My Clio ETech, bought March 2023, first year 63.3mpg mixed driving. March 2024 to July 2024 70mpg including, 4 days in Welsh mountains. You need to be light on the accelerator but not annoyingly slow. When you find the mpg monitor goes below 99.9 back off the accelerator a tiny bit then ease it back up. Use B gear around towns or small roads. No need to brake hard; saves brakes, tyres and roads. Do these and see your mpg go up.

In my opinion, the Kia/Hyundai hybrid system is better in principle, more comfortable and fun to shift gears than the Aisin split, but it's the wrong engine and engine combination. The engine is weak and turbo which produces a lot of consumption and excess heat. I agree with you, a 2-liter naturally aspirated engine + 100 kW motor would be ideal

I do nearly all the tips you mention in my 2018 Camry Hybrid except the accelerating gently. Typically, taking 50 seconds to accelerate slowly to 100 kph will use the same amount of fuel as taking 25 seconds to 100 kph, the fuel flow rate may be double but for half the time. Also, I would rather a direct fuel to wheel energy flow, than fuel/recovered braking energy to battery and then battery back to wheel energy flow with the significant conversion losses. When I see a green light 500 meters away, it's more probable to be red when you get there and if you see a red light 500m away it more probable to be green when you get there. If you see that it's already red for a while or already green for a while then you can adjust your prediction of what it will be when you get to the light. My simple rule is almost never accelerate to a speed such that you will have to then immediately use the brakes to reduce it. It's not so much how quickly you accelerate but getting to the best speed such that you don't have to destroy the valuable excess momentum you just produced. I can't understand how people race up to what is clearly slower moving traffic ahead and turn most of their momentum (i.e. fuel) into waste heat via the brakes. Good use of these techniques also extends your brake hardware life by an order of magnitude. Slow accelerating hybrid drivers onto a motorway or open road with nothing to cause them to brake ahead is the bane of the hybrid driver "profession". Accelerating hybrids slowly in every traffic situation is low down on the list of what will bring improvements in efficiency that you will notice. Even worse some of these slow accelerating hybrid ecowarriors brake at the last minute thinking that the braking doesn't use the fuel when it is burning off the precious excess momentum that they generated unnecessarily.

Mate why someone will buy a xc90 to fly, if you want to fly buy a volvo v60, v70, s80 t6 or something old mk1 s40 v40 T4 , or 850 t5 or t5r, s60,v70 t5 or R, this is a family car, very safe and heavy duty made😊. Swedish tank ❤.

Really thanks Sir. I really wonder that Focus's highway Consumption while driving on 120-130kmh. If it's really like 5.5-6.5liters, then I don't wanna buy Diesel anymore. But still I'm happy with my Corsa 1.5d(102hp), I've never seen more than 6liters on my car :).

@Ecodriver Thanks for the quality content! What is the Volvo XC90 Recharge consumption at highway speeds of 120 or 130km/h with empty battery? I saw that e.g. German ADAC rates highway consumption with empty battery at 11.8l/100km, which is very far away from your 6.6l/100km @100km/h. I am curious if the XC90 can be moved at highway speeds in most European countries at a competitive consumption when driving at constant speed and with empty battery. Also, did you notice any signs of battery degradation over the cars lifetime?

How to Get Better Gas Mileage out of your Toyota and Lexus Hybrid from care care nut ,this Toyota technician pretty much sold me the car he explains how to get the best mileage and how regenerative braking works, while I'm at it really everyone check the 60-100kph and 80-120kph of the rav4 versus whatever you are looking at, throttle response in every day driving of toyota is litterally 2x better than most competitors thus they might have better fuel economy because they are horribly slow...like a 60hp petrol engine bad while the rav4 is close to my 350hp sportscar...

I have one of these and my experience is that I regularly get 49mpg on the motorway without any electric charge. BUT, I found charging the battery with the engine is not good - just ignore it and also driving it in B mode so it harvests energy when braking more aggressively also helps.

Hi thank you for that data! However always got the same perspective although it's said it's wrong on PHEVs. On combustion it's been 26.5kms being the time that fuel consumption took place... Taking that in consideration that would give us the real consumption of the car being quite different from those 3.7l as they are based on the total kms while electric engine doesn't consume fuel. Do you see my point? Danke schön! BTW i am an owner of Kuga PHEV.

I have nothing but huge praise for this format of review where a sensible, smart economical driving technique is applied onto a daily driver, unlike the big reviewers who keep trying to push the cars dynamically and playing around with the engines mashed together with the economy side of the review, then complaining that 'unfortunately, with my heavy right foot for half the video's length, it looks like that's only doing 20% less economy than they suggested'. My take on this is that with the heavier CX-30 chassis and AWD system mass & larger wheel rim / unsprung mass, larger frontal surface area/higher drag than Mazda 3, and the auto transmission & AWD drivetrain losses, plus many saying that officially, this engine doesn't get its full economy until almost 10,000km. This is the absolute worst case scenario on this e-skyactiv X 2.0 186PS configuration (unless they put it on the next CX-5 or Mazda 6 maybe). So with your results, useful info shopping for the best fuel economy variant of this engine -- a manual, 2WD (possibly 16in rim variant) Mazda 3 and looking for a better representation of achievable economy on a normal day when I'm not pushing it (admittedly a fun car to drive for the weekend, shown by sportier reviewers). To anyone else watching for this engine rather than the CX-30, these are the factors I'd use (in km/l, my preferred units for small cars. Relative to the ref. value obtained in this video's test). - 2.3km/l from CX-30 to Mazda 3 of same trim level ( taken from official figures) - 1.6km/l from auto to manual - 0.4km/l from 18" to 16" rims - 1.2km/l from AWD to 2WD - Running in the engine to 10000km for better economy... Not sure how much, will not add this into the calculation. Of course, each additional factor combined would give a slightly different result than if they were separately assessed apples-to-apples. But this means that an upper boundary for the economy of the base model Mazda 3 that I'm looking for might be: 17.6km/l + (the above) = 23.1km/l. This would make it 20% higher than WLTP for the base Mazda 3 (19.2km/l), and actually roughly checks out with how driving economically like this has allowed me to get an average of 13% higher economy than the WLTP cycle result for my existing car (Lexus IS300h).

Also, I apologise for not using L/100km like EU is used to, and want to explain the rationale. I understand it's the most linear measure for fuel cost and thus the most direct way to compare, but I think it's a unit much more suited for heavy vehicles as it is a very insensitive change in number terms once we get to modern car consumption levels, e.g. 3.3 on a hybrid, 5 on a skyactiv-X etc. I think the unit is good for objectively showing how much difference you're actually paying for fuel, but it's really too insensitive to help the layman get a better grasp of how much you can improve your driving to get another few percent from your driving habits while looking at the economy indicator. E.g. 20km/l to 22km/l is a commendable relative increase if you can use the feedback from the km/l gauge to drive better and gives you up to 20 subticks (an indication every 0.1km/l) if the in-car computer has that resolution; in L/100km, this would be from 5 to 4.55 L/100km (less than 0.5 difference, only 4-5 subticks).

Found your channel late but really not ideal driving for any turbo engine. The uphill is quite obvious here where you were demanding power off boost. Also with the turbo diesel, prolonged running below turbo range leads to clogged turbos and costly repairs. I'm quite sure that the hill section would be much better at 2000rpm.

I really like this car bit the fuel consumption scares me. If Helmut can only manage to do 6.4l/100km on his usual route, then you know ordinaly people will probably be averaging over 8.5l/100km.

Hi, liked this and the empty battery range test videos. I liked it so much I bought a 2023 model. However, when I charge it up it displays 21/22 mile of electric range. I have had it for a few weeks and drive it softly, mostly 1-pedal with full regeneration. How did you get double the displayed value, does the aircon really take ½ the battery? I know the traction battery is good, when tested before collecting the car it was 99.7%. So, is it me or do I have a faulty car?

hello, good video. maybe in the description at the bottom you can also show the battery capacity. And displaying the overall consumption in kWh may also. I calculated for this Aircross: 11 to 12 Kwh net battery gives for the tested 60 km range 18.3 kWh to 20 kWh consumption. Which are nice figures. The display in the Aircross does not seem to show this electric consumption?

This car has such a fantastic look and off-road capabilities but at the same time is so poor on performance… Without eco-driving my A6 allroad V6 diesel takes on average 7-7,5 l/100km, accelerates 0-100 below 7 seconds and can do the same job probably even in a more comfortable manner. It’s so pity that Subaru blindly sticks to such a low power, high consumption powertrain and really doesn’t get a lesson from other manufacturers. This car is may be good for America when they just go up to 110 km/h everywhere but in continental Europe specially in Germany is a joke….. I wanted to buy one to tow a large trailer , but then I discovered that probably I would be better off with a large pick-up; more power still taking on average probably same amount of fuel

There is one large variable as this report which is not possible to include: power used by human action on pedal as to acceleration. Far too many drivers seem to love fast acceleration after stopping. Wasteful. Thanks for the data.

If some buy a 400+hp car to drive 30-60kmh. Fk it. I'm staying with allroad b9 with full sized 3.0l v6 mapped to 330hp on dynostand, 143g/km CO2, whereas in real life situation equipped with thule rack on a hitch x2 bikes, L thule box, loaded with additional 120kg + 1 pax, stays below 8L per 100km driving 140-150kmh. Making 6.5L with the same load if you'll find yourself enjoying sceneries at 80-100kmh staying away of motorways. Fits up to 2m parkings with those L box on the top. Delivers stable 5.0sec to 100kmh with no magic. Unloaded. Cheers mates.

I noticed something strange: min. 0:00: mileage: 3230 TM: 0.0 ---------------- min. 3:43: mileage: 3240 (+10 km from departure) TM: 7.3 (+7.3 km) !!! WRONG!!! (this should have read 10) - or, I´m wrong? ---------------- min. 5:27: mileage: 3249 (+19 km from departure, and not 16.3 km) TM: 16.3 (this should have read 19) ---------------- ...and so on till the end where the range should be around 52-53 km. I made a mistake somewhere, or? Strange! Anyway, I was never able to rich a 50 km el. range. But this is because you had an average speed of 36,5 km/h. Nice wideo, though!
