Was called to this garage to have a look at this Mondeo...
The car was not starting, mainly after a starter motor replacement... (Full story on the video...)
On the PCM code B1601 stored.

I almost get tears in my eyes . Here I am struggling with 3 cars all with CAN problems . All headache cases from other garages . I come home to watch a relaxing video but the only one that was relaxed is the video maker , namely you . No problem . It's nice to get some easy fixes once in a while . Probably the garage that changed the starter thought that the blinking red light was for decoration .

I always learn something watching your videos. I didn't know an existing transponder key could be re-written, i always thought the transponder chip needed to be blank. Excellent, thanks for your effort sharing and letting us tag along with you :)

It must have been a voltage problem or they shorted something, because I could see that the radio was also asking for the code..... But nice quick fix, interesting video.

There is no way to lost keys in immobiliser, when battery is empty / starter motor replaced. Seems like previous garage did something in module (eg. reset immo / delete keys) and tell some brilliant history to customer :(

Possibly... I admit, I never hear of the keys being lost on a Ford... is common on peugeot blank the bsi, or vauxhall to loose the keys on the BCM when the battery gets too low... You are probably right... who knows... lol Thank you for watching and for your comment!

Hi man, i ve ford mondeo 2013 2 l diesel auto Car is running fine just i have one problem When i driving car in the heavy rain engine swatched off by it self and then traction control light come on . When i try to start car again doesn’t start , until traction control light swatch off by it self then car start . But traction control light takes time to goes off may e 2 or 3 hours ? Do you have any idea about this problem i ‘d mach a appreciate

Obviously looks like is water/moisture related... I would guess, that water is getting somewhere where it shouldn't... 👍👍👍

The shortest video I’ve seen from you. I was sure that it will start after the led turned off. I had Ford and I know it. If the owner had all the original key fobs he could program itself.

What the heck kind of garage doesn't have scan tools? I don't work with cars, but I have access to scan tool and would've checked that out immediately. Also pretty bad judgment from garage if they haven't noticed PATS light blinking abnormally. I guess someone hasn't realized that old saying "assumption is the mother of all f'ups" :)

@@LMAutoRepairs ahh, I fully understand your point of view as it's your profession. I can imagine what kind of things you see after possibly ie. three people have tried to do "something". I remember getting back to work from summer vacation and machine I pretty much only look after was told that it needs new servo motor and it's barely running anymore. I was immediately thinking that, wow nothing was wrong and now month later it's in garbage situation? Went to the machine and it oozed/squirted from product filling heads and I was wondering why on earth did they even try to use machine in that condition. They had ordered that really expensive servo motor/controller assembly. I looked machine for minute and noticed that pretty much immediately that it's timings where way off. Looking bit closer to the problem area noticed that someone had changed one 5 euro pneumatic cylinder adjustable bleed valve. Turned it about one revolution open and machine worked like new. It's funny to hear those "maybe we've should called you couple weeks ago" comments at that point. One prime example what can happen when someone changes something and doesn't bother to try machine or not even tell or register what has been done to it. 😊

I have a question i own a ford mondeo from 2001 with a 1.8 benzine engine and it wont start. The emergency service came and told me my battry and dynamo do seem to work but they could not find another problem. Now when i try to start the engine the red light flashes too and i hear continious tap coming from the engine. Is this the same problem as in this video and is it costly to do this at a garage? Or can you only do this at a ford dealer?

Scan the car first... If is this exact same issue, as you can see no need to take it to the dealer... But as I said, scan the car and go from there... Otherwise could be pure guess work... Thank you for watching!

@@LMAutoRepairs Thanks for the tip! The garage i always go to had some extra time and told me the problem was my starting engine and that is was time for a replacement. My car does have 248000 miles on it now and i have never replaced this part since i bought it when it initially had about 184000 miles on it. She did require and extra re try of starting the engine sometimes but it wasnt often. But she runs now with every try so i gues im safe again for now :p

You got it all wrong... Was not the key that lost the data... Was the car that lost the data from the key... Quite common on other cars... but was the first time I've seen it on a Ford... Thank you for watching!

Hi Scan the car... it will might help to narrow the issue down... clearly looks like it is water dependent, so, water is getting somewhere causing the issue... 👍👍👍
