In this video we get the sump back on the Fiesta and finally get it running again. Hopefully it's not too long now until the car is moved on and we get on with another project. Follow us on Instagram: / thecarlovers.channel

Mate, you are a life saver. I've just done this myself after watching your videos. Couldn't have done it without your help. Spoke to 3 garages and noone would touch my fiesta, 1 told me it was unfixable. You're a legend!

That might be the most positive comment I've had on a video. I'm glad these videos helped 👍

Interesting, try cleaning the oil pump screen using a bottle brush from plug hole, perfect for it.

Cheers for the videos mate! They gave me the confidence to check my own fiesta and make sure its kicking along ok. No metal or deposits in the filter so just left it on there. Were your screws all metric? Half of mine were metric and half were imperial. Friggen ford.
@Papa77sGarage2 жыл бұрын
Preventitive maintenance, I like it. Mine were all metric and yours should have been as well. I'm currently working on a 1996 Ford Transit and it's all metric there as well. That is a strange one but as long as it all looks good inside the engine it won't matter what holds it together.

@@Papa77sGarage cheers man. Do you mind if I just ask, was it important what order you throw the bolts back into the sump? I've heard conflicting things about it and how the silicon spreads depending on the order you screw em in.
@Papa77sGarage2 жыл бұрын
@@FireBrigadeAGoGo no worries. It won't matter really, as long as you have a continuous bead of sealant around the sump you'll be fine. You could do the bolts up in opposites. So start at 12 o'clock then do 6 o'clock, then 3 o'clock, 9 o'clock etc.

Hello. Just for curiosity. In theory it takes around 4.1L of oil. As it can be considered a first fill was >4.5 needed? Thanks. You're a life saver. Keep up the good work.
@Papa77sGarage2 жыл бұрын
I dont think I checked the quantity before I filled it. Usually I'll put between 3/3.5ltrs in then check, if it's not on the dipstick add litre by litre until it is. Then add in quantities less than 500ml. I take right to max, maybe just above then run the engine for 10/15 seconds. Switch off and let the level settle. Finally top up with whatever is needed. When it comes to cars with out dipsticks I'll find the service fill quantity and just add that.

Luckily I've sold it now but I hear the timing belts are a real pain. Also the previous owner had to replace the turbo on this one.
