Ford F150 MASS Air Flow sensor Cleaning
improve rough idle or lean or Rich conditions on your car.
Symptoms:
when your Mass air flow sensor is dirty the oil consumption increases. It effect the calculation of air flow going to the computer. you wont feel a big difference in vehicle performance but the fuel consumption will increase. Like wise if your air flow snesor is bad then your car may vibrate and you may get a check engine light on. when its dirty it works so you dont get the check engine light as the computer is getting some data but that data is garbage due to the dirt on the Mass airflow sensor.
I highly recommend cleaning throttle body also. see video below

Thanks for posting. As you state in your comments below, it wasn't necessary in my case (2014 F-150 5.0) to remove anything other than the actual Mass Airflow Sensor. Your commentary and the way you show removing the MAS is spot on. Thanks for posting.

Fingers crossed, at least for present time it worked!! I have bought a new starter a new fuel pump system and spark plugs to try to fix this issue with no luck. Hopefully this did it. Thank you for the video!!

@@HowToDoitright There were times that the vehicle would keep cranking for a few seconds before starting. This was going on for months. It wouldn’t happen every time though. Seemed to be worse in the morning and in rainy weather. After cleaning the mass flow sensor no more rough starts. I’ve been starting it right up morning and night.

My mass air flow sensor was silver side down. You put yours in silver side up. 2014 F-150 5.0

You must out how it came out. There is only one way it will fit.

So you just clean that larger opening from what I saw. Good tip. Also let it sit out for 30 minutes before reinstalling from another video I saw.

Video is pretty good but there’s no need to use a screwdriver to pry the connector free. There’s a clip below the connector just push on it and the connector will slide out… if not you will break the connector clip

I have a 2014 f150 5.0, i was told to check air filter because i am idling a little bit rough at stops. What exactly does mass air flow sensor do? Does it send signals to the timing of the firing?

Helps adjust gas to air ratio by determining how much air is entering.

Actually you are right. I did show it opposite in the video by mistake and didn’t realize until now but when I put it back it was installed correctly.

In that same video location on my 2012 F150 3.5L V6, I have a different part - the Turbocharger Boost Sensor. Not sure where I would locate the Mass Air Flow Sensor. Any help?

I’m not sure in V6 but it should definitely be somewhere by the air filter intake.

No one ever talks of how the vehicle is acting and why you need to clean their flow sensor sounds like you guys are selling product. Tell the public what the truck was doing before. You even start taking out the sensor what was the symptoms?

Because you can’t really capture a feel of a vehicle running and a v8 engine sound difference in before and after video. You have to see and hear it in person.

No but I did cuz I was doing a lot more extra stuff. It depends on what you plan to do. I cleaned my throttle body too. Check out the other video on F150 play list.

@@HowToDoitright oh okay because one guy was claiming to get almost 10 more miles per gallon with his gas mileage... My truck isn't technically having any problem but I figured it wouldn't hurt to clean it see what happens

10miles? Wow. He must drive in mud all day long. It’s not needed in normal driving but cleaning does help but with right cleaner as I showed. Make sure don’t touch it.
