Nice video. My 1.0L has us stumped. We replaced the timing belt and can rotate the crank shaft by hand. It does not hit the valves or make a hard stop and will spin manually. When we attempt to start the motor, it tries to start but stops after couple cycles. There are also no markings on the pulley or belt which makes it even more challenging. Hoping you may have a tip or insight. Thank you in advance!

Thanks for your comment. I dare say you need to look at the crank pulley closer. Lock the crank (bolt in back of block) and check pin locates in the pulley into the cam casing. I have had this before and is totally a light bulb 💡 moment. This is shown in the video- rewatch. Good luck and let me know how you get on!

Great video! Is there anything difficult about changing the oil pump belt? You mentioned using the Laser tools kit, but not sure how? I have ordered some of the gasket sealant, to the right Ford spec., but really difficult to find! What did you use? Any issues with HP fuel rail? Haynes manual says to remove the injectors, but you didn't so presumably not necessary? Sorry for all the questions 😁
@How2FixIt1
@How2FixIt1 5 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment. The oil pump belt is really easy to change once the timing belt is off. I use flange sealant from euro car parts. Use it for all sorts. It’s great stuff. The fuel rail will be a little tight but with some steady pressure it will pop out. It’s no bother I’m here to help. Just ask away if you have any further questions.
@andyg5059
@andyg5059 5 ай бұрын
@@How2FixIt1 thanks for that. I need to check again but i thought the Haynes manual said you needed to take out the fuel injectors and then replace the seals with a special tool, but I think you did just pull the fuel rail off the top of the injectors and then the cam cover comes off. Thanks again for your help.

Just had mine done, £1200 UK dealership. I could not find an independent who would do it. Expensive but no-one in their right mind would buy one without it being done, and would only buy at a substantial discount. The consequences of a failure are probably a write off. Only 45000 miles, but 10 years old. Mine runs much better than the 2023 courtesy 1 litre fiesta that they loaned me.

Can I ask how you tightened the crankshaft pulley bolt as all the information I’ve found keeps saying 60nm then 5 x 90 degrees

It does,recommended to use a torque multiplier that I didn’t have, so used a big bar and gave it some! Obviously safest to use specs but this worked for me. In my opinion you will know when its proper tight and going no where. Good luck!

@magslide38 sure. Glad you like it. To support the engine with the sump off I used a axle stand on the base of the bell housing on the gearbox. It supported it really well and would recommend this method.

My wife has an 1.0 Ecoboost '67' Fiesta but has only done 15,000 miles. Can you spot the belt starting to shred on an oil change before disaster happens? It'll be 7 years old later this year. When do you think it would be wise to change the belt. Its has a full service history.
@How2FixIt1
@How2FixIt1 4 ай бұрын
You may be able if you sieve out the old engine oil. Maybe apply a few spot samples on some paper and see if you can spot any belt fibres.

@How2FixIt1

@@vaclosimku602 I would recommend it. You could assess the condition when you remove it. But if it’s off and it leaks,you only have to do it again.

Yes replace the rectangle water pump seal on back of the timing case to block for water pump. Also there is an O-ring on a plastic housing that goes in back of the water pump I’d replace that also, it would be a right pain to change if that starts leaking also Change both

Problem I have is this. Engine is on a stand in my workshop. I had it sent away to be rebuilt as the belts snapped and crankshaft destroyed. So i put the head back on and the timing pin in the side. Turned crank around till it touched. Then locked camshafts with two things which bolt down on them, and I put in the oil pump and then the sump with sealant. After all this I did the front cover and found that Haynes Workshop-data was saying to use special tools which fit in the ends of the camshafts. Multiple little bolts. One fit in and the bolts going through the disc part, three to be precise went through into engine to hold it there. On the right side the bolt holes were not aligned. Cant fit them. Thats my issue
@How2FixIt1
@How2FixIt1 3 ай бұрын
It sounds to me like the pulley on the camshaft needs realignment. I’m not sure but or the pulleys free floating or do they have a fixed KEYWAY. If it’s free floating one, loosen the pulley and turn it to the correct position, then retighten it. Do this with cams locked. Hope this makes sense. Good luck.
