Here is what I did to remedy my issue. It may not be the exact scenario but is definitely worth a shot and could be a fix for you also! I hope this video helps in any way possible.

Great video. Did it on my sons car. Just the brake cleaner. No WD40. And it’s working good. If need to do it again in the future. I’ll spray a little WD40 in there. 👍

Thanks for this. My sons Focus wasn’t shifting from 1st to 2nd. I pulled both actuators out cleaned them up with brake cleaner, and gave the shift forks a good dose of pb blaster. It still wasn’t quite right, so I watched the other video you mentioned and used a 6mm Allen wrench to release the B side clutch forks. That helped a lot but it still wasn’t quite right. So I pulled the B actuator out again gave it another shot of pb blaster and worked that in with the Allen wrench wiggling the spline then a released it again. That second time did the trick. Thanks for saving me a bunch of money on a transmission repair.

Hi question I have a 2017 focus se with code po287a all gears are like Neutral. I cleaned A&B actuators already. Nothing happened, also says Hill assist not available. Reverse used to work normal but no forward gears work, after I towed the car on a tow dolly front wheels on dolly , i got home went to drive it off the dolly Reverse didn't work anymore. So now all gears are like Neutral, but the sound of the engine does change somewhat.???
@wickedrepairs8527
@wickedrepairs8527 5 ай бұрын
That definitely leads to transmission and not engine, so not sure why the sound of the engine would change. Maybe from not being on a load. When you shift, does it feel like any engagement is happening or is it really loose feeling? I'm wondering if something is broken on your shift linkage. If not, then it may be your shift forks or your transmission control module.

Great video, just wondered if you could help me as I’ve got an 03 plate Ford Fiesta 1.4 semi Auto Jura shift light came on now won’t recognise neutral or any gears been told it’s clutch control sensor/module and possibly TCM won’t start where it doesn’t recognise neutral such low mileage be ashamed to get rid of it. Any advice/help would be gratefully received
@wickedrepairs8527
@wickedrepairs8527 13 күн бұрын
Thank you! That would be definitely where I would start. If the gear position sensor is faulty then that will definitely do it, and be one of the cheaper and easier fixes. The TCM would be much more costly and could definitely be the issue unfortunately. I would also check your ground cables and be sure they are free from corrosion and tight. Check for any loose connections, just to be sure.

The electric motors that turn the center screw, that's within a rubber flex boot, that's attached to the fork, can wear out but the screw has tiny roller bearings that can come loose too and there are 4 other bearings in each fork that can stop working right as well - which are unreachable unless you drill some access holes in the right areas, spray in and hope they clean a bit and lube up a bit, then plug the holes with something after.

Do you spray WD 40 inside the actuator??? Is what your saying to get the dust out ?
@wickedrepairs8527
@wickedrepairs8527 Жыл бұрын
I spray the ports where the actuators go with compressed air to blow any debris out and then with WD 40 to liberty the shift fork shafts. The part of the transmission case that actuators go in to are open, that why you are able to spray it with lube and help free up a sticky shift fork.
@prueensgloria4743
@prueensgloria4743 Жыл бұрын
So did you mechanically turn the shafts to free up the clutch forks? Or did you just spray brake clean and let it sit? Did you inevitably get the shift forks replaced? Currently dealing with the same code. Occasionally I lose my reverse gear. The car refuses to shift into 6th and jutters like hell when getting out of first. Already changed the fluid twice and added lucas stop slip, which alleviated the problem for a measly few days.
@wickedrepairs8527

Thats exactly what mine was doing! I just sprayed and cleaned and lubed the ports. I did replace both actuators. I didn't manually turn the fork shafts. I just installed the actuators and turned the key to the on position then back of a few times and it does the same thing. Did that a few times removing, lubing, then reinstalling the actuators. Has been great for a few months now!

I'm not sure that it would be a TCM failure. We're you having any transmission performance issues prior to the starting issues? I would check your ground wires off the battery. Check to make sure the grounds that go to the chassis are not corroded and that if they are mounted to a painted surface, remove the ground cable and sand or grind down the paint to bare metal and reinstall the cable.
