About to tackle my first ever fuel filter change tomorrow. Bleeding the diesel was where I was a bit iffy. This video was nice and clear, very helpful. Wish me luck 🤞

Done these filters 4 times and previously once were it was awkward to start, always used blank ends before, this last time misplaced them so carried on, would it start nope, seen your bleed part went to car with an electric pump I got from lidl and bubbles galore, stopped and started straight away, great video thank you

Considering there are not really any repair manuals around for the C-Max / Grand C-Max (Haynes´ online-manual is a complete joke), I really appreciate videos like these and I appreciate people like you taking your time to upload this stuff.

I managed to do mine with a hand pump connected to both the lines connected to the filter housing , I was turning over the engine whist other person was pumping and then kept at 2k revs for a couple minutes

Just out of curiosity, if 2 of the leak of pipes from the injectors haven't got a good seal, can it cause problems keeping air out of the system? I've tried bleeding the system from the leak off tab you used, but I can hear air hissing on the leak off pipes.

Hi, great video and very well presented. I have a bit of an issue with air in the clear pipe coming after the fuel filter which causes the car to jump a bit. Is there a pump between the fuel tank and the fuel filter, maybe under the back seat as in some cars? I think that if there is one then there could be a leak somewhere. Any ideas?
@thegasketshead14167 ай бұрын
Hi, there is no in tank pump on these though a small amount of air in that pipe is fine(and normal) as it will get pulled out at the hp pump through its return line. I’m not sure how bad the air/bubbles are but the connectors can get damaged over time and draw air in which can cause rough running/cutting out etc

Awesome video buddy. Is it easy enough to bleed with the hand pump? The bleeding part is keeping me nervous about doing this job on my Galaxy 2.0tdci.
@thegasketshead14162 жыл бұрын
Any kind of bleeding tool is fine. Take your time and wait until you have a solid stream of fuel and fire it over, you will be fine. If it doesn’t fire up first time, go again and keep trying

@@thegasketshead1416 thanks buddy. I’ve ordered a sealey pump and will use that to bleed it.

Hi mate. Just did this tonight after watching the video. With hand pump I recommend bleeding the from the filter outlet spigot then reconnecting that quickly first to ensure all air out of the filter. Then bleed from the return pipe as in the video. I learnt this the hard way this evening on s-max - got it running in the end.

I’m getting a tiny leak of diesel on the left hand input pipe of the filter, do you know if you can replace the gasket in that left hand input where it’s says IN
@thegasketshead1416 Жыл бұрын
Not 100% sure the seal can be replaced(I might be wrong though!). If not there are companies that sell connector repair kits or a new pipe might be in order.

Mine has a different housing around the diesel filter, I think its only there to hold engine cover on but it blocks filter lid from coming straight out, I think I need to remove this bracket first? Cheers
@thegasketshead1416 Жыл бұрын
Some have a metal plate covering it and can be removed easily to access the filter
@markwinbolt7887 Жыл бұрын
@@thegasketshead1416 I did the job today myself, had a minor issue with draining the air from the system, I used 2 pumps but they were not strong enough to pull the air through filter and fuel rail to return pipe. I used a hand pump, then medium size bottle pump, ended up using quite a big pump I had for swimming pool. Got it done in the end, 5 minute job with right kit. Excellent video and helped me alot. Cheers mate, keep up the good work, look forward to more content.

Followed this video to change the filter on my C-Max. Got to the part where I had to bleed the return and could get nothing out of it with a hand pump, used the old fashioned method and got it trickling and then went to start the engine. It started up then stalled and now struggles to turn over and eventually just clicks. Do I also have a battery issue?
@thegasketshead1416 Жыл бұрын
If you’ve been trying to crank it for a while you can drain the battery(especially if it’s an older one). Get the battery on charge and try to bleed again.

So my filter reservoir is empty and I have a hand primer, I was trying to get it to suck diesel from the tank into the reservoir to get it full again but it didn't seam to be getting anywhere, I don't have a socket big enough to crack it open would my approach work?
@thegasketshead1416 Жыл бұрын
If you can, fill it with fuel using a large syringe or baster through one of the outlets on the housing then try to start/re bleed

I've got the version held in with 4 Torx screws and I just can't budge it, even after making a custom pry tool for the tab at the back. Is there a trick to it?

Out if interest why don't you remove the fuel filter bowl?? The filter would stay cleaner longer if you cleaned out the bowl too 😃
@thegasketshead14162 жыл бұрын
You can if you really want to but I have changed hundreds of these and tried that, doesn’t really make any difference to be honest. If it was quite bad then I would but in this case it isn’t really needed.

Just done this and now my fuel economy has dropped drastically from 38mpg to 28mpg! Any reason for that? I’m 🤔
@thegasketshead14162 жыл бұрын
It’s because of the use of fuel from starting after bleeding. Clear the trip on the dash and will be back to normal(if not slightly better) after a few consistent drives
@gullhussain12 жыл бұрын
@@thegasketshead1416 I have already cleared the trip and done a few local trips and the figure is 28mpg! I am wondering if I have bled it correctly or if there may still be air in the lines perhaps?

Question : is it enough sealing between filter insert and cover ( small plastic pipe ) ? I mean there are no any sealing rings between. Little strange design
@thegasketshead14163 ай бұрын
There is an internal o’ring or compression fitting g depending on the pipe but should seal without issue.
