Thanks a million!!! Spent about an hour looking at other videos before I saw yours. Went outside and...BOOM...instantly found it. Rough idle in my 2000 Expedition with 4.6L engine. Replaced and running smooth as new again. Thanks again for this simple, quick and easy fix. Part number for my whole PCV valve hose assembly with new valve, insulation and big rubber boot for manifold end was : XL3Z-6C324-HA. NOTE: the location on the 4.6L is nearly identical to that of 5.4L

I cleaned the throttle body inside and out. didnt fix my rough idle. I replaced the two electric parts on the throttle body assembly still rough idle. After watching about 50 videos a came across yours. WOW I looked, felt and there it was the fitting was just like the one in your hand broke into. Replaced it with new and runs perfect brakes are working great now since i have a vacumm on the system runs perfect. Thanks this was the best video of all. No body else mentioned this hose ever.
@smgri5 жыл бұрын
can i ask you...my brakes are really spongy...I replaced the idle air control valve because my rpms were like 2000 at idle ...didnt help a lot but my brakes were still spongy . weird thing was when i pumped the brakes the rpms would go up at idle...hence I was thinking it was a vacuum issue . What other issues were you dealing with if you do not mind me asking .

Is this on a Lincoln Navagator? if so did you check that vac line at the back of the motor?

THE video for 1997-2003 5.4 + 4.6 owners... This is the first thing to check + replace. What is ironic, downright evil is the symptoms mimic a bad ISC, and like me, I changed the ISC not realizing I was literally on top of the problem!!! THanx man, straightforward and helpful video.

My symptom on my truck, which was a 5.4 , was that I would cranck it, it would start and immediately die out. It would only stay running if I step on the gas, and it was horrible. My problem was that I was replacing the pcv valve grommet and when I pulled out the pcv valve I accidentally pulled that rubber boot off on the other end of the plastic pipe. It would give me an O2 sensor code or an EGR valve problem.

Any chance this (vacuum leak) could be affecting shifting into 4WD (1999 F150 5.4, AT, dash selector switch for 4WD) which is controlled by solenoids/vacuum lines? My 4WD goes in and out of operation frequently, but has gone out and stayed out for over a week now. One previous fix was replacing a crumbled rubber hose connecting vacuum lines near the solenoids on the firewall. Solenoids already replaced. 4WD light not coming on (dash), and I hear a clicking noise behind the selector switch when I move it to 4WD high. But no shift.

I found out my spark plug shot outta the motor. I hear its rare on 4.6l motors. All an all it was $400 fix after labor replacong coil and new spark plug.
@jacklassley8002 Жыл бұрын
It’s not that rare when backyard mechanics change the plugs and over torque them. There’s only about 3 threads on the motor for the plug to turn into, and over tightening the plug weakens these and the pressure pops the plug out.

Nope, i have a scan tool. checked my coils, looked at the IAC however usually that caused stalls. truck starts easily, stays running. feels like the timing is off, which i believe is electronically controlled and cant be adjusted. or its misfiring. it might be a fouled plug, just hate removing coil packs especially on the driver side. Ok so I have 5.4 it’s leaking in that spot I believe. Only problem is I have a lightning. So that line comes up from behind the motor like u said and t’s off to the supercharger and the pcv valve. I can definitely here the hiss of the leak when I move that hose. What does it connect to? Another hose or some other component. It’s tough to tell cuz it’s so far down there and it’s wrapped in heat shield foam? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Goes right into the base of the throttle body. Very tight squeeze. Mostly touchy feely on my van. Cussed like a drunk sailor that day. 😊
