My son just bought a 79 Bronco 6.6L 4x4, i suggested to him that he put on a new timing chain as well

Thanks Bernie, I guess f it needs it, then not a bad idea. Sometimes you reach a point in the replacement of parts that it makes other repairs easier to get to.

It is still a job, take your time and watch for the bolts that go into the water jacket that need silicone, or Permatex sealer on the threads... video marker 13:10 is one.

Look at that... You still got good dexterity brother and gett'n that camera in there is totally awesome... Lol dirt/grease marks the spot... Water pumps are usually a bit*h on most vehicles you made it look easy and that's what makes a good video great.!... Thanks for not complaining about every speed bump and aches and pains along the way. Your attitude/mood is awesome as you narrate along the way.!!... Thanks Steve.!!... You Rock.!!

I have changed many water pumps on vehicles over the years, usually on old ones like this. I found that you should use a tap and die on all the bolts and chase the threads in the vehicle. Spray a cleaner in the holes. Get all the junk out of the holes. If i dont this, i never get the gasket to seal the first time.

I do that when it is needed. Usually after someone has changed a water pump previously and put too much gasket sealer on the threads that go into the water jacket.

it looks like you have done this sort of thing before,, I should wear gloves, my hands might not get cut up so much,but I can't seem to do much with gloves.

I like orange hand cleaner with pumice. I use gloves sometimes, but mainly to keep my hands warm.

Would this cordless ratchet be a bad choice for doing little 8mm transmission pan bolts torqued to 8 ft lbs?

I would use a socket wrench to loosen and tighten and a torque wrench to get down to torque.. I believe they do make a cordless 1/4 in. ratchet wrench that could replace the regular ratchet wrench for loosening and tightening. A 3/8 in. cordless ratchet wrench will also work just so long as you use a torque wrench for tightening. If using a 3/8 wrench I would use a 3/8 to 1/4 in. socket adapter for those small 8 mm bolts. This 3/8 cordless ratchet wrench is very powerful and will over torque those small bolts very quickly.
