"Just gently grab it... with the vice-grips" first time I've heard that one. Lol.

FYI the top of the bolt has a 5mm allen wrench slot to hold the rod in place. Use a pass thru socket wrench, put the allen in and hold with pliers. Easier than trying to clamp the rod. Thanks for the video!

Do the vise grip marks on the top of the shaft help keep the bellow up?

Friend, thanks for the upload. I did my rear shocks after watching this. Do you need an alignment after replacing the fronts? Just ordered the fronts tonight. Also, what torque settings did you use? I did 111 lbs ft bottom and 60 lbs ft top (I found conflicting info). Thanks

Glad this helped you work on your truck. I did not do an alignment after the front shocks replacement. If it has been a while since you have had a front end alignment then i it would be good to do so. Helps keep the tires last longer. I followed the Bilstein installation instructions regarding the torque specs. THanks for watching and check out my other KZfaq videos.

Great video, getting ready to upgrade my ‘17 platinum shocks. Can you give me an idea of how you lie the ride as compared to stock?
@pineridgegarage Жыл бұрын
The ride is a great improvement over the stock shocks. Now that I also have the AIR-LIFT air bags on the truck it is even better. TOwing or empty you will see an improvement. Check out the video I have installing the Air Lift air bags.. Thanks for watching!

Do you have a stock height, I was looking at the 5100 shocks but the fronts only have a 2inch plus on the lift heights?
@pineridgegarage Жыл бұрын
I put a 2" lift on my truck.

There was a hex to hold the rod on mine no vise grip needed
@pineridgegarage Жыл бұрын
That is good that it had the hex. Maybe they have change that. Thanks for watching and check out my other KZfaq videos.

Uh, have you eve installed shocks before? Never use an impact, always tighten to suggested torque specs with the full weight of the suspension on the ground and Bilstein suggests the rear shocks to have the boot down when there is clearance, which on Ford trucks is always boot down. Good grief.
@joedurso51925 ай бұрын
My 4600 rears didn’t come with instructions but I installed boots up since the logo and part number etc was on the non boot side and “readable” when installed that way….now I’m confused

I used the 6mm , with a wrench i tightened the nut but stem barely cleared top of the nut...hard to tighten with a wrench. Do i need to crush the rubber bushings? If so im going to have to use vise grip method and a ratchet on the nut. I just cant get enough torque with a wrench
