I have to be honest! The 2.3 Ecoboost on the Mustang is impressive! Good on gas and great performance! What else do you want from a daily driver driving a Mustang? Impressive!

bet at least 80% of the people in the comments crying that its a 4cyl are kids that have no idea about money and havent driven anything yet, especially not a stang ... gas and insurance for an ecoboost are already expensive enough

I have the 2016 2.0l turbo camaro, I would say its the chevy equivalent to the mustang and yeah, the gas and insurance is high enough, Id hate to see how much Id be paying if it was a v8 lol

@@codred84 I justchanged insurances from geico to allstate, i used to pay 900$ every 6 months now i pay about 550$. helps that im 27 so my cost is a bit lower than the young folks lol

here in my country the mustang are way expensive than in US or EU. it cost around 60k USD for a ecoboost EU version. and 5.0 are actually not that more expensive. but the tax we need to pay for every year here in Taiwan have a huge difference. since we pay tax due to the displacement. V8 is about two times nearly three times more than a Ecoboost. so i bought also a ecoboost. and 90% of the mustang here are ecoboost. the people critical 4cyl is such a shitty things but truth is they even cant afford a 4cyl stang.

If you are worried about gas and insurance,so you don't have to drive a mustang Drive a Prius and there is no need to pay much for gas and insurance

true Bill, but it's this (basically) American idea that unless it's a big V8 it won't be able to get out of its own way OR it won't impress enough people. I think it comes from 60 years of 16 year olds having access to cheap fuel and long straight roads where brakes and handling finesse weren't a consideration. Big, brash and vulgar - although I know many Americans who aren't like that at all.

Stephanie Crock omg a v8 is amazing, when you drive one you will always want one. All that torque, the great sound.... it’s just an amazing feeling. I could not care less what other people think. Oh he’s compensating and what not. If you want a 2.3 buy a mazda, they make really good small engines, so does the mercedes amg 2.0 400 hp. Or even the Golf R. But if you want a pure mustang, it has to be v8.

A tried both the 2.3 ecoboost and the V8. Was not at all impressed by the 4 cylinders. 290 HP on a 1800 kgs car does not give a lot of sensation. I tried the V8 2017 which is an 6 gears automatic and "only 420 HP"....well THIS one gives sensation. I ordered the V8 which will be produced in August and will be the 2020 model. Automatic 10 gears and 451 HP....can t wait for it. Delivery in November.

SAME DUDE. I’m very focused rn on saving up for a 2017 version. IMO its a perfect starter sports car because it’s fast + saves gas + doesn’t have bad insurance.

its a piece of shit. if you can't afford to drive a mustang then don't fucking buy one. simple as that. if you say "oh but i just want to daily drive a mustang" or "oh we need to think of the poor people, they want the mustang experience too" then you can fuck right off. the characteristics of a mustang are its raw v8 power and the insane straight line speed. take away that and what do you have? no handling, no speed, nothing. you're not getting a mustang if you buy this, you're just getting a pos that has no purpose other than to make losers think they are fast af with their mustang, only to get gapped by a kid in a prelude.

Ironically, only 39% of the Mustangs sold in the USA are GT's. The rest of them are Ecoboosts (now that the v6 has been discontinued). I'm a US Ecoboost owner. I never even considered a GT model-the fuel and insurance costs are too high. It is my daily driver. In Europe, well over 50% of the Mustang we export are V8's-it is about the cheapest way to get a V8 under the hood over there!

Heh, needs to be modded-it is electronically li tied to 149 MPH (just like the US ecoboost!). Nothing a quick tune of the PCM can't fix...

Stock V8 Mustang costs over 100 000 dollars where I live, due to ridiculous tax. In addition the fuel prices are many times of that in the US. You could be a doc or a laywer with over 100k yearly salary but stuck with a 1.0 liter "fuck-me-in-the-ass & save the planet" hippie bred mix between a bicycle and a donkey. Taste the salt already? :)

Gas is cheaper because it's a bad quality one. Most of the good quality gas is exported to europe, and that's why americans are lagging behind in developping turbos and inline injection and were stuck with huge displacement N/A engine for such a long time.

No they dont. It's a sound amplifier from the engine. The only trickery here is that its amplified. it does in no way make a Fake sound. I own this car and have pulled the fuse from the fusebox and there is very little sound difference. The Mustang GT also has an amplifier doing the same thing.

You're half correct. The Ford 5.0s use only sound amplification (I drive a 2018 5.0 F-150) while the Ecoboost engines actually play simulated engines notes. I use to work at a dealer, that's why I know

The convertible 2.3l is only automatic. That means you suck! The hard top comes is Manuel and Auto

@Jeff Lee it's not about shifting fast it's the ability to leave in certain gear to always hit the powerband. No matter how fast you going. It's about having the mental capacity to drive,shift, useing both feet. All while anticipating to up shift or down shift. Me and my wife purchases a manual; not to prove something but to be one with the car .

I just bought an Mustang with the Ecoboost today and it sounds a lot better in person. I was really surprised how good it sounds for a 4 cylinder. Super fun to drive as well. Well worth the purchase price.

i rented this exactly 17 model, it was surprisingly accelerating good enough and with easy ride on highway it pays off with 30mpg, just mine had blind spot mirrors on "both" sides, very helpful since rear visibility is poor on all these convertibles, those things should be standard on all

I love this car. Very nice video. 😍 Very powerful for a 4cyliner 2.3 engine. Very fast and comfortable for it's speed. Fuel saver for a sportscar.

Will get the new EcoBoost in 2022. Did some math and for Italy and someone who makes a decent salary it is affordable. The V8 would mean not enjoying it at all. It's a big car that needs frequent servicing.

@@lppedd I'm not into mustang's, but I've heard the 2.2L Ecoboost engine is from the Ford Focus, and it's a good one, I'm into SUV and big engines, like VW Touareg v10 5.0, so probably a v8 mustang wouldn't be a problem for me.

​@@albertcristian4540 the issue here is that when a car exceeds the 185kw it must pay additional taxes. For example: 0-100kw: 2,60 euros * kw 101-185kw: 3,90 euros * kw 186+: 20 euros * kw With this car it results in about 1150 euros per year. To this, add another 1000 euros for insurance.

🤐Not bad 🤔 Not bad at all for the turbo, I have the 15 v6 with the Throttle body the BBK headers and Cold Air Intake. Also have bama tune tune. The video makes the acceleration look 👀 pretty swift for a stock four banger.

"Hitler's Highway" 😂 Honestly I'm so tempted to trade in my 2011 GT for a 2018 Ecoboost with 10speed auto.. it looks like so much fun to drive, less heavy in the front end lots of torque. For all the so called "men" complaining about it not being a v8.. get over it. A v8 doesn't make your dick bigger or impress anyone 😂 I seen tons of v8 Mustangs get smoked by cars with smaller engines. This is 2018.. not 1960 anymore.. technology is advancing.. and so are most people.

My stock 15 auto eco eats 5.0's regularly and road racing I've seen GT & 5.0 door panels trying to keep up. In 45 years of hot rodding never got beat by a shifters only cubic inches!! Plus I got 1 hand to rub her leg. This car is pur D fun and fast enough. Woow nelley hit the cruze control.

Just to make it clear to anyone outside the Netherlands (and mainly someone in the US) who doesn't get it: 1. Here in NL, the GT retails at about 130000 USD due to emissions tax. The Ecoboost is/was about HALF the price here. (they did get a tax hike now too btw) 2. Fuel costs about 8 USD a gallon here. 3. The max speed is capped at 145mph/235kph from the factory on these cars. If you flash the ECU to remove the cap, it will do over 283kph/175mph without any other mods. 4. European specced cars are equipped with only a 3.31 end gear ratio, for fuel economy reasons. This means that in the highest gear, the acceleration is going to be poor. Not a big deal as the maximum speed in NL is only 130kph. Due to points 1 and 2, most people will never be able to afford to buy or maintain a GT here, so the Ecoboost is a much more realistic car people may hope to own. That said, there's only been about 240 Ecoboosts sold here. (on a population of 8 million cars). GT's have officially only been sold perhaps a dozen times. There's some more registered (around 50) but most of them are owned by companies as demo cars or by foreigners (e.g. US military) who do not have to pay the tax for some reason.

same in Austria man. If you want to buy a big engine car be prepared to pay a sh*t tone of money on taxes, gas, registration fees and insurance(the mandatory one). It is not worth it, what good are 600+ HP in a standstill traffic or on the 130kmh(80mph) restricted roads.

Can you explain point 3? In this video, the car tops out at 145mph but it seems like the final drive ratio would prevent it from going any faster. How could an ECU flash get it up to 175 with the same final drive?

@@3snowymani'll agree with the poster on this, a flash can raise how much boost the turbos make along with removing the speed limiter. I can see this thing hitting 170 on a tune. May need a few mods but it's realistic, I'd expect a Slight compromise in reliability though

Just so everybody knows, the 2.3ecoboost puts out almost 330 horsepower. I have a 2010 Ford Mustang, with the v8 (yes I know it’s old.) but it only has 315 horsepower. The 4 cylinder puts out MORE than my v8.

The cabin sound is electronically generated a la Volkswagen Soundaktor, but I think it sounds like believable 4cyl noise (unequal exhaust header length)

up to 200km/h it is pretty good. but afterwards nothing is coming anymore. sadly! because i like the idea of having the small 2.3 Ecoboost inside a Mustang. But the amazing 5.0 stays way better

i drove three mustang ecoboost en three USA road trips in 2017 2018 2019 and IMO it is a very good car. very comfortable, you have several settings which influence the hardness of the suspension and the responsiveness of the gearbox, you can have a comfortable mustang or a mustang "racing adjusted" according to your desires. It is very quiet. the mustang ecoboost is very fuel efficient. You can go there with your eyes closed.

After a lot of research, I bought an Ecoboosted Premium version with the Performance Package. Lots of other goodies came with the vehicle, too.

@@albertcristian4540 I got a 2018 Ecoboost Premium for 22k and 20k miles on it. All the V8s in my area for the S550 platform were 30k+. Do I want a V8? Obviously, however for now this is a great car for me. Whenever I make more money I plan on trading this in for the S650 platform whenever it comes out.

240km is 150 mph, in the states that’s more than sufficient! 2.3 liter was engineer ed for low end torque and it’s plenty punchy, of course it’s not the V8! However not everyone needs v8 power, logically where can it be used in USA if your not a track or drag strip racer?

I agree, I'm currently looking at a 2017 Ford ecoboost because it's cheap and still has plenty of horsepower. Plus it wouldnt hurt to have great gas mileage lol

if i had to choose between the 4 Cyl and the 6 cylinder, i'd pick the 6ixer. I drive the v8 version, nothing compares out of the 3 cars.

@@MrJPerry I admit I haven't driven a 4 cyl Mustang, my only gripe is the price, it should be nowhere near the price of the v8. Now I HAVE driven the Focus ST and that was an amazingly fun car to drive, I'd buy one! It felt fast, it was nimble, and as a matter of fact, when I was driving it, I have a POS dump truck stop basically dead in the middle of the road and I was able to brake turn, and accelerate around it like a TRON bike... I had a smile on my face and I was impressed. On that note, Ford is so stupid quitting their small car segment, hopefully, the dummy that grad student they put in charge of their car lineup gets terminated in a year or more after they see their sales tank from thinking they can sell only big expensive SUV's and Trucks... Note the foreign car market still selling their small cars and still doing small fast cars...

What model of mustang is in the video I've had a 2016, 2018, and now a 2019 all ecoboost but the car in the video doesn't have a ecoboost emblem which is just a pony by itself on the trunk lid. Unless it's different overseas

I own a 2017 ecoboost premium, no issues whatsoever, I believe the engine is relaiable. I wanted a GT premium but it was too expensive I'm 23 so insurance was gonna be expensive too. So I went with ecoboost premium because that basic interior just looks awful to me. So far the car is an exelent dayli and is fun to drive, but after some time you will end up craving more power.

Not a bad product, but I think they could have put the 2.7L ecoboost from the fusion sport. Wouldn’t be as painful to hear. With the better numbers, it’d be able to keep up with what Germans say have 300-320 hp. My m235i would eat this for breakfast, especially near the top end.

I drove both the current V8 and 2.3 Ecoboost. And unfortunately I need to say the Ecoboost was better for me. Better fuel economy, punchier and lighter. Considering the upgrades possibilities I go for the 4 Cylinder

This video makes me happy. I'm a little sad at how it seems to struggle to get to 240 though, not that we're ever really able to go those speeds. It's only odd because my 2014 Veloster Turbo can go 240 without struggling... How did the car feel at top speeds? Did it feel shaky or was it nice and stable? It looked like it was able to firmly hold its own in the video but maybe you felt otherwise? I plan to buy one next year.

If you getting a mustang ecoboost get the 6 speed manual, i have one an it pulls like a train throws you right back in your seat an even more so after 5000rpm, better with the coupe too not convertible, you will easy get to 200kph in well under 20 seconds an thats before you even change to fifth or sixth gear 👍 dont let the 6 speed auto put you off the mustang ecoboost but id recommend the manual lots more fun 👌👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

i agree, I couldn't help but notice the lack of grunt beyond 220kph. Compared to the e90 330i I drove, Mustang is quicker to 200kph and then the e90 keeps accelerating easier to 250mph.

Paid $2.15 a gallon today, here in PA. (we have one of the highest gas taxes in the country) Can’t even comprehend having to pay $2 for a liter!

@@morenojuan3676 man that sucks! The highest octane we can get around here is usually 93 octane, that’s going for about $3.09 a gallon. We also get flex fuel (for cars that can take it) 85% ethanol 15% gas-That is usually the cheapest and has a octane rating around 106. Also 88 octane gas that is 15% ethanol is available besides 87 octane (which most people use here).

Shortly put, 91 octane in the US is equivalent to 95 octane in Europe, while 93 in the US is roughly equal to 98 in Europe. The fuel is more expensive over here indeed, but that's the least of your worries. In Romania (the country I live in) any car with an engine over 3.0 has a disproportionately large tax, the 2.3 Mustang has a tax of ~ 150EUR/year while the 5.0's tax is about 1700EUR/year. They don't care about power, they only care about displacement. It's a stupid and ancient taxation system. Many countries in Europe share similar taxation, and that's the main reason why people prefer small engines, not fuel. The mentality here is that when you're buying a high powered car you're kind of taking it upon yourself that you're gonna put lots of fuel, so that's not a problem. Taxation is unfair however.

The actual Mustang GT 5.0l V8 goes over 160 MPH ( 260 KMH) but this EcoBoost has a 2.3l four cylinder engine with a turbo, it's a convertible and an automatic so....

Not everybody lives in America pal. Emission rules in Europe are a lot stricter than in the US, and just to put it into perspective: in The Netherlands (where I live) the V8 Mustang is *twice* as expensive as the Ecoboost. And the Ecoboost is already expensive af (55.000 Euro = 63.000 US Dollars) I know it's messed up, but that's politics for you

Mustang is more nice. And in Europe we have socialism so everything is expensive, especially gas etc, you have to be a millionaire in Europe to ride a V8 mustang everyday. And 317 HP in EcoBoost is more than enough for everyone, so it makes it a perfect car for some people here.
