Hello, I currently own an 04 Expedition 5.4l..I don't have the words to Express my gratitude and how grateful I am for the hard work and the amount of knowledge that you pass down to people like me that enjoy working on their personal vehicles... I been working on making very important maintenance repairs and preventative work on my Expedition for about a month now getting it ready for a 5,000 mile trip... and you have been all alone with me teaching me how to do work in my Expedition... I don't know of anyone has told you this, but I felt compelled to write to you and tell you this...I been a subscriber for a while now.. and will remain for as long as your channel exists....THANK YOU A MILLION... AND GOD BLESS.👍

Thanks for the video. I had bought a serpentine belt, thermostat, and thermostat sealing o-ring for my 2003 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer with the 5.4 litre 2 valve engine. I followed your other video to change the thermostat and it made it very easy. Then I followed this video for the serpentine belt and inspection of the tensioner bearings and the idler pulleys bearings, water pump, alternator, and power steering pump. The belt installation was a little more difficult to do because the fan shroud sticks out much further than other models making it difficult to get my hands in around all of the hoses and other items. I persevered with my iPad sitting there playing your video for reference and accomplished the job. After filling the cooling system with Ford antifreeze and distilled water, running the engine, topping it up with more Ford antifreeze I was done. I went for a test drive and found that the engine came to temperature properly, the squealing noise is gone and the engine ran smoother than it has in the past 3 years. Thanks again for the great instructional videos.

Thanks great straightforward video at a good angle and instructions. There was another on YT I thought was good but yours is the best and good tips what to listen for and feel, Well Took about 10 minutes to do, pulleys checked out and tensioner was a bear to pull back with 15" breaker bar and pulley quiet so it's working great. Sadly I already had a Dayco belt, will be interesting as I had a Gates on a Nissan Maxima that dry rotted after 3 years.

I Just wanted to take this time to thank you for all the info you give us and help us keep our cars "healthier", doing it right, and keeping the cost down. I'm at 62,000 miles on my 2012 Escape 3.0L. I like preventative maintenance and wanted to change out the serpentine belt on it. I realize that definitely one cannot change it by opening the hood, and doing it from the top as in this video. Do you think you can post a video of a belt change on an Escape?

Thank you for posting the video. I know it's a lot of work to make any video. IMHO I really couldn't tell from the video how you managed to wrap the belt around the tensioner it looked like the grooves were facing down, but they weren't they were facing upward. To eliminate the confusion you would grab the bottom portion of the belt once it is wrapped around the air condition pulley not the top part then wrap that around the crankshaft pulley. I hope this helps some one else out. Many thanks again for posting it.

Thanks for this video. I especially liked the tip on squeezing between the tensioner to get to the A/C pump. I have a 2000 e250. The last idler pulley at 11:59 is not on my engine(5.4L) it even shows your idler on my hood schematic, but I apparently don't need it. There's a spot there for one, but it's dry corroded and looks like there's never been anything in there. The routing of the belt is the same really, just minus the second idler. I had to pull the belt up over the top of the alternator pulley instead of what you did. which wasn't too difficult. I'm going to replace the tensioner. I did a goofy hack to bypass the A/c pump, which sort of worked for a good while...Long story. I take the left idler pulley off and replaced it with a slotted pulley, then re-routed with a different sized belt. I think it ruined my belt tensioner. The pulley was gouging a round trench on the front of the block.... My belt size is AC Delco 8K991. Curious if it's a different size than yours.

Great video. I have a 2003 Ford Expedition 146000 miles and I believe the serpentine belt is still the original. I recently had noise in my engine which came from a bad tension pulley and the pulley directly above it both was changed but the belt was not. now only the serpentine belt is making noise all my pulleys are looking properly aligned. the noise is on a cold start up and last for about 5 minutes or a short drive will stop the noise through the entirety of the ride. any suggestions?

So i take the belt off and start taking off the tensioner, and flat pulley with ease. When i went to take off the grooved pulley on the bottom right side of my vehicle, the damn pulley bolt hole broke and half of it came out with the screw. I called around and everyone's telling me these i have to replace the entire cover for that simple part. Please tell me that that isn't true. It seems like it can be replaced. If it's possible to replace it, what should I do, or where are you located and I'll bring it to you. I have a 2003 Ford Expedition 5.4L. Any help is appreciated.

Could you share your thoughts on spinning decoupled alternator pulleys. What's good and what to look out for if it makes some noise. At 200K, I replaced my alternator with a aftermarket unit because a noisy decoupler was still spinning after engine shut down. Now I am thinking I should have replaced the decoupler and left OE alternator on until it fails. (02 G Caravan, 3.3)
