Nope. The XR5 is the ST. Whilst the same basic Engine the RS engine was reworked to make it reliable at 300bhp for the general public to do their usual thing of using the cheapest parts and skipping service intervals and ranting it when cold for 100,000 miles.

In the 80s Ford Fiesta was always beaten by Peugeot 205 or Fiat Uno, Escort by Vauxhall Astra, Peugeot 305 then 309, Citroen BX, VW Golf (when mk2 came out), Sierra by Cavalier mk2 and mk3, Peugeot 405, VW Passat even the Montego was known as being a better drive!! Granada mk3 was a good car though and always did well in road tests, only prestige stuff like the Audi 100/200, BMW 5-series, Merc E class beating it, along with the Vauxhall Senator giving it a real run for its money. And as for the good ole Capri...love em but they were hopelessly outclassed by the mid 80s by newer stuff like Celicas, Supras, Nissan 300ZX, Audi Coupe etc. Does any of this matter....nope!!! I love 80s Fords for their looks, styling, interiors and just memories. I'd love a Sierra 2.0i Ghia and would have one over a Peugeot 405 despite knowing the 405 would piss all over the Sierra in ride, handling and refinement!!
