In this service video I perform a automatic transmission drain and fill service on my 2015 Ford Fusion Titanium with the 2.0 ecoboost engine. These cars are equipped with the 6 speed, transverse mounted automatic transmission no matter if they are all wheel drive or not. This service procedure also applies to the 2013-2019 Ford Escapes. The transmission model designation is 6F35.They hold 9 plus qts of fluid, a drain and fill will only remove about half of this fluid at a time. These transmissions are recommended to have the fluid serviced every 30-50 thousand miles. Failure to due so will cause excessive build up of debris within the transmission filter which is NOT serviceable unless you removed the transmission and split the case. I use Amsoil products exclusively because I have yet to find a product that matches the performance, protection, quality or cost effectiveness.

@@THEDriverMod_ Hey, I didn’t forget to use your link for Amsoil trans fluid! I’ll be changing it as soon as spring gets here. Woke up this morning CEL light was on, ran codes. Got the typical p0456 evap very small leak. From my understanding vacuum is leaking from capless fuel tank. I’ve done cleaned it and jostled it with a little wd40. That has keep the code off for the most part. This morning same code came on, along with P1450 $07E8 and P1450 $07E8pd. I’ve never seen these two other codes pop up before, I’ve done some research already. Could be charcoal can, evap purge valve, or kink lines? Have you ever seen these codes? Any advice🙏🏼

@@THEDriverMod_ Castrol Mercon LV. About 4.5 quarts. I’ve done it 3 times before but could never find the fluid leveling hole; I had just refilled the approx same amount as had drained. This time I was assured it was at the full level. I’m always amazed how dark the used fluid is in this transmission. My other cars (Toyota’s, Chevys, Honda’s) never have trans fluid this dark. I think I’ve done enough ~5 qt drain/refills over the time I’ve owned this 2016 to prevent a failure.

Glad to see it's exactly like a GM hydramatic 6T series transmission. If they don't have a dipstick and AREN'T leaking I measure how much oil is removed with an old oil jug. Then refill with the same amount of dex vi or equivalent synthetic transmission fluid. My wife's Cruze 6T40 transmission was exactly 3.5 quarts every time. Do that every other oil change and your transmission will outlast the motor.

The best video that i have seen on changing the transmission fluid. I have two fusions a 2016 and a 2018 both running the 1.5 GDI Turbo Ecoboost engines. Both cars are running AMSOIL Signature Series OW30 engine oil. The 2016 has had a transmission flush with the AMSOIL Signature series LV fluid but i don't like the way it was done because the ford dealer flush machine only told them to add four quarts of my oil to the transmission. AMSOIL said it took nine quarts to do a transmissions change. Ordered two cases of Transmission fluid from AMSOIL to do the transmissions in both cars so i have to do some checking to see why they only used four quarts of transmission fluid when i wanted it all changed out !!! I will get the transmission fluid changed on the 2018 when i find out what is going on at the ford dealer. Doesn't the technician know what he is doing !!!!

I just had my fwd 2015 fusion titanium 2.0 ecoboost transmission drain and fill service done for the first time at 49k miles. Had it changed with the manufacturer recommended Motorcraft Mercon LV. I use full synthetic for oil changes. I fill it with 91 octane ⛽ only. My car is in excellent condition and stock; besides installing a K&N cold air intake. I recommend that, it slightly improved mpg and power (10 HP, 9 TQ); sounds better too.(4 months ago I replaced all original 4 tires with Toyo extensa hp 2; all season budget performance tires. It's been a good car since purchasing in early 2019.

Awesome instruction on this, best video I've ever seen for the 2015-era Ford Fusion Titanium. However, just because the fluid is black, doesn't mean it's got transmission problems. Using Motorcraft Mercon LV, and only doing 1-2 fluid flushes, won't get all the black out. Even after doing a full flush of the system, won't guarantee that it'll stay red very long. The nature of Mercon LV isn't the same as other fluids, and it will darken in color considerably quickly.
@THEDriverMod_
@THEDriverMod_ 2 жыл бұрын
I aware ot gets darker quicker than most, it took me about 4 or 5 drain an fills over a 50k span to get the fluid to come out red in color. Now I just do 2 Amsoil drain and fills every 30k miles or so. I'm at 180k now on the car, still all original powertrain

Hi does the 2015 fusion carry any filter when replacing transmission fluid?
@THEDriverMod_
@THEDriverMod_ 2 жыл бұрын
there is a transmission fluid filter but it is an internal filter which involves removing the transmission and separating the transmission body to replace it. that's why I recommend using the Amsoil transmission fluid and doing a drain and fill every 35-40k miles.

A drain and fill is not the same as a flush. Cost will depend on labor rate and what fluid you are using. Or would you be doing the drain and fill yourself?
@bonedatt
@bonedatt 2 жыл бұрын
@@THEDriverMod_ Thank you for your response. I don't mind doing the service myself. Since a flush and drain are not the same, is it odd that a Ford dealer would recommend a transmission flush at 38k, and not a drain and fill like you just demonstrated? My owners manual says to change the transmission fluid at 150k but the wording is vague. They're not saying flush so it's a bit confusing on which service to do with my mileage at 51k now😕
@THEDriverMod_
@THEDriverMod_ 2 жыл бұрын
@@bonedatt you would definitely want to service the fluid, they are recommending a flush because that's gonna get about 90 plus percent of the fluid, where a drain and fill will only get about 40 percent. I would just do two drain and fills back to back and that will get 75% or so. These transmissions need the fluid serviced ever 35-40k miles. I've worked on them at the dealership and don't care what the manual says, these transmissions will not make it to 150k without regular fluid service every 40k miles.

My cars at 110k miles, Ive been told by my local transmission shop that since the cars skipped a few 30k drain & fills, at this point its actually a bad idea to change the fluid because now the viscosity is compromised and new fluid may actually hurt the transmission….what are your thoughts on this?
