The quintessential all-American victory in all motorsports. Gurney and Foyt are the true all-star heroes of this race. It's no wonder they were chosen to be the number 1 Ford team that year. This was truly a perfect storm.

Mark IVs are nice, but love the Mark IIs ! Beautiful car..... Great story about Gurney in the MKIV, at night he was getting hounded by a Ferrari to increase the pace, but he was holding back the whole time. Ferrari wouldn't pass and take the lead. So Gurney got tired of it and just parked it in the grass on Mulsanne. The Ferrari pulled in behind him and also stopped. Gurney waited, then the Ferrari pulled out and took off. Gurney later passed him and went on for the win.
