It is really admirable how you compliment and encourage your employees. Constantly being criticized and underappreciated is the number one cause of burnout in this field. Knowing that you are valued and what you bring to the table is noticed and appreciated is like fuel that gets you going every morning and makes you love what you do.

My man Dillon out here identifying the actual cause of a failure and not just replacing what broke. Being a technician instead of a parts changer. Good man. Edit: however…. I don’t like to see anyone drawing the engine and transmission together with an impact. That’s how you cross thread it and strip the threads out.

*mechanic* not parts changer or ‘technician’. Also, threads are the absolute least of your worries for things that can happen if you don’t know what you’re doing/get impatient pulling them together like that. But that’s why you never force it…if it ain’t goin smooth, better figure out why.

I have never heard Dave be critical of the 6.4 in any of the videos like most seem to be. The 6.4 like any new diesel has it's known issues, but the original design can be altered just a bit and make them as reliable as any other and still be EPA compliant! Just add an injector to the exhaust and program it to do the fuel dump for Regen instead of washing out cylinders 7 and 8 and 90 of the known issues with this motor is being eliminated! Because the spun bearing is probably a result of diluted oil from the Regen process and lack of proper maintenance. Proper maintenance is usually of half of the problem with new diesels because they aren't like an old Detroit or old tractor that could run great on the crud in them. Besides Dave does warranty his work even on these 6.4's !

I had to be a $20,000 job out the door. 6.4 cores that are any good are getting difficult to find at some point in the new near future it’s gonna be very hard to rebuild those things as the parts get more and more scarce only made them three years in a super duty. There are some shops and won’t work on them and I don’t blame them. I like how he even pressure washers the chassis before installing the engine. Dave, the way you treat your team of Technicians is simply amazing. Watching you bring out the highest level of workmanship in every one of them, is exactly why your company has become the best of the best....I could only imagine what you could do as a Team Principle in F1. I'm thinking VCARB F1, you and Danny Ric would make a hilarious duo, and you'd be just a stones throw from Imola!!👍🏁

I currently own a 6.4 and the best thing you can do is burn it. They were an abortion from the start and I got screwed majorly from the dealer I bought it from. I've got about 12k invested into the motor and then the oil pump blew out on my way to work. I was the. Quoted another 8-9k to fix that and whatever else may be wrong. Now it's sitting in the grass rotting as it should be. If I lived in your area I may have had you guys work on it but it is what it is. You guys do amazing work and have a badass shop and crew

You can’t fix a 6.4….have to replace the entire engine with a crate motor and hope it will go another 175k..at best

Getting old sucks... when the trucks keep getting taller. I saw a short, where someone had running boards that worked like an elevator. The truck was that high up.

@@hayleyxyz it's a very American thing. Especially in Texas. For me it's just kind of overdone. I'll see guys with aftermarket wheels and tires with a factory spare. It's worse when it's lifted with aftermarket wheels and tires with a factory spare. Only thing worse is cheating out on a lift kit. Those are painful. I know a lot of people won't agree. But it's overdone. Most just do it for looks, not function.

@@86LukeM Yeah it does seem like cultural differences. I can get the aesthetics of a lifted truck, but I'd want it to be right and not compromise the rest of the vehicle. And of course that squatted truck fad.. I'm just a casual observer to this kinda stuff as I like the mechanics and engineering. Rainman Ray's channel got me into it

Something ,no one ever mentions; let the engine warm up before stomping down on the gas pedal, if not you will be dumping fuel into the combustion chamber ,a cold engine cannot burn all this fuel, old truckers know this ,and always let the engine idle and warm up before they "move out"

The only way to fix the engine is to delete. That engine will probably last as long as the transmission does. Most guys with the 6.4s just walk away from it. Not as much with the 6.0s but the 6.4 people almost give away cuz it’s a pile of garbage.
@NoahDoane
@NoahDoane Ай бұрын
@@michaelbenoit248 They have other issues that a delete won't fix. For example, the cranks have poor quality control and they like to bend them into spec farther than what is considered safe.

@@louisschummer931 , new diesels after 2007 it should be changed every 3000 because of the amount of dirt that never leaves the engine and gets past the rings from the EGR, fuel from the regen is also diluted in the oil so that’s bad.
