I enjoy seeing the street views during the driving segments. It’s good to see trucks with protective devices that prevent cars from being crushed under the trailers. Nice houses and streets.

It’s not that heavy when you compare it to other cars with a same-sized battery pack. Even non-crossovers like the Porsche Taycan is way heavier. BTW Even the 77kwh VW ID4 ist more heavy than the 99kwh Mach E

Excellent review Thomas, thanks. Putting aside the more exotic EVs (Merc, Beemer et al), of all the EVs you've done I'd actually buy this...and I'm a committed VW man (MK 7.5 Golf R). I think for a first effort, very surprised to say a really top effort by the blue oval.👏👍

Great review. We are waiting for our Mach E to arrive, to Germany, from the USA. It will be Red, AWD and BIG battery pack. We will be an all Ford family with the Mach E, 2018 Ford Focus RS and a 2013 Ford Shelby GT500.

From outside the car feels more premium than the ID4, which still has cheap grey plastic on the exterior. And even interiorwise the ID4 seems to lose. No wonder the chief engineer left the ID4 project 3/4 year ago

After watching 6 videos of the MachE I just notice now that the plastic on the steering wheel column is a different colour than on the steering wheel. And now I can't unsee it

cracking review, as usual Thomas, certainly a good package (cost is high for a Ford), a few tweaks perhaps to improve like boot cover and steering, and def needs some brighter (blue) colour choices. Can't wait to see the GT model later in the year, in Orange Fury!! 😁

In the US the "Untamed" mode is called "Unbridled". Apparently in England "unbridled" means "out of control" while in the US it's more about freedom with control. How odd?

@t Great video! When we started looking to buy the Mach E, we decided we needed more than just a quick test drive at the dealer, but couldn't find anything available. Since our purchase of an amazing Rapid Red First Edition, we decided to make it available to rent and experience for themselves on the Turo platform in sunny San Diego! Another full length and informative review from Thomas. I've noticed Mach-E models are starting to show up in dealers in North America. They should be a strong competitor to the Tesla Model Y. Ford appears to have no issues with uneven panel gaps like we find in Teslas. I noticed you don't have the Grabber Blue color in Germany. Grabber Blue is quite striking from pictures. Perhaps that color is only available in the upcoming GT model? Many buyers in the Southwest will want a aftermarket shade for the glass roof, and I think I'd ditch that flimsy cargo cover and get the rear glass tinted darker. The silly divider in the frunk can be easily removed with a plastic pop pin tool.

Thomas, heat doesn't come from UV :) Maybe that was IR coating

Heat comes from both UV and IR. Mineral glass, however, blocks UV naturaly. So yeah, what Thomas means is IR coating. I have this on all windows in my car and I can attest that it works. It reduces IR-bourne heat by possibly 60-70%.

Very good EV from Ford and a reminder to everyone that Ford is very capable of innovation in a world transitioning to EV. I think performance is somewhat low as well as effective range of the EV. Hopefully these things improves in the next year's release.

Hi Thomas some UK reviews talk about the ride being unsettled. How did you find it? Could it be the poorer quality of UK road surfaces?

Had to jump in as I recently drove one....and a Tesla. The ride is not as "connected" as in a Tesla. The steering is dead and twitchy. The experience overall is OK/good...unless you drive or are used to something better. To be able to rate the Mach-E you should test drive 2-3 different cars and then make up your own mind. I decided against it at the end. Though it is a beautiful looking car

Yes. I took delivery of mine in Canada a couple weeks ago. Each mode has a specific sound that can be turned on or off. Same with 1 pedal drive.

Have you considered doing a separate video taking an in-depth look into sustainability of different interior materials? I always appreciate your focus on this topic, and I share the desire for cruelty-free materials, but I've heard conflicting things about sustainability from other sources that claim to work in the industry. I've heard that production of these synthetic leather materials is overall more toxic and less sustainable than equivalent animal leather. I'd love to see your researched take on this.

thanks for your interest! The animal skin production is always more toxic because you have to take into account the massive land use for food crops for the animals, then the land, water and resources for the animals directly etc. And the new fabrics can be produced from 100 % recyclables.

If not, feel free here: As a start, please tune in to what the animal leather industry tried to do here with our channel: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pLaPdtl90ceqnH0.html In general, depending on the animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat would be the reason no.1 in other cases, the hide remains one of the most profitable body parts. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you accept it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and destroys the environment, you make them more profitable. Also, if you turn the argument around "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize how biased the argument is. After all, would you care for which exact body part you would be murdered? Or imagine someone robs you on the street and beats you to death - would it matter to you if it was for your Smartphone or for your purse? The animal agriculture industry occupies 2/3 of all farm land on this planet which cannot be used for direct human nutrition then. That is extremely inefficient. The no.1 cause for deforestation is the animal industry. It is also one of the biggest contributor to climate change. The amount of land, resources, energy and water being used is beyond imagination. For the alternative, you can either use artificial fabrics which can be made from recyclables (we have already shown a lot of vehicles that use great fabric seats from PET-bottles etc.) or more and more also from plant-based materials (like Pinatex). And even if you would create a seat completely with petroleum without a recycling share, the amount of oil being used for that is nothing in comparing just to once fueling up your car. In practical reasons, fabric or microfibre seats are just more useful. You do not sweat in summer and it is not cold in winter. And if you want the slick look or something to wipe clean easier, that is possible with animal free leatherette. Using animal skin on seats is a major issue of animal rights, human rights - and after all it is just common sense what is better both for the environment and just more practical and more luxurious for the customer. We cannot change what we have bought in the past (that also counts for ourselves of course!), but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.

Yay. I have been waiting for an in-depth and informative review. Autogefühl always delivers that to me. Awesome, in my opinion. Time to grab some popcorn and some drink. Hehe. 😂 I have never driven an electric car, so it is hard to speak about what I prefer: one-peddle feeling or rolling. The closest thing to one-peddle feeling was the GLE 350de, but it was not even that strong then. So...that was not a real strong one-peddle feeling. I can project myself a bit using one-peddle feeling: it seems like I would like (or get use to) it. I am very adaptive, so I can easily change when needed. No problem. I heard this car is controversial...or rather has a controversial thing about it. I checked what people were getting angry about with the car. Unsurprisingly, like 99.9% of issues people have with cars, it was nothing actually worth being angry about, as usual. 🤦😂 Use of real animal leather in cars and lack of sustainability is very worth being unhappy about. 😎 Thanks, Thomas. Your "full HD, full screen" always makes me wonder how old this channel is 🤔 Like at this point that's the bare minimum. It would be good if you were at 2k, better at 4K or worth mentionning at 6k or 8k 😅 And what do you mean by full screen? 16:9 is the standart for TV for 15 years now. And wiith a lot of phones on which youtube is often watched 16:9 isn't even full screen, then you'd have to go 21:9 😉 BTW not hating here your videos are great! But after watching a lot of your videos, I wanted to point this out.

Alex On Auto (S.F. Bay Area) tested the Mustang V.S. Tesla Y in a real range test. TESLA did 244 miles (EPA is 326). Mustang did 274 miles (EPA is 270)!!!! Why this result???? E.P.A. gives the manufacture test choices. And manufacturer does there own test and choice. Tesla choice ia a very aggressive version of E.P.A. Ford chice is a very conservative test. Thus the huge varience.

I narrowed down my decision to buy a Tesla Model 3 Long Range or Ford Mache E AWD standard range. The AWD is more important to me than the range because I will be living in Austria and I like to go skiing. THe advantages that I see with the Tesla are: charging network, performance, overall better software, more comfy driver seat. Tesla’s disadvantages are no instrument cluster, and lack of buttons + it’s a about $2.5 EUR more expensive. Ford’s advantages: more traditional comfort like an instrument cluster, buttons, the drain plug in the frunk, Ford’s better service and parts. Ford’s disadvantages: charging network, no heat pump, and lesser software. Can anyone out there tell me their long-term ownership experience with either the Model 3 or Mach-E, particularly in Austria or the Alps?

You are correct that missing heat pump is usually a problem, like we recently had with the Mercedes EQS. The Ford Mustang Mach-E however seems to be still quite good in winter range because the residual heat system seems to be quite effective.

its a good looking car. and like ive been saying for years.. when ford (or any of the big boys) want to build a electric car... they will... and theyll do it better than tesla the first time. This car is proof. tesla should stick with building electronics and AC motors.

Thanks for covering pricing. At €50-70, I can't see Ford selling a single Mach E in Europe. Maybe after the Green's outlaw ICE.

Well since the Skoda Eniyaq and the VW ID4 are equipped and priced very similarly with less power and less range and less interior quality, I think the Ford is quite a bargain.

I just can't deal with the gigantic vertical touchscreen. It ruins the car. It literally looks like you're driving with your iPad standing there. There are much better ways to integrate technology in smarter ways, and also ways that don't look so lazy.

Have you actually sat in the car and driven it? I will say that I absolutely 100% agreed with you when I saw the photos alone. But I just test drove it yesterday and found that - for a reason I can't describe - it isn't as obnoxious in-person. I will say they might have thought about making it more seamless with the dash/console vs making it stand out so much. But like I said - get in and drive it and maybe you'll change your mind like I did. It was weird.

Seems like traditional manufacturers miss the mark in detuning EVs with low power/weight ratios compared to the standard Tesla setup. A high acceleration EV at a low price is a price worth paying even with the range/charge bullshit. But with ordinary acceleration, EVs are just troublesome versions of boring vehicles. Like Vegan, climate change or Gluten free, somebody else's pain-in-the-ass version of life.

Horrible design. I do not think classic Mustang when I see this car. In my opinion it damaged the branding. The 2021 Mustang, the mom car you always wanted 🙄

@@wayfaringcookie8142 Everyone is saying that they love it. Great style / great stereo / smooth ride / great range / kick trunk / drain fronk / beautiful interior ... it even comes with a driver display that the Tesla can not afford to put in, otherwise, it will wipe out their margins.

@@wayfaringcookie8142 From reviews and people that I spoke with, almost all say that they will pick the Mustang over the Tesla hands down. So that make it almost the Tesla killer. When the GT version comes out in 12 weeks ... that will be the real Tesla killer.

They strongly believe that the Ford Mustang Mach E beats Tesla hands down and it's soon over for troubled Tesla. Maybe Elon will start shorting Tesla shares. It's a popular, profitable segment. It wouldn't be from people like me. I like sedans or wagons, not crossovers. But I'm not in the majority.

For that kind of money I want Tesla motors, Tesla battery and Tesla's supercharger network and software too for that matter, all industry innovations. This Ford just doesn't innovate in any special way, it's just Ford's first EV. I think this will still sell but too fairly unsophisticated buyers or Tesla haters. If it was priced better than Tesla, my opinion would have been substantially better but it's just too expensive. A decent first effort from Ford but feel the Mustang association is a bad idea. Having to live with the three tail light motif will hinder their future design efforts. Piped in sound is a big NO, it's dumb! Well done review! Your standards are top of the class.
