. which it does. Bugliosi ignores evidence, period. Don’t make the same intellectually lazy mistake of lumping all “conspiracy theorists” together as crack pots.. because as it stands in 2023, the majority of the US population doesn’t believe LHO was a single shooter alone, and we simply have more evidence than the side you take.. real evidence to be specific. Love you girl sorry if that hurt.

For me, two of the many critical points are: Why was Oswald allowed to flee the TSBD? Why wasn’t there a secret agent getting a drink on the 6th floor when the third shot fired? Bang-bang, and you have pictures of Oswald’s corpse in the sniper’s nest, holding on to the rifle, and no conspiracy fuel. Why on Earth would Oswald have been allowed a press conference, where he could have blabbed about his handlers and paymasters, blowing the whole case wide open? And it is known that Jack Ruby himself was present.

@@stddisclaimer8020 So, Johnson and Hoover are having lunch across the street from Johnson's house, (Arthur Robert Caro, "Master of the Senate") at his neighbor of 19 years and 30 years as "friends." (KZfaq, May 8th, 1964 Ceremony) Johnson is listening to Hoover rant and rave against the Kennedy's as usual and how he wished Johson had become President in 1960 instead of JFK. Johnson then responded with "Well I can if you didn't do such a good job protecting the President, I'd be President." Johnson made FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover Lifetime FBI Director shortly after JFK was killed in his polittical homestate, Texas. This action was legally questionable because Hoover was conducting an FBI investigation with Johnson's Commission called the Warren Commission into JFK's assassination and this action by Johnson could be interpreted as undue influence or conflict of interest, as if a pay off. The fact that it was not reported by the Warren Report that JFK was the 2nd Presidential assassination in a row after President McKinley, to be killed in a Vice President's homestate, his political home turf, shows biase in favor of Johnson. While Johnson was still President and Hoover was still the Director at 73, not having to retire by Johnson's decree, RFK was assassinated in the homestate of the next President, another Vice President, ex-Vice President and presidential rival, Richard Nixon, benifiting Nixon not having to debate another Kennedy on National TV again and benifiting Johnson and Hoover that they would not have to worry about being investigated for involvement in JFK's assassination by President Robert Kennedy. This method of operation or MO was similarly repeated again in the 2000 Florida voting controversy that caused a great amount of suspicion that the controversy was a homestate conspiracy by the opposing party because it happened in the homestate of the brother of the next President, the son of a Vice President that wanted to be President again thru his son, Bush41. To much to be a one time coincidence but a perponderance of evidence of homestate conspiracy. We may never really know who was totally behind this or involved but we will know the Kennedy's were killed in a conspiracy, a homestate conspiracy that could happen again if we let it. January 6th was a warning but Florida is waiting again.

Oswald's rifle was found in the "sniper's nest" in Oswald's place of work. It was an easy shot since the car was moving in a straight line away from the shooter. The Grassy Knoll would have been a lousy place to shoot from, and a shooter on the overpass would have been too conspicuous. And only one person ran from the Texas School Book Depository: Lee Harvey Oswald. He definitely shot dead Officer Tippet for asking him to identify himself. He ran into a theatre (UK sp) and when police apprehended him, he fought them and kept trying to draw his revolver, which is why an officer slugged him. When he came back home he was not arrested or charged rather he was allowed back in. I've read that the state department paid for his move back to the US. This seems very suspicious especially at a time when the Kennedy administration was ramping up clandistine operation while moving away from overt operations in the wake of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Was Oswald working for the government as some claim? Why would he be filmed handing out pro Castro flyers in New Orleans? It's as if someone is trying to make him look anti-American and if he was, why wasn't he arrested and prosecuted? Why would Oswald bring a weapon to his place of employment and then leave it there with his prints on it? The only person who would do such a thing is a person who WANTS to get caught. Why were the Dallas detectives unable to get a fingerprint off the weapon until 3 days after the shooting, after Oswald was dead, and after the feds went to the funeral home to take his prints? The police said they saw Oswald in the break room about 90 seconds after the shooting. He appeared calm and was not breathing heavily. Oswald was also seen a few minutes before the shooting by another employee in the break room at the TSBD. The motorcade, depending on what source you believe, was running between 5 to 15 minutes late. The shooter could not have known in advance about the delay unless there were others involved. The shooter would have to have been in position at least a few minutes before the scheduled arrival of the President until when he actually arrived late. It's all but impossible that Oswald was in the 6th floor window at the time of the shooting. Finally, only Dallas county had the authority to conduct the autopsy and the trial of Oswald. Since neither was done in accordance with the law, one can at this point only conclude that Oswald is not guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. The so called "evidence" would never stand up in a court of law.

Understanding the medical evidence is the key to the assassination. Four official bodies (Warren Commission, HSCA, Church Committee, Rockefeller Commission) employed panels of expert pathologists to study the autopsy X-rays and photos. (The original photos are crystal-clear compared to the pirated versions found on the internet.) The head wound was examined by seventeen pathologists, the back wound by fifteen. These experts UNANIMOUSLY agreed that JFK was hit by two bullets fired from the rear - one striking him in the upper back, the other in the back of the head - with both bullets exiting toward the front of his body. The documentary "Cold Case JFK" (available on KZfaq and highly recommended!) includes an examination of the X-rays of JFK's skull by a team at the Boston University School of Medicine. Their analysis confirmed that the fracturing pattern in the skull was consistent with a bullet strike to the back of JFK's head.

@TermsofService actually....there is documented evidence that JFK's head was mutilated between the time he arrived at the hospital and his body was taken for autopsy. Scores of witnessed say they heard gun shots from the grassy knoll of but their testimony was never sought by the Warren Commission. Why not? If there is no conspiracy to cover up why not hear ALL the witnessed? Why was the Zapruder film confiscated and doctored before being shown to the public? What are they hiding? Stray bullets that would completely dispell the lone gunman theory? There are still more files to be declassified next year. Many are still reacted so we can't see all the names involved. Why is it a matter of national security at this point, over 60 years after the fact? FBI memo released where J. Edgar Hoover stated that the public MUST believe that Oswald acted alone. That's not suspicious or anything...and we know what an upstanding citizen of the world Hoover was. Evidence was deliberately left out. All the Warren Commission report provided was more questions than answers. When the story doesn't align with the evidence, then something is being covered up. After Hunt's death, Howard St. John Hunt and David Hunt stated that their father had recorded several claims about himself and others being involved in a conspiracy to assassinate President John F. Kennedy.[3][65] Notes and audio recordings were made. In the April 5, 2007, issue of Rolling Stone, St. John Hunt detailed a number of individuals purported to be implicated by his father, including Lyndon B. Johnson, Cord Meyer, David Atlee Phillips, Frank Sturgis, David Morales, Antonio Veciana, William Harvey, and an assassin he termed "French gunman grassy knoll" who many presume was Lucien Sarti.[3][66] The two sons alleged that their father cut the information from his memoirs to avoid possible perjury charges.[65] According to Hunt's widow and other children, the two sons took advantage of Hunt's loss of lucidity by coaching and exploiting him for financial gain and furthermore falsified accounts of Hunt's supposed confession.[65] The Los Angeles Times said they examined the materials offered by the sons to support the story and found them to be "inconclusive".

bartbengal The Warren Commission got it right. The HSCA got it wrong. There was no fourth shot. Of the 178 witnesses in Dealey Plaza 81% heard three shots. The problem with both Committees is they thought the Zapruder Film recorded the assassination from beginning to end. Thanks to Max Holland and Johann Rush we now know the Zapruder film, does not depict an assassination about to commence. It shows one that had already started. Zapruder had started, then stopped filming 7 seconds in. When he restarted filming, the first shot had already been fired by LHO. So Oswald didn’t fire three shots in 6 seconds, he fired three shots in 11 seconds. A) The first shot was obstructed by traffic light pole and glanced off. (105 feet distance to JFK) B) Oak tree obscured and delayed second shot (briefly).This accounts for the overwhelming testimony by witnesses as to the shot pattern: One...pause...Two...Three. Also, it matches the distribution of the three cartridges on the 6th Floor. C) The second shot went through President Kennedy and Governor Connelly. (190 feet distance to JFK) D) The third shot was fatal. (275 feet distance to JFK) You can spend the rest of your life looking for ghosts, bogeyman, and shady characters. I got off that endless merry-go-round years ago. JFK conspiracy “die hards” will forever keep looking at irrelevant, insignificant, and proven falsehoods to keep their delusional conspiracy theories alive. You are cursed to keep looking and wandering the earth trying to find something that isn’t there. I understand the psychology behind your pursuit. But still, it’s sad. I know 100% LHO shot and killed JFK. He acted alone. I know 100% LHO shot and killed J.D. Tippit. He acted alone. I know 100% that Jack Ruby shot and killed LHO. He acted alone. CSI: Dallas 1963. @renduke In a court, it'd be a slam-dunk in terms of linking Oswald to the assassination. I don't think many people are aware just how much evidence links Oswald to the murder. There is NO reasonable doubt as to his guilt, though most CTs aren't reasonable. AS for conspiracy, that's harder to rule out, but as I said above, lacking specific evidence linking him means no determination can be made. There have been many claims, but most are dubious.

It alleges Obama officials pushed the U.S. Treasury to let Iran convert the equivalent of $5.7 billion of funds held in Oman's Bank of Muscat from rials into dollars and subsequently into euros. It's important to note that the Iran nuclear deal also removed some $100 billion in sanctions on Iran. This made Iran once again a big player in the Mideast. It's almost certain that a good piece of that went to the Islamic Revolutionary Guards, which by some accounts control as much as 40% of Iran's economy. It's clear from Obama administration actions, under both his Secretaries of State, Hillary Clinton and John Kerry, that the Obama White House despised Israel and did all they could to undermine its security. How else can you explain the enabling of a terrorist-supporting regime? The Obama administration failed to enforce its own "red line" in Syria on chemical weapons. By doing so, it in effect invited both Russia and Iran into that disintegrating country. Iranian troops today are within striking distance of our one true ally in the region, Israel.

Global Jay is what we in the research community call a "lone nutter". JFK was supposedly hit from behind, but his body went backward, not forward. Ruby just happened to stop by the Dallas police station, just happened to have a gun in his pocket, just happened to get by police security and shot Oswald at the exact moment he was led out into the parking lot. Just "lucky", eh? Oswald was seen in New Orleans with members of Alpha 66, a group of vehement anti-Castro Cubans and connected to the CIA and the Bay of Pigs fiasco. "Coincidence"? The lone nutters are full of it. The Edgewood Arsenal tests prove CE 399 could not have hit both Kennedy ad Connally. Further confirmed by the testimonies of two autopsy technicians, Paul O'Connor and Jim Jenkins who witnessed the probe of Kennedy's back making indentations on the pleura. Many medical witnesses at both Dallas and Bethesda testified to damage in back of the head, absent in the autopsy photos. There's so much wrong with the official verdict, it screams for another investigation.

@TermsofService I've seen Vince many times speak of the points he tries to make in his book...I've seen him debate and he uses nothing but WC evidence to back his conclusions and the WC findings were decided before it began. Use only the evidence that could point to Oswald. Omit the witnesses and evidence that say otherwise. I know what's in his fairytale book...
@tomowens8340
@tomowens8340 5 жыл бұрын
@TermsofService You know, there's a great line in the film JFK where Kevin Costner as Garrison is speaking on the single bullet theory and says something along these lines... 'a physics professor can make the argument that you can tie an elephant's tail to a daisy and keep it from falling off a cliff'...or something similar. That's what Bug is good at...a good example is when he speaks of the change in the route and asks; The route was changed 4 days before the assassination. Could they really have planned all this using Oswald in 4 days?' Gullible folks let that slide right over them without pondering that question. But you and I know they planned it much earlier than that...don't we? Same with the mauser vs the carcano. The entire world was initially told the weapon was a mauser, but lo and behold...the 3 witnesses...well, only 2 actually changed their story even though they were all very familiar with rifles and identifying them. Gee, Walter Cronkite is reporting it so it must be true! Dozens upon dozens of these tidbits. And of-course the one witness that stuck to his guns committed suicide with a 22 rifle shot to his chest in his father's basement, even though he owned pistols...of-course. But he was a no-good cop...right TOS?

@johnduckworth3866

Well I'm not saying it's true but if i were paid to do so my argument would be this. A plot to kill the president would be an operation to be carried out with the utmost discretion, especially if it was an inside job. Where some people involved may not even now they're involved, a compartmentalization of tasks where some won't know what is the ultimate goal. Which as I'm given to understand is how some of the top operations go about where those that participate have only one job and one job only. Anyway, it could have been hidden into the plans for the Dallas motorcade almost invisible the space between vehicles, agents, and the placement of the president himself. The threat level could have been altered to lower defenses, and another shooter hidden somewhere not seen in one of the buildings around Houston and elm maybe using a type of ballistics that's more difficult to ascertain especially for civilian doctors. Sound can echo through a location like that to where an eye witness could be convinced they're mistaken that they heard two gunmen. Well that's my rough draft, again I don't buy into it.

Other's in the building looked like him including Lovegood who actually had more indicating he was involved than Oswald. And they found a gun traceable to Oswald. Which is a bit too obvious to any real detective. It was clearly a setup. Where's the evidence he killed Tippet? None! Zero! Why was he in a theater owned by Howard Hughes a meeting place of spies? Why were micro dots found on Oswald? He was clearly involved in some type of spy agency. The media was telling us Oswald was a lone gun man two hours after the fact. You can't even interview all the witness and collect all the evidence in two hours! So there is no real evidence Oswald killed Kennedy. HOW IN HELL! can you prove he was a lone gunman???

I stated exactly what you did, that while most American communists kept a low profile, Oswald flaunted his communism, telling everyone he was a communist - even in the marine corps. And he practically begged his brother to tell the newspapers that he was a commie. Meanwhile, the KGB discovered that he had zero interest in communism - never read on the subject or went to the meetings.

If you have read the entire book - which I have - you can't conclude anything other than Oswald did it. Here are a few quick retorts. "Back and to the left?" A 200-gram bullet would move a man of c.160 pounds a grand total of 1 or 2 inches. This is physics. "Moved route." Main Street was the logical parade route. To get onto the highway to get to the Trade Mart, you HAD to make the jog by the building. There was no turn from Main Street. And the route wasn't "changed."

And as I said before, his wife Nellie was sitting right next to him, in the best possible position for a witness to be. And she lived until 2006. Why didn't she get rubbed out soon after the assassination? Maybe you think she would lie about what she saw. If so, then why? I'm just sayin' is all. Follow the logic.

Then how come Ruby didn't shoot Oswald the first time he had a chance to? You know, the night of the assassination? How could Ruby know that Oswald wouldn't be taken away and locked up in Alcatraz for his own protection? Answer: He would have silenced Oswald immediately, the first time he had a chance. He wouldn't have waited two days, wired $25 to a stripper at the Western Union office, then strolled into the basement less than thirty seconds before Oswald appeared. Logic always wins.

Zapruder’s film did capture the assassination, just not all of it. He missed Oswald’s first shot. And Oswald missed his first shot too. This means Oswald didn’t fire three shots in 6 seconds. He fired three shots in 11 seconds. The first shot glanced off a traffic light pole. The second shot went through President Kennedy and Governor Connelly. The third shot was fatal. The Zapruder film, we now know, does not depict an assassination about to commence. It shows one that had already started. One man. One rifle. Three shots. Eleven seconds. Dallas, TX November 22, 1963.

Motive, though not a required factor, is ABSOLUTELY an element in many murder trials. Quoting from a recent Texas case: "Although proof of motive is not a required element in criminal cases, 'evidence of motive is one kind of evidence [that aids in] establishing proof of an alleged offense.' See Crane v. State, 786 S.W.2d 338, 349-50 (Tex. Crim. App. 1990)." "Cui bono?" Who benefits? Many who benefited had means to murder, frame Oswald, and cover up--LBJ, Hoover, CIA, oil millionaires.

I am not agreeing with Mr. Bugliosi blindly. In fact, reading his book helped to change my mind on the matter. I am very aware of the various nuances of the Kennedy assassination, and have read extensively, over the years, much of the published literature provided by various CT proponents and detractors alike. I think people like Fetzer and Groden [among others] are absolutely unreliable and cherry pick or "Spin" the information to reflect their views.

Dulles was a prominent American. It didn't matter who the commissioners were; it was the staff that did all the work. Dulles was actually absent almost half the time from the WC. The opposite of a coverup, don't you think? No documents were shredded. That's just a factoid. Federal law requires documents like income tax records, etc. be classified for 75 years. LBJ actually waived that requirement. To be continued...

Wouldn't it be easier to sell a 200-page book than a 1600-page book? Of course. So maybe, JUST MAYBE, Bugliosi did such an enormous amount of research and writing to make sure the book covered all the bases. And the book is quite masterful, though I doubt any of you read it.

But there are numerous factors here for the Soviets - Oswald knew nothing of import in Russia, neither did Marina. Re Parenti: There are so many issues he raises unanswered by the WC which have since been answered. For example, how did Oswald get from London to Heathrow? While the WC said the direct flight was not feasible (as he checked in by 11:59 PM in Hotel Torni, Helsinki) two indirect flights were - via Copenhagen in at 17:05, via Stockholm in at 17:35. Which is likely what Oswald did. Some claim a military escort for that leg. The better question to ask is: What the hell for? What was the rush?
