Ah, yes, the loose ground connection - I heard of so many long, long troubleshooting sessions (sometimes for years) - all to find out that it was just a corroded or loose ground cable that caused... Poor hot-starting performance, cylinders missing rhytmically upon turning on the indicators, backfiring through potholes, dim lights going through corners, or complete breakdowns in the middle of the night. Amazing what a few strands of wire can do. Great job on finding the issue so quickly!

I had mine suddenly stop in the middle of the night on a deserted crossroad an hour from home. Checked everything under a lamp post, but was reluctant to open the dashboard, because it couldn't be there right? Turns out, because the previous owner had installed a modern type of ignition switch, with those modern flat connection taps on the back to connect the ignition wires, the connector had just fallen off due to the rumbles. (facepalm)

What a useful lesson. Something we take for granted in a modern vehicle that is only a few years old. Working with fine electronics, it is something often missed with other hobbyists. And, what a heartwarming surprise after fixing up the model A. This is what real America looks like :)

I woke up feeling grateful for all that has taken place and for all the people that have made Rich’s desires manifest. Without everyone's support and Paul's Shinn expertise none of this would have happened. Now Rich, his Mom and Dad and their stories live on. This is such a proud moment.Thank you so much Paul.

I grew up in a family who loved and valued cars and who did most of their own work on them. I am thankful every day for the way I was raised and am very aware of how a knowledge of automobiles and how to fix them has helped me in every other aspect of life. The ability to break a problem down into smaller, logical steps, as you have demonstrated here, is something that was ingrained into me, but I am constantly amazed at how so many people don’t have this ability. They only look at the bigger problem and are overwhelmed, instead of looking at the smaller, easily solvable smaller problems that make up the bigger one. Hopefully your video demonstrates that to some of these people.

What a great story, Jeff's dad giving the car to him sounds like the most awesome thing to do. That is one nice looking Model A, and you did a super job on it, fast and efficient on the diagnosis. I like that you took the time to go through the steps of starting and driving that beautiful car. Then to get a meal for you efforts had to be so enjoyable and it looked like a delicious meal too. That's how it used to be in the 60' and 70's, when you did work for someone, part of your pay was with a meal. Great video and awesome job Paul, you and Bob looked like you enjoyed this experience immensely. Thanks for sharing and you all have a wonderful weekend.

You had me loose ground connection. I am not a mechanic by any means, but from late 60s till mid 80s I owned a bunch of different Ford Pickup Trucks. So I’m kinda an expert on those. People would ask why their truck wouldn’t start. I was always a corroded or loose starter cable at the starter. Or a bad or loose starter relay that was on the drinkers side wheel well. You truly the Model A Whisperer.

Yes, same problem here. When I finally found out, I noticed the ground strap lost it's clamp to fix it to the frame, and one of the previous owners just folded it and put the screw directly through the woven copper strap. That hole went larger over time, but not noticable with the screw still on....

Paul you and your family are really awesomely good folks thank you for time, you and the good folks that you surround yourself around are a blessing. Every video you make, makes me want a Model A. I’m a gearhead that likes to go fast, like Ricky Bobby fast and that is the only thing holding me back. I’m older than you and have owned many many very disappointing cars after the purchase and I don’t want to make that mistake anymore. I’ve always loved my slow slow VW’s for the simplicity so I think I’m almost there. I’m in the Dallas, TX burb’s and have been looking on-line around this area and they list anywhere between 10,500-30,000 for a running driving Model A. I love how simple it is, I’ve watched enough of your video’s that I think I can intelligently look at one, I can’t thank you enough to turning me on to a Model A. I’ve got to get rid of something to get one, my garage is full. When I told the wife I wanted to get one all she said, Where are you going to put it?, so now all I have to do is sell something and buy one and then I’ll show her…… That’s how you do it or I’ll never get one.

An other so sympathetic and warm video Paul. It’s so great each Saturday to enjoy family warmth footages like this. And you know what, the way you have grounded this Model A “termite Bait”, its the very same way I also did it. Especially when you have your engine partially on the rear rubber supports. I say partially, due I was advised not to switch the front supports to rubber and leave as is, only for the rear and the extra support on the rear part of the transmission. Job well done and for the little less knowledgeable viewers a thumbs up in the trouble shooting part. So, great the moments towards the ending of this video, really model A lovers, are just great and warm hearted people, hmmm reason they also like and have Ford model A’s.😄 . God bless Paul and regards to madam Tina.

Paul, I've watched many of your videos over the last month or so and totally enjoy them. Your enthusiasm for the Model A is infectious! I am doing much research into buying a Ford Model A (or a '30-'34 Chevy - I'm actually more of a Chevy guy with a '72 El Camino SS). But it's the great people like you and that you have met and that seem to be everywhere in this hobby that I enjoy. I'm in So Cal and plan to join a local club probably before buying a car. I especially LOVE 'Termite Bait", and am looking for a decent Depot Hack (can't have too much ventilation on a hot summer day, right?) Keep up the great work, and take care of yourself. I'm right now recovering from too much work & stress, and the health issues that result...

Paul, I am a fan of the show, and a Model A owner, however seeing you driving a Chevy truck is disappointing especially considering that the bow tie clan just can't seem to leave Model A's as well as other vintage Fords unmolested.

@@ModelA Thanks for the quick response , I am glad your personal truck is a Ford, and respectfully, a new Bronco would be real nice for Model T

@@thomasmeyer5004 Maybe after some of the bugs are worked out of them. We prefer the 60's Brocos.
