Don't buy movies from digital Amazon. When they decide to not carry it anymore/contract expires/etc., you no longer own that movie and wont be able to play it. Courts have already sided with Amazon. Physical media is the way to go.

Yep. I think I turned out way better than my ol man would have imagined. Thanks to all his selfless efforts and investment. But ALS took him away too young. I guess maybe they are watching from above and know. That's what I tell myself anyway. I don't care for pride's sake. I just hope he didn't go to his grave worrying I would be a loser and he was a bad father. That's what eats me up every day. And he's been gone decades.

@@matthewhanson9029 Shame this episode never happened in real life. Like most of this movie. The 1960s Ford GT40 accelerated no harder than a regular family hatchback does today. And not even your grandmother has this kind of reaction to that.

​​​​@@captain_context9991that's bs, the original GT40 did 0-60 in 4.7 seconds and a 2020 Honda civic does it in 7.8 seconds or a Hyundai Elantra does it in 8.4 seconds, a Kia Rio does it in 8.2 seconds. The GT40 only weighted 1000kg while having 335hp, in the 60s that was incredible and even for today's standards it's good

But you have to understand that 4.7 seconds is not a great acceleration today. A 1.8 liter Lotus Elise from the mid 90s does that. And several of todays hothatches blows rings around it.

The Deuce wasn’t crying because he was frightened.. it was pried in what is company had sponsored.. and that he wished his father and grand father could’ve experienced it. Without his singular company controls things like the GT40 would never have been accomplished.

Outside Windsor castle and asked if Lola could help them build a racecar. And they went there because Lotus had already turned them down. They eventually agreed to set up a second production line and built the Ford GT40 out of a Lola MK6. Using a Ford engine. The Ford GT40 is about as "American" as the statue of Liberty... Which was engineered and built in France. Just like the AC Cobra. And it continues to this day. Hennessey F5, SSC Tuatara. Never touched by American hands. All that pride and flagwaving. But can america actually make a quality item? I mean... Think about it. What quality items are American. In all of history.

What I really liked about this film was it wasn’t structurally aimed towards Ford or Carroll Shelby But more towards Ken Miles an absolute legend

Agreed. The miracles Ken Miles performed with that car were stunning. He was maligned by the entire Ford organization, but in the end, proved he was the one man who could pull off the win the way he did. Fearless, nerves of steel, and completely in tune with the car. I very much admire his legacy.

I had a buddy who had a Neon SRT4 he had fully built up with a stage 3, intercooler, big ass intake, the works. Over 600 hp, the thing was a missile. We were cruising on the highway doing 90, he punches it, and we’re instantly going about 130. I’ve never felt such violent acceleration. Just pinned me to the seat. Holy fuck that was simultaneously awesome and completely terrifying.

His father, the Nazi who was the only American mentioned in Hitlers book Mein Kampf. Where he is thanked for being a helping hand in bankrolling the rise of the Third Reich. You mean that guy? Yeah. In real life, this episode never happened. Like most of this movie never actually happened. This movie is not a documentary.

I had a Shelby once, a young lady ran into it and it was destroyed, three years later I had a daughter and I named her Shelby, I was 53 and my daughter just turned 13 in January. I've been a fan of Carroll Shelby since I was a kid.

And most of them, just like this scene, never happened in reality. All made up. This is a feel-good-about-America movie. Not a documentary. Like when they said Christian Bales character drove a broken Sherman tank from Normandy to Berlin... While in reality there was not a single American tank in Berlin until 6 years after the war had ended. In a military parade. Good movie, but its not factual.

The car is right hand drive because it's a clockwise track. The shifter is to the right of the driver (between the seat and the door) likely because American drivers (or anyone not from the UK, Australia, Japan, etc...) Is more comfortable shifting with their right hand and steering with their left. The movie in this respect is accurate.
