Can we save the 1.0 ecoboost engine having suffered low oil pressure due to the wetbelt (cam belt) failing and blocking the oil pump. Or is it a new engine required?

I owned a 2013 Focus Ecoboost for 4 years, and luckily it gave me no problems. I moved it on at 50k miles though, having heard about the issues. I now have a Skoda Kamiq with the 1.0 litre 110bhp 3 cylinder VW engine. I'd say this engine is a little smoother and quieter than the Ford Ecoboost. It's also better on fuel, and doesn't require 14 hours to change the timing belt.....

Great video, another thing to watch on the ford fiesta including the focus the cooling expansion filler tank can develop small hairline cracks caused by the tank becoming brital with heat and age. The first you know about this is when you notice leaking coolent by the pulleys giving the impression of leaking water pump . The cracks usually develop underneath the expansion tank were you carnt see it .

I was thinking of buying a 1.5 Ecoboost Fiesta ST. The earlier versions (up to around March 2019) had a chain for the oil pump drive, but the later ones used a belt like this. I think I will give them a miss.

@@user-rj4yk3ib8x I see what you are saying but the oil is in the sump and the pump is blocked with the drive belt shredding rubber apart and hence is unable to pump oil around the engine and crank. Thats why the crank is blue with heat and then the bearing fails. The cranks goes before anything else as it has the most stress on it and without the cushion of oil it soon gets hot and fails. Quite a terrible design flat of having a rubber and fibre belt going though all the oil heat cycles and maybe precuoust owners not changing oil often enough.

Changing time for the camchain is either 240.000 km or 10 years (I found that out in the net) so in 5 years chain and belt are being replaced, and the oil pump strainer will be cleaned. The wet timing belt is a crazy idea. Should be banned by law! I would prefer a dry belt over a timing chain. It will last a very long time. If you dare ? I dare - and untill now the timing belt is 15 Years old, but with a low milage. Could last 10 more years - I hope. In my previous car i changed the dry timingbelt after 10 years. It looked like a completely now one - out of the box. My next car will be without Turbocharger. With indirect Port Injection. With a Dry Timing belt. If such long lasting cars are still made. You need a torque multiplier to retorque the crank bolt which I don't have.
