Ecodriver shows you how to easily get far better than the official consumption out of this great car and therefore save money on fuel.
Sorry for the bad sound at the beginning.

I have the 2022 125hp focus wagon mild hybrid and agree the braking of the "generator" is something you have to get used to. You can lift of the gas a little later (which is not fuel efficient) on the other hand you do not have to use the brake pedal much which saves discs and pads and produces less brake dust overal 👍 I also find cilinder deactivation anoying in 6 gear 1600/1700rpm at 75km/h it starts to get more vibration/noice. The car says 6 gear but it runs better in 5 with 1900/2000rpm. From 85km/h in 6 gear is fine and quiet. My previous focus 3 with the same engine did not have this "issue" . I think the fuel saving measures are getting over the top and do not always add driver comfort. Still the mk4 a big step up from the mk3.

Do you have any tips driving a mild hybrid Hyundai i20 with a 6 speed manual? I just got one has a courtesy car and only got 60.8mpg on my drive home. After driving an 2012 Aygo for the past 8 years I've got to say it was a horrible driving experience. It's probably because I'm not used to regen but one stage it turned the engine off where normally I'd be engine braking, it was free rolling so I tapped the brake and the regen came on and stayed on after tapping the brake. It just felt like a very disconnected experience. It didn't help that the lane assist kept panicking and taking over on every corner xD. I can't imagine I'll have the car for that long. But it's going to be an interesting experience. Not sure if it will be able to match the 75mpg I get in my Aygo.

How much difference do you think the automatic version will make regarding fuel consumption? (When mainly driving on 70 and 90 km/h roads) Does it have a coast mode like you said in the video?

I can't comment on the Ford automatic gearbox, as I have not yet driven one. Based on my experience I think if driven correctly the auto-consumption is not really higher than the manual one, on the contrary, I think with most drivers nowadays (with modern auto-gearboxes) consumption is lower compared to manual shifting, as most people rev way too high.

It's the fiesta the best in consumption/driving experience rating? I mean maybe with a Yaris hybrid you could get more efficient but less fun driving?

How do you define "driving experience"? I guess that's something different for every driver. Personally I prefer a good shifting TC-Automatic, but I also like the way Toyota's HSD behaves. If somebody wants a race-car, well - I guess then neither a Fiesta nor a Yaris Hybrid are the right fit ;)

@Ecodriver Sorry for my english, im not native. I guess I meant to say that a good driving experience would be: the car have good ground feeling, stable, that can do corners etc.. Kind of like a bit sporty but without being a race-car ofc (we are talking about cheap cars). Im trying to found the most balanced car in this aspects, thats why I asked about Fiesta/Yaris (I seen in reviews that fiesta it's the most dinamic of the segment, and Yaris most eco). I own an Astra from 2010 (1.6 180hp), but I normally drive alone and this car is pretty big and overweighted for only me. I have no complains when talking about power and comfort but a bit in consumption. I guess that the best thing to do is try those cars and remove the doubts that I have comparing it to mine lol. Thanks for your time, nice complete videos.

When it comes to "feeling" on the road I can only suggest to take a test-ride. For that aspect I am probably the wrong person as I consider most smaller cars too hard on the suspension. If you ask me I personally would go with the Yaris Cross Hybrid, this car behaves the way I like, a bit smoothier, but I'm not representative. Both Yaris and Fiesta are too hard for me.

Hmm if I keep around 2000 rpm in flat region, fuel consumption is around 3 liters but my average consumption is 6.6l.

When you accelerate it's surely over 25, 30 l/100 kms, you never make up for that.

@11:50 That's a really bad "advice"/observation. Low RPM but foot "on the floor"?! That's the best way to ruin an engine. I've been telling for years now.. to my father and my gf that low RPM does not equal most money saved. Yes in the short run you might get the best fuel consumption figures, but in the long run you will have to rebuild the engine. Let me explain: At low RPMs if you put your foot down, the movement of the arm is not only up and down but side to side as well. It can also be heard with headphones if you have bass-y headphones the sound of steuggling, vibrating engine. This will lead to small gaps forming between the piston and the wall, which will kill your engine. How do I know? My gf - trying to get "better fuel efficency" - and because her father, who taught her to upshift as often as possible (because.. sounds I guess), destroyed a 1.9 tdi vw engine - yes.. the unkillable vw engine.. We had to change the crankshaft, piston, other bits and pieces.. at that price point it would have been wise to buy a new car. My father? 1.5 dci megane 2 engine.. almost destroyed that as well, but sold it before it broke on him. My father has been clean for 7 years, my gf for two.. If I could cure just one more person from this disease I'll be happy (JK) Please please please. If it's a diesel keep it around 2k rpm, 1.8-2.2k ideal for any situation, when accelerating hard, 2.5-3k.. if it's a petrol engine 2.5k-3k rpm for normal operation, and above 3.5k for accelerations. And just to prove my point to my gf.. we drove the same route, 500km.. in a 1.9tdi, she drove by her method-hypermiling - rarely going over 90 km/h, sticking behind cars-not overtaking... no above 2k rpms.. 5.5l/100km. Me.. keeping the car steady abround 2k rpms, overtaking, going over 105km/h where possible, little to no braking - a good driver doesn't really need one - the consumption came out to 5.3l/100km. And the car felt lighter, it felt free, can't really describe it.. before, when she drove it, it felt like it was chocking, sometimes it shook from the engine vibrations.. Now, one might argue that the higher the rpms in a diesel car it only means that more air is being pushed into the engine besides the same amount of fuel as lower rpms, and a petrol engine will push more air and more fuel, thus making it more inefficent - to that I say you are probably right, but yet again.. would you want to change an engine after 100k, or do you want to spend more on gas, and less on service? Also a tip - cruise control kills the whole point of getting better milage, the foot is always better at getting better results.

This is just plain wrong. 1500 rpm is more than enough for any modern engine. The fact your family cannot maintain a car properly does not prove low rpms kill engines.
