Great video. About to do the same work to my own 2018 and it this was a perfect video to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Thank you

Thanks for your time and effort and expertise! What a great idea to use an old idler pulley and socket combo as the seal drive tool! That's always been the tough part for me on any seal, especially pinion and front differential seals -- finding (or making) an effective tool to evenly drive the seal in. There are specialty tools, yes, but too expensive for me as simply a home mechanic. And tapping them in with just a hammer and punch always seems to result in a cock-eyed install. (I just purchased a 2018 F150 2.7, and I've got some maintenance and minor repairs to catch up on.) Subscribed!

RTV should go on the splines. Just a little on the end before putting the flange on. Not all will leak there but as the miles add up its a leaking point. Mine was a royal pain to remove

Endplay? You mean backlash? Endplay should be zero as there's supposed to be preload?

you did not mark the nut and flange and drive shaft orientation and count the threads before starting,also you should remove the wheels and use an inch pound torque wrench to check the load before disassembly for putting it back to spec. on the newer models the nut is to be thrown out and a new one used, they are color coded on the back side.

Nice video. Mine is wet but not seriously leaking right now. Right after I had Ford flush the diff and transmission the pinion seals started leaking..... Wonder if they just over filled because they don't drip they're just wet. Very annoying that there's no dipstick for the transmission

ohh theres a dip stick you just access it under the truck lol

My 21 fi50 has the same leak,60000 miles

Seems common on these for some reason.

has it helped, and how much miles did you drive after it?
@ElectronicMechanic508 ай бұрын
It stopped leaking from the replacement of the seal and fluid changing is just part of proper maintainence
